We opened up the clinic in Sealy, but that entity is supporting us.” Commends - - (Continued from Page 8A) Faith Academy Knight News The little ones in the Early Education Center who look forward to Friday pizza of either cheese or pepperoni use that word to describe the “pep rallies”. They call them “pepper rallies.” Maybe that is not totally wrong. Pepper does liven up whatever it touches and livening up is the goal of the cheerleaders. Led by co-captains Maggie Harkey and Maddie Odom of the high school squad and Captain Avery Swierkowski of the junior high squad, the combined squads held the first “pepper rally” of the 20-21 school year last week. The junior high cheerleaders are Georgia Carroll and Mia Odom. The high school squad members are Jayci Byler, Micah Hames, Summer Bright, Alyza Marcotte, Kennedy Thuman The theme of the rally was simple with the objective being to introduce the fall sports teams. However, perhaps it was the simplicity or just that everyone was so ready to have a chance to scream, jump and dance. Whatever the reason, the rally was awesome. The few games between faculty and students brought cheers and screams with the students declared the winners. The teams introduced by their coaches were: Coaches Ann Howarth and Jacob Deramus brought out their cross country members Dyllan Olivares, Savannah Goebel and Ethan Stegent for junior high and Summer Bright, Beck Briggs, Joshua Bright, John Poorman, Landen Bright and Erin Carlin for the varsity team. Head Coach Trey Carter introduced his varsity six-man football team as Noah Figueroa, Blaze Byler, Neil Johnson, Maury Cano, Nathan Figueroa, Dusty Rodgers, Kaleb Shepherd, Landon Snyder, Caden Swierkowski and Josh Poorman. Junior high Coach Travis Cole presented his team of Wyatt Davis, Kayden Marcotte, Cash Warren, Joe Bob Lequerica, Jackson Dunn, Adarius Hutchinson, Justin Peck, Josh Stark, Gage Wilson, Dylan Callihan, Cash Eckermann, Mark Odom, Grant Walling and Travis Woodley. The high school volleyball team managers are Emily Maddox and Sarah Munos. Coach Deborah Boudoin along with Assistant Coach Brooke Borden lead both teams. With the junior high tournament last weekend and the varsity tournament this coming Friday and Saturday here at Faith Academy Bellville, we will list the volleyball teams and the results of their first games and tournaments next week. This Friday will be Faith’s first home varsity game of six-man football. It starts at 7:00 pm. All invited. There was no Monday scramble last week but there was plenty of action at the Bellville Golf and Recreation Club. The annual HAHOTA charity tournament was played benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of Austin Country. Chuck King and his many volunteers have once again done a fantastic job of putting on this event. Results are to be reported elsewhere. The finals of this year’s match play tournament are now a matter of record. Tommy had the honors on the first tee and put his drive long but under the trees on the left. Larry had a good drive on the right-hand side in good grass. Tommy hit a nice low draw but over cooked it to end up 20 yards over the green. Larry then hit his second shot a little fat to come up well short of the green. He then wedged to about ten feet. Tommy then came up with what might have been the shot of the day. The green was running downhill away from him but his wedge shot stayed on the green about three feet below the hole. Larry’s par putt came up short and when Tommy sank his par putt he went one up after the first hole. Both players bogied the second hole. On number three neither player found the green off the tee but with good wedge shots and putts they both parred. Both players bogied four with less than stellar play.
