STRANGER DANGER AND STUDENT SAFETY

With Halloween fast approaching and all the publicity that accompanies it, I urge all

children to take care on this evening in addition to regular travel to and from school. Always report anything suspicious to parents, the school and the police.

You can call 13 14 44 to report an incident to WA Police or 1800 333 000 to reach Crime Stoppers

(only use 000 in an emergency) .

Here are some suggestions to help your children stay safe:

always travel in a group

walk on the right hand side of the road to face oncoming traffic

wherever possible, leave space between you and the roadway

stay in areas that are well lit

stay in view – avoid going into areas that are hidden (such as parkland bush or behind shopping centres)

be alert – earphones and headphones can reduce your awareness considera-bly

if you have a mobile phone, have it turned on and ready to dial an emergency number

if a passing car stops nearby, never get too close

run from a situation if you feel at risk

report suspicious behaviour to your parents, school and the police

if you can get it safely, try to photograph or remember the number plate of the car

report number plates of cars and the clothing or any distinguishing features of individuals to police.

To get the latest community safety information from police, visit WA Police on Face-book www.facebook.com/WA.Police or online at www.police.wa.gov.au.

Interschool Athletics: $6.00 for selected competitors

Graduation: Approximately $100.00/child

School Car Parks

Thanks to all those parents using the

Tangadee Road and Arizona Parade

car parks. For safety reasons I allo-

cated the car park at the front of the

school on Thundelarra Drive as a

‘Staff Only’ car park. A number of

families cross the car park drive area

at the start and finish of school.

I respectfully ask that parents not

use this car park unless they have a

child with a disability requiring close

parking.

for three or more children living at the same address is now $34.50). For further infor-

BASKETBALL CLINIC

Sami Whitcomb and Jacinta Bourne visited our school on Wednesday

14 October to conduct a basketball clinic with the year 5/6 class. The

children had a lot of fun participating in some high energy basketball

drills out on the courts. Sami and Jacinta then signed team posters for

everyone and answered some questions. They talked about the passion

and commitment required to reach the elite level in their sport. It was

wonderful to have Sami and Jacinta visit us and we thank them and the

Perth Lynx for this opportunity.
