Dear Parents,
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
Our school is part of a national project about students with disability and/or learning difficulties.
I have been asked to provide data about the number and learning needs of children at our school. The name
of the school and the name of the students will not be reported. Information about the different types of
needs and the programs and resources the school uses to overcome barriers and support children with
special educational needs will be collected.
I believe it is important to contribute to this because it will help Governments and the Department of
Education develop better policies that acknowledge the level of resources needed in schools to meet the
needs of all students in Western Australia.
If you would like to learn more about the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data for School Students with
Disability you can find information on this website:

P&C—New President
Congratulations to Ash Best who was voted in as President last Friday. I’m confident that the organisation will
continue to flourish under Ash’s leadership and management.
My thanks to Leanne Withers for all her work in Term 1 during her time as President and the time generously
given to the school as Secretary of the P&C last year. Leanne is a strong supporter of our school who has had
to resign due to family circumstances.
Canberra Study Tour
The audience sat enthralled on Friday as our year six students shared the many
highlights of their trip to Canberra. Thank you to the year six parents and P&C
who help make this happen to ensure that children at Golden Bay Primary
School are given the best opportunities to learn.

VERY IMPORTANT - School Car Parks
We are very fortunate to have a total of 96 car parking bays
for parents and visitors in the Tangadee Road and Arizona
Parade car parks down either side of the school. A further 28
indented parallel bays can be accessed roadside.
For safety reasons I allocated the car park at the front of the
school on Thundelarra Drive as a ‘Staff Only’ car park. A
number of families cross in the ‘walk area’ of the car park at
the start and finish of school.
Additionally, we have had four staff cars accidently damaged
by people in a hurry when using the staff car parking area and
one incident where a car smashed in to our front fencing at
home time.
With good reason, I respectfully ask that parents not use this
car park at all, unless they have a child with a disability
requiring close parking.

Positive Behaviour Support
At Golden Bay Primary School we explicitly teach, model and reinforce the expected
behaviours from our Behaviour Matrix as part of our Positive Behaviour Support
Framework. This week we are focusing on the value of Excellence. We are teaching the behaviour
agreement “I stand and sit without talking or noise” and next week the focus will be “I
look at and listen to, the speakers and presenters”. This agreement links to the value of
Respect. Our communication team has made a new Positive Behaviour Support display board in our
staffroom, promoting our school-wide systems and sharing gathered data. So far this term
we have acknowledged 77 students through the presentation of Values Certificates and
Golden Tickets. Each assembly five children with Golden
Tickets are drawn from the barrel and they select a prize
from the PBS Store. Five children who have been awarded
faction points in the playground are also drawn out. At the
first assembly of the term, the Golden Broom was awarded
to room 3.3 and the Purple Paintbrush awarded to room 4.1.
It is wonderful to see so many children actively following
the agreed behaviour expectations. It helps make Golden
Bay Primary School a great place to be!
Kindy Child’s Play Incursion
On Monday and Tuesday our Kindy classes received a visit from Alec the Music Man. Alec brought over 60 handmade instruments for the children to explore. The children learnt how to play in an Orchestra and how to make patterns with music. We all had a great time experimenting with the different sounds of each instrument and loved being loud and creative.

Interschool Round Robin Sports
Congratulations to the 54 students who competed for Golden Bay Primary School
against Secret Harbour Primary School in Netball, AFL and Soccer.
Our teams worked well together with enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship.
There were some close results but unfortunately we didn’t have a win.
We travel to Endeavour Primary for our next games.
Keep up the good work, teams. We are proud of you all.

Next Week’s OSH Activities
Program Update
Dear Parents and Children.
We are well underway with our OSHClub fun this Term. We have been really enjoying our outside play
while the weather is good, a lot of us are forgetting our hats because they are kept in our trays. So if
parents could possibly have a spare hat (does not have to be a school hat) handy for their children to
keep at OSHClub so we can always be prepared to be Sun Smart!
Coming up this Term we are looking at Sustainability and how we can be sustainable in our OSHClub
center, school, home and community! With lots of fun, hands on activities we will learn together
about how to take care of our natural world!
A reminder that enrolling you child or children in OSHCLUB is easy and free. All you need to do is
complete an enrolment form on line at www.OSHCLUB.com.au where you will have the option of
booking as either permanent or casual user. I believe this to be beneficial for all families as once
your child is enrolled you then have the comfort of knowing the program is available to you
anytime should any unforeseen circumstance arise. It also gives you the assurance that your child
or children will be cared for in safe, warm and friendly environment.
Please drop in and say Hello in Teaching Block 4
Opening hours are 6.45am to 9.00am and 2.15pm to 6pm.
Also our lost property box is starting to over flow, so if your child is missing a hat or jacket feel free to
pop into Block 4 and have a look through if your child is missing an item.
