Page 1 Dear Parents, KEEPING YOUR CHILD HEALTHY This week I met with our school Community Health Nurse, Philippa Sgro. Philippa has kindly sent a ‗Tips Sheet‘ for parents published by the Government of WA Child Adolescent Health Service. The sheet contains quality information to support parents regarding sleep, physical activity, healthy eating, guidelines for screen time (depending on the age of the child) and parenting support programs and networks that you can join. I‘ve attached the tip sheet at the back of this newsletter edition for you. POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT At Golden Bay Primary School we are continuing our work with Positive Behaviour Support framework across the school. The aim is to educate students about expected behaviours which reflect our school values. Staff have worked together to design lesson plans which teach each behaviour agreement on our matrix. Every week there is a focus on a specific behaviour agreement, throughout the school. Lessons can also be presented to students at a point of need. Explicit lessons provide students with the same message about expectations and are presented using common language. Additionally, staff teaching these lessons are actively rewarding students demonstrating the specific focus agreement. This week our focus lesson is ‗I respond quickly to signals and instructions‘. Students are reminded before lunchtime of the behaviour expectation. The photo is of a class responding quickly to the siren at the end of recess. This behaviour is encouraged as it allows for quick transitions and effective man- agement of learning time. Dear Parents,

KEEPING YOUR CHILD HEALTHY

This week I met with our school Community Health Nurse, Philippa Sgro. Philippa has kindly sent a ‗Tips Sheet‘

for parents published by the Government of WA Child Adolescent Health Service. The sheet contains quality

information to support parents regarding sleep, physical activity, healthy eating, guidelines for screen time

(depending on the age of the child) and parenting support programs and networks that you can join.

I‘ve attached the tip sheet at the back of this newsletter edition for you.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT

At Golden Bay Primary School we are continuing our work with Positive Behaviour Support framework across

the school.

The aim is to educate students about expected behaviours which reflect our

school values. Staff have worked together to design lesson plans which teach

each behaviour agreement on our matrix. Every week there is a focus on a

specific behaviour agreement, throughout the school. Lessons can also be

presented to students at a point of need.

Explicit lessons provide students with the same message about expectations

and are presented using common language. Additionally, staff teaching these

lessons are actively rewarding students demonstrating the specific focus

agreement.

This week our focus lesson is ‗I respond quickly to signals and instructions‘.

Students are reminded before lunchtime of the behaviour expectation. The

photo is of a class responding quickly to the siren at the end of recess. This

behaviour is encouraged as it allows for quick transitions and effective man-

agement of learning time.

SCHOOL MUSICAL

I‘m pleased to announce that we will be

doing another school musical this year in

Term 3 on Thursday 14 September.

VERY IMPORTANT - School Car Parks

We are very fortunate to have a total of 96 car parking bays

for parents and visitors in the Tangadee Road and Arizona

Parade car parks down either side of the school. A further 28

indented parallel bays can be accessed roadside.

For safety reasons I allocated the car park at the front of the

school on Thundelarra Drive as a ‗Staff Only‘ car park. A

number of families cross in the ‗walk area‘ of the car park at

the start and finish of school.

Additionally, we have had four staff cars accidently damaged

by people in a hurry when using the staff car parking area and

one incident where a car smashed in to our front fencing at

home time.

With good reason, I respectfully ask that parents not use this

car park at all, unless they have a child with a disability

requiring close parking.

UNIFORM SHOP

From Monday 27 February 2017 there will be a change to the procedure for the purchase of school uniforms.

Parents and carers are asked to come to Administration to complete an order form and pay for uniforms (preferably by EFTPOS).

Parents are then to collect the uniforms from the Uniform Shop in the Undercover Area.

Uniforms will no longer be available from Administration.

The Uniform Shop is run by volunteers from our P&C and will be

open Monday's between 8.15-8.40am.

If you are unable to attend the Uniform Shop on Monday's during these hours, uniforms can still be ordered and paid for at Administration and will be given to your children on the next Monday.

Please consider this new procedure when new uniforms are required.

Thank you.

DOG OWNERS – IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Dogs are well loved and make fantastic pets

however, I ask that animals not be brought on

Next Week’s OSH Activities

Program Update

Reminders.

Sun Smart

Please be reminded that OSHClub policy is that all children require a hat during play outside in all

terms and holiday programs in WA. We are aware that the teachers like the children to leave their

hats in the classroom, however if you could please remind the teachers that they need their hats at

OSH, or you are welcome to bring in a hat to keep at OSHClub with your child/s name

written on it. We do have sun cream for all children, however if your child has an allergy or requires

specific sun creams please let us know.

Donations always welcomed

If you have any toys, games or sports equipment laying around that is still in working condition and

needs a new home, we would love to take them off your hands! Just drop into block 4‘s wet area

during operating hours.

Also recyclables that you go through on a weekly basis are always welcomed as we have lots of

creative minds that can turn your recyclable trash into treasures.
