RASUMOWSKY QUARTETT BERN

Founded in 2001, the Rasumowsky quartett feels in several ways close to Prince Andrej Kirilovitch Rasumowsky, the Russian ambassador in Vienna, friend of Beethoven, at the same time admirer and patron of the genre of string quartets, of which it chose to take the name. Rasumowsky-Quartett has its roots in the Russian string school and considers the literature of Viennese classicism, in historically informed performance practice, as its basic reper-toire. Furthermore, the ensemble places particular emphasis on Russian quartet literature, new discoveries, contempo-rary Swiss music and interdisciplinary programs.

DORA BRATCHKOVA

Is a violin Professor at the Mannheim University of Music, the First Concert-master of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, internationally renowned soloist with numerous recordings and CDs, published by cpo, Oehmsclassics, Dynamic, Koch international.

VLADIMIR PATRASCU

Is a violinist of the Na-tionaltheater Mannheim, assistant and specializing in the violin class of Dora Bratchkova at the Man-nheim Music University. He often played as guest concertmaster with Mannheimer Philarmoniker, Sinfonie-orchester Zurich and Philarmonie der Nationen.

Today, based in Bern, Rasu-mowsky-Quartett has attracted inter-national attention with the complete

recording of all fifteen quartets of Dmitri Shostakovich (OehmsClassics

label), on the occasion of the 100th bir-thday of the composer in 2006. Maxim Shostakovich himself being one of the

most important performers of his fa-ther’s work, regarded the interpretation as “one of the best recordings of his fa-ther’s work whatsoever.” The magazine “Der Spiegel” writes that because of the

“incredible tempos and the stupefying ensemble playing” it is the “anniversary event”. In 2016 Rasumowsky-Quartett

released the first complete recording of the four quartets of the Swiss romantic

Friedrich Theodor Fröhlich (cpo label), rediscovered after a long research work.

GERHARD MÜLLER

Is the director of the Kon-servatorium Bern, he was a member of the Deutschen Händel-Solisten and other

baroque ensembles.

ALINA KUDELEVIC

Is the solo cello of the Sinfonieorchester Zürich,

formerly solo cello at the Staatsorchester

Rheinische Philharmonie and Bochumer Symphoniker. Together

with Dora Bratchkova she made the first recording of the Duets of Alessandro

Rolla for the cpo record label.

GAETANO SIMONECELLO

He is the cellist of the trio Gioconda de Vito and the string quartet Modus. He studied with Maestro Saverio Loiacono to whom he entitled a scholarship dedicated to young talents. His records include titles such as the String Quartets by Phi-lip Trajetta, the Quntetto for strings and piano by A.Rendano, the “Quatuor pour la Fin du Temps” by O.Messiaen, “Drei Kleine Stucke” by A .Webern. Taking care of the historically informed cello practice, in 2015 he published a CD “Le Muse Napolitane”, an historical research in the Neapolitan reperto-ire of the eighteenth century for his instrument. The activity and the didactic research see him intensely engaged in regu-lar courses and international master classes. In 2017 he is the absolute winner of the cello and ensemble music competi-tion for the teaching post at music high schools inPuglia with the top national score. He plays an Italian instrument from

the 1700s attributed to David Tecchler.

ROBERTO ZECHINICOMPOSER

IMPROVISATION MASTERCLASS

In order to develop and diffuse the IMPROVISED MUSIC as an EXTEMPORARY COMPOSITION without barriers of musical genre, this masterclass is open to all young musicians with the most different musical experiences. The guide-topics covered are those of the teaching tradition that can be traced back to jazz and improvised contemporary music: rhythm, melody, interpretation, sound, ensemble. The exemplary repertoire ranges from the original music spe-cially written by Zechini to the tradition of international “histo-rical” formations, from the arrangements of the standards to the duo and the trio of contemporary “chamber music”repertory.

WHEREThe courses will take place in the beautiful location of Villa Baruchello situated in Porto Sant’El-pidio, renowned seaside town on the Adriatic Riviera (Marche), ItalyWHO The masterclasses call on young people who aim at the profession of musician. Are invited to par-ticipate the students of different level from Conser-vatories, the already formed chamber music groups, the graduates who wish to perfect their knowledge and eventually prepare themselves to continue their postgraduated studies.AIMS Students will have the advantage of improving the study of solo and chamber compositions and of working the specific orchestral parts of their instru-ment . They’ll enrich their repertoire, confronting the problems of interpretation respecting the style of mu-sical periods, relying on the search for the appropriate technical means to express themselves at their best. ORGANIZATION For the students there are indivi-dual lessons, participation in ensemble workshops and chamber music as well as a seminar of the Baro-que and Classic performance practice, and refresher courses on the teaching methodology of the violin.It is also offered the opportunity to participate in a musical improvisation workshop. An accompanying pianist is available on request (please send the parts 30 days in advance). During the period of the cour-ses, there will be organized concerts of teachers and students. The Concerts organized during the Festival help preparing the young musicians for their future as Professionals.ADVICE FOR PARTICIPANTIt is required to prepare at least one piece from the Baroque / classical period that can be discussed du-ring the seminar.It is possible to perform in public concerts at the di-scretion of the Masters, for which purpose it is sug-gested to present a repertoire in the advanced stage as well as the one to be worked in the initial phase.
