Things to Consider

Are you “Pre-Web”, “Web 1.0”, “Web 2.0”, or ready for what’s next?

How do you already engage technology in the classroom or studio?

What kinds of Web 2.0 tools might you be interested in implementing?

Communication (1 of 2)

How do the groups with which you are affiliated communicate?

Does it look like: Or like:

MEStudents

Communication (2 of 2)

What if it looked like this?

Web 2.0: What, Why, and When

What: nearly anything on-line that is collaborative in nature

Why: easier point of entryWhy: not dependent on University

infrastructureWhy: encourage interface with technology

and different ways to engage subjectWhen: any time . . . all the time

Web 2.0 Tools: Weblog About It

Google Users: Create a Blogger weblogAll Others: Create a WordPress weblog

What makes a good name? How will I use it? How will this increase communication? How will this aid learning?

Web 2.0 Tools: Wiki Is Where It’s At

Create your own PBwiki. After all, it’s as easy as making a PBJ!

Improve Wiki Participation

PWbiki’s favorite ideas (from 11/07):

Bentley College recommends creating a videocast of difficult lessons – place it on the wiki so students can reference it in their own time. See how Bentley College improved student participation using PBwiki.

Place your homework assignments online – On a wiki your course schedule becomes a living document that can easily be updated update to reflect your classroom progress.

Prof. Lisa Gordis encourages students to sign up for office hours on her wiki. She recommends including a 30Boxes calendar with deadlines relevant to students and tutors. Find out how Lisa solved the Barnard College scheduling problem for her college class.
