NOTE: by the time the reader has reached this point in the magazine, the have obviously already brought the issue. As a result, this analysis will be focused on the layout of the pages, rather than how the layout/features affect the reader or how they encourage the reader to buy the issue.

The main image takes up one of the pages and shows the act to be in the middle of performing or recording music. Use of a narrow depth of field draws focus to the lead singer, almost suggesting he is totally focused on performing.

The quote from the article is used to intrigue the reader and make them investigate the article to find out how the band is being the best they can be. This particular bit is in a bigger font and typed in white font making it stand out and again, encouraging the reader to read the article.

This side article relates to a part of the main article, providing interesting and relevant facts that would interest the reader.

The main body of text is written in columns meaning it is easy to read. The very first letter of the article is written in red font and is much bigger than the rest of the font, making it clear to the reader where the article starts.

By adverting the article as a “World Exclusive” is likely going to attract of a lot of interest form the readers because they cannot get this feature anywhere else.

These images give an indication to the readers about what the article is about, intriguing the reader.

The text in the background is used to suggest what the article is about, therefor trying to appeal/ entice the reader to the article.

The main image takes up the whole left hand page. Similarly to the test in the background, the flag the model connotes what the article is about encouraging the reader to find out the link between the act and America.

The opening paragraph gives a brief introduction to the article. This allows the reader to make a judgement whether they want to read the article or not.

The text is organised in neat, easy to read columns and the huge D (that is in the same font as the “got the love”) shows where the article starts.

By making the model look into the camera; it makes it look as if she is looking directly at the reader, directly involving them.

This line is a pun relating to a song by the artist, but also suggests what the article is about.

The red letter L on the page suggests to the reader who the article is about (in this case Lady Gaga). The fact it is red makes it stand out a lot because there is no other colour on the page. The basic colour also sets the tone of the article; that the content is serious.

Again the main image takes up half the page and the upfront image is going to attract a lot of interest from the reader because it is so bold and outrageous. As she is looking into the camera, the page directly addresses the reader.

The amount of text used on this page suggests that the readers of the magazine are passionate about their music because they want to learn a lot of detail. The beginning of a new paragraph is marked with a huge letter like S and I showing where a new subject begins.

The quote gives the reader an idea as to what the article is about and what the artist thinks about people’s opinion of her. This would encourage the reader to read on and find more information of a similar nature. The font used also makes the text stand out and again sets the tone of the article.

This confrontational pose of the artist mimics the contents of the article in an almost “You got something to say?!” fashion. The fact she is looking into the camera also involves the reader because she is looking up at them.

The text takes up a relatively small proportion of the page and is written in neat columns making it easy to read. The opening lines also tell the reader what the article is about, allowing them to decide whether to read it or not.

The clothes worn by the artist also sets a laid back, relaxed vibe to the interview.

All the pictures make it clear who the article is about. Because it is such a high profile artist, the magazine would want to advertise the article as best they can and the pictures do this.

This picture is likely to appeal to the target audience because it shows the singer performing during a tour. This would appeal to the audience because music is an integral part of their lives and they love going to live events.

Here, the magazine explicitly associates themselves with the artist by showing a picture of him with an award from the magazine. By doing this, the magazine will attract fans of this act because they now see the magazine likes the act as much as they do.

The quote from the article stands out on the page intriguing the reader and would make them want read the article to find out what prompted him to say this

This side article relates to a part of the main article although isn’t specifically relevant. It provides interesting and relevant facts that would appeal the reader.
