Celebrations

Happy Birthday to you –

God’s blessings on you

Page 4: 3rd Sunday Epiphany Year C Rothersthorpe All Age Worship

All heaven declares, the glory of the risen Lord;

Who can compare, with the beauty of the Lord?

For ever He will be, the Lamb upon the throne;

I gladly bow the knee, and worship Him alone.

I will proclaim, the glory of the risen Lord,

Who once was slain, to reconcile man to God.

For ever You will be, the Lamb upon the throne;

I gladly bow the knee, and worship You alone.

Saying SorryLet us spend a few moments in silence while we think about the time since our last confession and bring before God anything we have done which we should not have done and anything we have not done which we should have done…

Dear God, we know that there are things about us that are not right.

Please help us, LordSometimes we get angry when we shouldn’t.

Please help us, LordSometimes we are unkind and tease others.

Please help us, LordSometimes we are selfish and greedy.

Please help us, Lord

Page 6: 3rd Sunday Epiphany Year C Rothersthorpe All Age Worship

We want to be more like Jesus

Please help us, LordThank you that you can help us to change

Please help us, Lord. Amen

Now that we have confessed our sins we have to let them go and not dwell on them any more.

As the blood of Christ washes away our sins, we come to…

Forgiveness givenMay the Almighty and loving Father, forgive us for the sins we have now confessed to him, and help us to serve him better in the days to come.

Amen

Prayer for the dayAlmighty God, whose Son revealed in signs and miracles the wonder of your saving presence: renew your people with your heavenly grace, and in all our weakness sustain us by your mighty power; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the

Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours now and for ever. Amen

Beauty for brokenness, hope for despair,

Lord, in the suffering, this is our prayer.

Bread for the children, justice, joy, peace,

Sunrise to sunset your kingdom increase.

Shelter for fragile lives, cures for their ills,

Work for the craftsmen, trade for their skills,

Land for the dispossessed, rights for the weak,

Voices to plead the cause of those who can’t speak.

Page 9: 3rd Sunday Epiphany Year C Rothersthorpe All Age Worship

God of the poor, friend of the weak,

Give us compassion, we pray

Melt our cold hearts, let tears fall like rain.

Come, change our love from a spark to a flame.

Refuge from cruel wars, havens from fear,

Cities for sanctu’ry, freedoms to share.

Peace to the killing fields, scorched earth to green,

Christ for the bitterness, his cross for the pain.

Page 10: 3rd Sunday Epiphany Year C Rothersthorpe All Age Worship

Rest for the ravaged earth, oceans and streams,

Plundered and poisoned, our future, our dreams.

Lord, end our madness, carelessness, greed;

Make us content with the things that we need.

God of the poor, friend of the weak,Give us compassion, we prayMelt our cold hearts, let tears fall like rain.Come, change our love from a spark to a flame.

Page 11: 3rd Sunday Epiphany Year C Rothersthorpe All Age Worship

Lighten our darkness, breathe on this flame,

Until your justice burns brightly again;

Until the nations learn of your ways,

Seek your salvation and bring you their praise.

God of the poor, friend of the weak,Give us compassion, we prayMelt our cold hearts, let tears fall like rain.Come, change our love from a spark to a flame.

Bible reading1 Corinthians 12: 12-31a

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body – Jews or Greeks, slaves or free – and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot would say “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less part of the body. And if the ear would say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many members, yet one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the members of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and those members of the body that we think less honourable we clothe with greater honour, and our less respectable members are treated with greater respect; whereas our more respectable members do not need this. But God has so arranged the body, giving the greater honour to the inferior member, that there may be no dissension within the body, but the members may have the same care for one another.

Page 13: 3rd Sunday Epiphany Year C Rothersthorpe All Age Worship

If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honoured, all rejoice together with it.

Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church - first apostles, second prophets, third teachers; then deeds of power, then gifts of healing, forms of assistance, forms of leadership, various kinds of tongues.

Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?

But strive for the greater gifts.

This is the word of the Lord

Thanks be to God

Best Gifts

For I’m building a people of power

And I’m making a people of praise

That will move through this land by my Spirit

And will glorify my precious name

Build Your church, Lord, make us strong Lord

Join our hearts, Lord, through Your Son,

Make us one, Lord, in Your body,

In the kingdom of Your Son. ( x2)

Open our ears, Lord and teach us to listen to youWe pray that wherever materialism or stress or sorrow or sin have deafened us to your will, we may be prompted to put things right.

Page 20: 3rd Sunday Epiphany Year C Rothersthorpe All Age Worship

We pray that our homes may be places where you are welcomed and recognised through the good and the troubled times.

Open our ears, Lord and teach us to listen to youWe bring to your love all our fellow members who are ill, injured or sad. Alert us to see how we can help, and give them a real sense of your comforting presence.
