What are cells? Building blocks of living

things Let’s name some living

things: people, plants, animals,

bacteria Cells provide structure,

convert nutrients to energy, and carry out specialized functions.

Your body is made of trillions of cells. Muscle cells help you move, stomach cells help you digest your lunch, and skin cells cover your whole body!

How can stuff get in and out of cells?

Passive Oxygen, carbon dioxide

and water pass through tiny holes in the cell membrane from high concentration to lower concentration

Called diffusion for gases, or osmosis for water
