    This annual, city-wide event hosted by United Way of

    Central Ohio, HandsOn Central Ohio, and the City ofColumbuschallenges volunteers, corporations, non-prots,schools, universities, faith organizations, and other groupsto come together to build a more inspired, proud, andengaged community. A lasting legacy of Columbusbicentennial celebration in 2012, the5-day eventkicks othis year in Weinland Park on September 6!

    Lets give the organizers and

    volunteers a big thank-you, andshow our pride, by coming outsidethroughout the week to pick up ouryards, make early winter preparations,and maybe even clean up the trash in youralley. Dont forget to wear your WP t-shirt or button!

    Among other things, this number determines your annuaproperty taxes. Check your mail for a letter from theFranklin County Auditor, Clarence Mingo, to nd outhow you fared in the triennial audit. To contest a change property value, attend an Informal Reviewto provideappraisers with additional information. Several arescheduled throughout central Ohiodetails can be found

    Summer Internship Programfor Godman Guild Youth

    In-Home Child CareProviders Wanted

    A group of a dozen youth from WP experienced a paid internship athe Godman Guildthis summer. First, they worked as trainee gar-deners in WP and around other areas in the city.

    We even appeared on the morning news, exclaimedAmin Ebad

    Perhaps the most popular endeavor, however, was a cooking competition at theOhio State Fair. Working with established chefs,the youth transformed local food from the garden into a delectabfeast.

    Intern, Gabriel Gaiusbayodesummarized the experience, I lovedeverything about the jobexcept for the weeding: being aroundpeople, doing physical activities, the outdoors...and getting paiddidnt hurt either!

    Annual Neighborhood Festival a Success

    Once again, the annual Weinland Park Annual Neighbor-hood Festival was a huge success! Thanks to the hard work

    of the Festival Committee and generous donations fromCommunity Properties of Ohio, Wagenbrenner Develop-ment, Godman Guild, Short North Kroger, and The Colum-bus Foundation.

    Action for Children, a central Ohio agency dedicated todeveloping quality child care, is recruiting Weinland Parkresidents to provide child care out of their homes. The

    program includes training, business support, and referralsto member parents. Providers are reimbursed forproviding food to the children.

    Attendees enjoyed face-painting, a Bounce House, free food,many booths from local vendors and organizations, and a

    dance oor with fun music all aernoon!

    Neighbors Enjoy

    S U M M E R F U N

    Despite the heat, humidity, and a few showers, about 60 neighborsboarded the bus to Circle S Farmfor a free pint ofpick-your-own strawberries, and an end-of-the-day delicious strawberry shortcake treat courtesy of our hosts. OurHealth & Wellness Committeeregularly organizes these lovely eld trips and other activities.

    A edgling young artist completes her masterpiece during theRed Circle art groupheld regularly throughout the spring and

    summer in the park.

    McGruf,the famous crime-ghting dog, made a special appeaance during National Night Out 2014,encouraging everyone to

    work together to take a bite out of crime.

    Our Safety Committee Chair,Ahmed Ebady, set up his grill und

    the Weinland Park Shelter during National Night Out 2014, soattendees could enjoy some hot dogs before indulging in a

    complimentary Jenis Splendid Ice Creamdessert.
