    Here Comes Roots & Roofs

    May 4

April brought some good business news to WeinlandPark: Majadi Cunningham, owner of A Head of Time, hasexpanded the shops services to include cosmetology.

Located at 1503 N. Fourth St. (just south of E. EleventhAve.), A Head of Time is now the only beauty andbarber

    facility in the neighborhood.

Mr. Cunningham lived in Weinland Park from 1998 to2001. During that time he recognized the need for acommunity barber shop. Later encouraged by the new

Gateway development, he returned in 2006 as anentrepreneur.

He maintains a simple philosophy: Treat people with

respect and be a good neighbor.

Stop by and give them a try! Walk-ins and appointments are both welcome.Hours are TuesdayFriday 9:30 a.m.6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.6 p.m.

Weinland Park neighbor Omar Elhagmusa complet-ed his Masters of Business Administration degree

at Ohio Dominican University this spring after

several years of going to class while working full

time. Hes now assistant branch manager of the

Huntington Bank office in the South Campus

    Gateway.

    Congratulations, Neighbor

    ast Months itter

After we picked up the savings bonds in March, weknew youd be wondering about our latest adventure,

    so heres the update:

22 volunteers (including 9 children) picked up 41

bags of trash in April. Best find? A set of keys that AAA was able to helpreturn to their very grateful out-of-town owners.

Biggest surprise? Two of the children were

given $5 tips by an impressed neighbor.

Roots & Roofs will take place of our regular litter

clean-up in Maysee you on May 4!

We need your short stories for an illustratedcollection about Weinland Park! Big, little, happy, sad, funny, or scary: tell us about things thathappen on your street or in your yard or during

your walk to Krogers. Nothing is too trivial.

Please send your story to Jean Pitman [email protected] call her at (614) 292-4614. (Dont feel like writing? Well come and write

down your story for you, or talk with you aboutwhat you want to tell us.) Story collection dinner

    parties coming soon!

    See the example below:

Tell us your Weinland Park Story

Weinland Park neighbor Christine Happel recentlycompleted the United Way of

Central Ohios Neighborhood Leadership Academy,an eight-month training pro-

gram for current and emerging community leaders in advocacy, consensus

building, effective collaboration, and communication skills.

I gained an increased connection to the Weinland Park community and an ap-

preciation for all of my great neighbors, whom I look forward to working with,

    says Christine.

I moved to my apartment a couple of

months ago. I like it a lot except that the

kitchen sink is really tiny. So I rigged upthis overhead shelf kind of hanging thing.

When you walk into my small kitchen it

looks like there is this sculpture, and I

made it myself. It works pretty good now

    and it makes me smile.
