Minutes for October Membership MeetingThe meeting was called to order at 1900 hours by President Paulline with a pledge of allegiance and a mom
of silence observed for POW/MIA and those still serving in harms way for our nation. Officers present Vi
President Granbois, Treasurer Morel, and Secretary Lavelle. Members went through an introduction period
is our practice and guests were introduced. Vice-President Granbois swore in Lyle Peterson who will repl
Roger as the Vice-President and Bill Matthews who will replace Lyle on the Board of Directors. The minute
the October meeting were accepted as published in the newsletter. Chuck Morel presented information to
chapter on the financial status of the chapter. Larry Witt, the chapter membership chair was not pres
because of a health concern. Larry had chest pains and had been examined at the hospital in Iowa City. Cr
Norris has had a few setbacks since his surgery, but is in good spirits. Bill Pinault is still at home waiting for
medications to assist with his infections. Ed Gilmore has also been undergoing treatment for infections rela
to his AO exposure. Dave Happ from Durant also has had problems with his AO diabetic infections. Jett B
is waiting for surgery on his back this coming month of December. Lyle Peterson has a committee of fourt
members for the 50th Anniversary of the War in Vietnam. This committee will meet the first of the year. L
encourages members to attend the meeting at the Davenport Police Department on November 12th,
Davenport to discuss the progress of the Davenport Veteran’s Memorial. Public Affairs chairman Al Kirk
contacted the media in Muscatine in preparation of the Clover Sales set for November 1 - 2. Al will also be
the Wild Rose Casino in Clinton on November 10th with an information table on veterans health concerns.
Gaudet stated that Pizza Ranch in Bettendorf would want at least 10 members of the chapter to work
bussing tables as a fund raiser, a group has volunteered to do that in the future. The chapter will begin sell
ads for the newsletter (they are now in this newsletter) starting at $25 for three months. During the month
November the chapter will set out donation cans at various locations in Iowa. David Woods shared that t
quarter Scott county veterans obtained $1.6 Million in veterans benefits. Ernest Ledjte said that incom
incarcerated veterans are receiving their medications from the VA so they do not have to wait to see a D.O
medical professional. Ernest visits incarcerated veterans in Iowa’s correctional units. Greg Paulline stated t
the Clover Sales in Clinton amounted to $2,100. He also stated that this year’s Christmas Party will be held
American Legion Post 26 on December 19th. Cocktails will be at 6:00 PM and dinner at 7:00PM, cost for
party is $16 per person. Dinner will be stuffed pork chops and chicken. The November chapter meeting will
at Post 26 in Davenport. Please bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. Art Heyderman announced that
next VA Hospital Visit will be December 23rd, again we meet at the Machine Shed at 7:00 AM and leave
Iowa City at 8:00 AM. The next chapter dinning get-together will be a Hall of Fame Pizza & Wings 3408 StStreet in Bettendorf. Minutes submitted by John Lavelle, chapter secretary.
