These games are played just twice a year and pay 50/50 red and black points at Sectional rating. The World Bridge Federation sponsors this event with all profits going to the development of youth bridge. We will have hand records with extensive analysis of the boards played. Extra points are awarded for District – wide winners. Do not miss this great opportunity. There are two other opportunities for red points this month with NAP Qualifiers on Thursday, June 11 th and Saturday, June 27 th . These two games offer 50/50 red and black points at Sectional rating also. We will continue our Tuesday Series games awarding the higher scoring players extra bonus points at month end. We will start a Wednesday Series Games in June with the same bonus awards for Wednesday higher scorers. At least four players earn bonus points with each of these series. On Sunday, June 21 st we will hold a Brunch and Bridge at 12:30 followed by the Open and 499er Swiss Teams event for the benefit of The Alzheimer’s Association. The ACBL has been a major “player” in The Longest Day effort for three years. On Monday, June 22 nd we will play a special short game at 10:00 (just 18 boards) and our usual 1:00 Open and 299er games. Marge Desmery will be preparing a great lunch for in between these two games. Come and play both games on Monday to benefit this great cause that effects so many lives. Extra points will be awarded at all three of these Charity Games. A special thanks to John Garrison who has been trimming some of our tree branches, and Maggie Eggleston who has been spotted with her gardening shears working on the weeds surrounding our trees. These folks have seen a need and gone out of their way to help the club. Thanks to these and many more of you who volunteer your time to help make this the “GREAT” Club it is!! North American Pairs (NAP)

The NAP event has been a major ACBL pair championship since 1979 and was originally known as the Grand National Pairs. This grassroots event is staged in qualifying rounds at the club, unit and district levels. The contest is run as a flighted event: Flight A (Open), Flight B (fewer than 2500 masterpoints as of the June 2014 masterpoint cycle) and Flight C (Non-Life Master with fewer than 500 masterpoints as of June 2014). 1. Club level qualification may be earned at any club in any unit in any district. 2. Club level qualification is earned as an individual and not as a partnership. A player may play at any participating club as often as desired and with as many partners as desired. 3. At the club stage, a player may qualify and earn masterpoints with any member of the ACBL or with a non-member of the ACBL. NAP Games at VBBC in June: June 11: 0 – 500 & Open Pairs June 27: Open Pairs

Susan Mayo has already returned to her summer home in Connecticut but the memory of the spectacular celebration of her GOLD LIFE MASTER ranking lingers on. Susan became a Gold Life Master while playing with Judy Kane at the VBBC on May 21st, 2015. Helen White provided a beautiful party to honor Susan’s 2500 point achievement. Thank you Helen and congratulations Susan on this great accomplishment.
