Billy Miller The final celebrity speaker for the year was Dear Billy who helped us simplify the squeeze process and gave us great tips on improving our bidding, defense, and play. He was informative and entertaining and well received by his audience. A big thanks to Marge Desmery for preparing the food and to Boots VanNostrand and Thereca Large for helping in the kitchen. Ron Andrews helped with the technical issues, and Dick Tompkins and Jane Garr were all around help. Erica Artus conducted a phone campaign and Kim Howard helped by sending out email.

placed and making impossible contracts using a bit of trickery. Join Bill as he presents a large number of hands and methodically describes the logic that Sherlock Holmes would use to make the winning play. All series attendees will receive a personalized Sherlock Holmes declarer certificate. The cost of all three lectures is $50, if preregistered. Each separate two hour lecture costs $20. Please sign-up now on the sheets provided at the club or notify Kim. As you may know, Bill donates all of his proceeds from his lecture series back to the club. By attending you will significantly improve your game, win more master points, help the club financially, and have fun. Don't let you and your partners be left behind as you see your fellow players, who attended this series, start winning more often. For those of you who may not know Bill, he is one of VBBC'S top players and a diamond life master. He has conducted bridge lectures on over 125 cruises worldwide, at ACBL regionals, and at many bridge clubs and country clubs. VBBC GUEST LECTURE SERIES PRESENTS

"HOW TO BECOME SHERLOCK HOLMES AS

A DECLARER"

(ART OF "SEEING" DEFENDERS' CARDS BY

BILL POOLE) VBBC is proud to offer this very unique, highly informative, and interesting new lecture series by one of our most popular lecturers, Bill Poole. The series was designed specifically for VBBC and will be given for the first time to our members. It will consist of three, two hour long lectures on Tuesday mornings March 17, 24, and 31 from 9:30 to 11:30 am. A complimentary continental breakfast will precede the classes. This unique series of insider declarer tips and insights is designed for intermediate and advanced players who want to understand why top players often seem to play as if they can "see" all the cards. You will be shown that there exists a vast amount of clues (information) that are just waiting for you to recognize and apply that will allow you to determine which opponent holds the missing critical cards. Many examples of deductive reasoning are illustrated to transform your guesses into certainties. Imagine how much easier it will be to play a hand when you can "see" the opponents cards. Several little known winning declarer techniques are included. Additionally, pointers are shown on how to play a hand when critical cards are unfavorably
