We are now ranked seventh in North America for the calendar year 2014 This is a remarkable accomplishment by any measure and every member should take great pride in our Club. From the president’s desk The roof project is nearing a close. We still have inspections to undergo and if those do not turn up any deficiencies we are finished. I would like to thank once again all of those members who have given donations to help finance this project. Including donations received from our first appeal in the spring of 2014, over $160,000 has been contributed. I think this is outstanding and should offset half of the project cost. I would also like to thank many of our most accomplished players who offered to play a game with members who came out ahead in a silent auction. Of course we are also grateful to those members who participated and contributed nearly $4,000. Meanwhile the level of play has continued at a good level despite what I am sure has been an annoyance for some members from the work going on around and over us. We have become the seventh largest bridge club in North America according to the ACBL, This is an advance of one place. David Garfield

Just a reminder to all Perfume & Cologne

wearers, please be considerate of players who have allergies to perfumes, colognes and hair sprays. Fragrances are found in a variety of commonly used perfumes, skin products, household products, foods,

cosmetics and other substances. For some people who have asthma, a perfume allergy

can send them into an asthmatic attack and give them

terrible side effects. Sensitive people have reactions varying from headaches to confusion, asthma to

anaphylaxis.

PLAYER PROFILE

Pat Forsdick was born and raised by her adoptive parents in Southern California. She attended Immaculate Heart College in Hollywood, CA where she received a business degree, and learned to play “Goren” bridge. Pat married and raised 4 children while working in real estate, and enjoying golf and tennis. She and her husband lived on an 80 foot boat in Marina del Ray, CA for 10 years until they brought the boat to New York via the Panama Canal. They divided their time between New York and Florida, also spending two seasons in the Abacos. Pat found the VBBC in June 2011, fortunately for us. She is a great volunteer and is now the “Woman in Charge” of our kitchen, which we all know is a tuff job, good luck!! Oh and by the way She says “No more Goren.”

HELP OUR VOLUNTEER CASHIERS North/South Medical reservations

The VBBC wants to attend to the needs of all of our players. Lately, the number of those players seeking North/South seating arrangements has grown. In order to reserve a North/South seating assignment at any game, players must bring either a Drs’ statement citing medical concerns or their Handicapped Parking placard. These will be noted on our sign in sheets and we will try to accommodate your needs. Please either sign up or call the cashier on the morning you choose to make a N/S seating request. Players should also get to the game at least fifteen minutes prior to game time. This will help our cashiers meet the requirements of those people in need, as well as all other players and relieve some of the congestion at the desk just prior to game time
