bership, and the PP’s sent a donation to a fund in her name.

the cost and will drive for more participation. Debbie Harrington is taking point

on this one and will be looking for volunteers to help out with Committees. We

are working with City Putt and looking for a date early November.

New Member Social getting revamped into fund raiser- Field Day headed up by

Monique O’Neill.

Fun/ Charity Walks: in lieu of the community rebuilding that we try and do- we

are looking into participating in other events for charity.

isiana to help benefit Pancreatic Cancer. Event is on Sunday 09/29/2019

Safety/Wellness by Jeff Rhodes [email protected]

With football season upon us, that means it’s also tailgating season. The time where we hang out, grill some

food, and enjoy some beverages before cheering our team on to victory. While tailgating is fun, it can also be

dangerous if proper precautions are not taken.

First off, make sure you drink plenty of water. The calendar might say fall, but the thermometer says sum-

mer. You don’t want to miss the game because of heat stroke. Also, drink in moderation. You don’t want to

end up with alcohol poisoning, or not being able to remember the game. And if you’re just there for the tail-

gate and not the game, please remember, do not drink and drive. Some other ways to stay safe at the tailgate:

1. Food safety is paramount for keeping your tailgate party fun. Even if food items are transported in coolers

or portable refrigerators, they can sit out on snack tables for extended periods during the pre-game celebration,

increasing the chance for spoilage. Monitor your food, and keep items covered or on ice if possible.

2. Grilled meats are often a big part of a tailgating menu. Raw meat should be packed separately, in an iced

cooler, and stored in individual containers until they’re ready to be tossed on the grill. Keep knives, tongs and

other utensils clean and washed after coming in contact with raw meat. Do the same for cutting boards and

other surfaces, and wash your hands before and after touching raw meat. It’s also advisable to use paper tow-

els and plates to further prevent the spread of foodborne bacteria.
