The photos seen on this page are amongthe most puzzling of those gathered concerning the assassination of PresidentJohn F. Kennedy.

Photo one is a picture published involume 16 of the Warren Commissionreport. I t is entitled photograph of anunidentified man. How that photo got intothe commission's report is interesting.

Oswald went to Mexico in the fall of 1963in an effort to obtain a visa to travel toCuba. Because Mexico was, at that time, the only Latin American country thatrecognized Cuba and thus had a Cubanembassy, the CIA had hidden moviecameras aroUnd the embassy to keep awatch on who was making visits there.

AWARE OF THIS, the Warren Commission asked the FBI- not the CIA- for apicture of Oswald on the steps o theembassy.

Back from the FBI came photo oneshown above, which became the' .. o ; .. : l } ~ ,.. .:\ . \ .. ~ • • - -

unidentified man, commission exhibit237.

The entire lZl exhibit affair was anembarrassment to the CIA, for the man inthe picture is actually Oswald's CIA babysitter.

Photo two Is a picture of a man so faronly identified as Ramirez, a CIA agentwho is believed to have been involved inthe assassination of Cbe Gueverra.

Ramirez bears much resemblance tothe man in commission exhibit 231.

Cynics believe that since there werereports that Oswald was connected withthe FBI (rumors that .may have beenstarted by the CIA), the FBI was gettingback at the CIA by passing along

Ramirez as Oswald. No one ever reallyasked who the man was- or they certainlyweren' t able to get a straight answer out o

the CIA - and so the issue has beenhanging fire until now.

CIA to get back at the FBI was commission exhibit 237. The drawing was thatof Martin Luther King's assassin, whichcompared closely with a photo of

Frenchie the tramp who was pickedup in Dealey Plaza the da y JFK was killed. When the drawi ng was published, inquirywas made of the FBI about the identity ofthe sketch. The FBI would not repudiatethe sketch.

Sturgis and The Walking Man is E.Howard Hunt, the CIA spooks who tried topull off the Watergate caper. That seemshighly unlikely and was rejected by therecent Rockefeller Commission.

on Frenchy:• who may have been at the ap-

ago, a Rockefeller investigator interviewed a

Dallas policeman involved in the arrests.

dubbed the leader of the trioFrenchy because his clothes had

a continental cut.The disheveled man behind him

was called the tall man. Hesometimes grinned during the threefifths mile trek.

The little guy who seemed to beshielding himself behind the tallman became the walking man.

THESE WERE THREE of a dozenpeople arrested and questioned inDallas on Nov. 22, 1963, the dayPresident John F. Kennedy wasassassinated.

Their identities are not known, buttheir significances in the investigation of whether a conspiracy

was involved in the Kennedy victed in the Watergate scandals.assassination is a major questionmark.

Numerous pictures of thetramps were taken by three

newspaper photographers snappingpictures at random tn Dealey Pl azathe day the President was shot.

Underground newspapers beganpublishing the pictures in 1968. Andwhen Watergate blew the lid off theNixon Administration, the picturestook on new fascination amongAmericans who never felt the CI

THE SHORT MAN or walkingman strikingly resembled E.Howard Hunt, the CI superspook who had a penchant fo•·assassinations and who masterminded the Watergate burglary andother odds and ends for RichardNixon.

But Frenchy is perhaps themost interesting of the trio.

In 1968, after Dr. Martin Luthe1·King was shot and killed whilemaking a speech on a Memphismotel balcony, the FBI moved anartist's sketch of a suspect in thekilling. This was before James EarlRay was pegged as the lone

assassin. The official sketch was an exact

double for F r e n ~ h ythe tramparrested in Dealey Plaza whenKennedy died.

Another picture surfaced. t wasof a youthful Lee Harvey Oswald, the so-called lone assassin ofPresident Kennedy, handling outpro-Castro literature In NewOrleans. Oswald is surrounded in thepicture by several men.

Frenchy.Who is Frenchf'? And the tall

man ? And the walking man''?Dallas police never bothered to

find out.SOME ASSASSINATION buffs

have even questioned the identity ofthe policemen herding the trampsto the county jail on Nov. 22.

But through interviews conductedby TATTLER, the circumstances ofthe arrest of the tramps can nowbe revealed.

After the firecracker-soudingshots were fired into the Kennedymotorcade at 12: 30 p.m. a state of

chaos ensued in and around DealeyPlaza.

Policemen Billy Bass, MarvinWise and Roy Vaughn responded toa report from railroad swttchm8JILee Bowers, who was stationed in a

that the tall man Is not FrankSturgis. ' lbe tall man Is too tall. The "walking man" In the "tramp"pictures looks a lot Uke E. BowardHunt does today 1 but not Uke Buntlooked 12 years ago.

Both Hunt and Sturgis haverepeatedly denied they were InDallas on Nov. 2 1 1J83. Hunt contends he didn't even know Sturgisthen.

Hunt, the old CIA pro who helpedalter the cow ·se of history behind thescenes, has found an ally in the headof the FBI.

Top Secret Papers RevLee Harvey Oswald was an American espionage

agent in the employ of the CIA.He was sent to Russia in 1959 with orders to shoot

down U.S. pilot Francis Gary Powers' U-2 spy plane andthereby wreck the delicate East-West detente.

When he returned to the United States, his next assignment was to partake in the murder of PresidentJohn F Kennedy.

This is the real story according to America's most

fervent assassination researcher, Mae Brussell. She has in her possession copies of 1,800 documents pertaining to the assassination, including mostof the FBI, CIA and Warren Commission reports.

The one file missing h o w e v e r- the one she wouldmost like to have Is CIA Document No. 931 entitled,Oswald's Access to Information About U-2s.

It is locked in the National Archive, still classifiedTop Secret.Miss Brussell is not alone in her belief that Oswald sabo

taged America s U-2 flight while working for the CIA, thatagency which President Kennedy called, "the hidden government behind my back."

Francis Gary Powers, the pilot shot down in Soviet airspace and later released by the Russians, thinks so too. nanAugust4, 1975 interview in the San Francisco Chronicle, hestates his belief "that Lee Harvey Oswald may have provided information used to shoot down the U-2."

There is abundant evidence to support this c l a i m - andthe theory that Oswal d s mission was directed by the CIA,independent of the American government, and that its purpose was to destroy detente. Just two weeks away was theParis Summit Conference, a friendly meeting of leadersfrom Russia and the U.S. Those talks were cancelled as aresult of the U-2 incident.

Oswald, Mae Brussell claims, played an important part inkeeping relations between the countries icy.

For, contrary to what the Warren Commission was toldby the CIA and FBI, Oswald was not undisciplined, inarticulate or of below average intelligence. Rather he was aMarine-trained expert in the highly specialized field of radio

His job, a highly important one, was to detect enemaircraft , calculate course, speed and altitude of the plane$and ''immediately make precise adjustments on the equipment for more detailed observation and analysis.

According to his commanding officer, Oswa ld's positionwith the radar crew gave him access to all secret radio fre·quencies, call signs, and authenti cation codes utilized in con·nection with the normal functions of the Marine Air ControlSquadron.

All of these codes were changed after Oswald defected to 'the USSR .

Donovan also points out that Oswald knew the disposition of most military squadrons .. of all services to the West 1

JOHN F .KENNEDY wanted to break up the CIA agroup he referred to as the government behind

his back.MIDNIGHT. In fact, his passport application to go to theSoviet Union was expedited so fast, he hadn't even yetpplied for early discharge from the Marines when he re

ceived it.Oswald was allowed to leave the service early because

stating, 'I 'm ready to come home now; give me mypassport.'

Oswald got his passport but it would still be more than ayear before he returned to the United States. The problemwas Marina, his Russian wife, who had to go through considerable red tape before being allowed to emigrate .

For most o f the three years th at Oswald lived in the SovietUnion, he worked at the radio-electronics plant in Minsk. How a former U.S. Marine got such a sensitive job hasnever been explained. However Mae Brussell has sometheories.

Oswald 's co-employee and best friend in Minsk was a mannamed Alexan der Ziger, who may also have been a Cl A spy.

It was through Ziger and his wife that Oswald met M arina, and when Oswald returned to the United States he broughtsome secret letters from his friend which, Miss Brussellbelieves, were turned over to the CIA.

The Zigers had two daughters, born in Argentina, whowanted to leave Russia and return to that South Americancountry. .

Miss Brussell has a copy of a document which shows thatAllen Dulles, former CIA director and a member of theWarren Commission, attempted to atrange for the two girlsto leave Russia and go to Argentina.

Quite simply, she believes, Oswald's job in Minsk wasarranged for him by CIA agents in the U.S. Embassy and CIA

agent Ziger. As part of the deal, the CIA was to get Ziger'sdaughters out of the country.Further evidence that Oswald worked as a spy in the

Soviet Union comes from CBS correspondent DanielSchorr, who in June, 1975 interview ed a former CIA officialwho saw memos in 1962 describing an American re-defector.

According to the CIA official, the re-defector was described as an ex-Marine who had defected to Russia, worked in a radio factory in Minsk and then re-defected tothe United States in 1962. This is an exact account ofOswald's defection story.

The CIA man told the CBS reporter that t he memo dealt- f t : _ , , ... . ~ .: . .. lin on thP Mirisk radio factory.''

Mae Brussell Is a writer, lecturer and radiobroadcaster In California. ut her most consuming Interest Is the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. She has every book, every newspaper story, almost ·every document pertaining to the assassination. Herbook Oswald and the U-2 is soon to be re-

leased.

his mother was ill. When he arrived at the American Embassy in Moscow on

October 31, 1959 Miss Brussell says, he was given the redcarpet treatment by embassy official Richard E. Snyder.Oswald then proceeded to turn in his American passport as adramatic display of his expatriation.

It was recently revealed in the book Who's Who io theCIA that Snyder. like several of the men who had contactwith Oswald, was really a CIA secret agent.

Oswald's return to the United States was also "incredtblyeasy MIDNIGHT was told.

His mother, Marguerite Oswald started the wheels rollingin January of 1961 when she went to the State Department inWashington. She told many people there that her son wasworking for the U.S. government in the USSR and that shewanted him to come home, Miss Brussell said.

(Three years later, before the Warren Commission, Marguerite Oswald would tell investigators, I have as muchcircumstantial evidence here that Lee was an agent for theCIA as the Dallas Police have that he shot President Kennedy. )

Mrs. Oswald's presence in Washington and her statements blew Oswald's cover, Miss Brussell believes."Within three weeks a diplomatic pouch was sent to theSoviet Union, she says, and Lee Harvey Oswald fromMinsk then sent a letter to the U.S. embassy in Moscow

The CIA admitted that such a memo existed, but theagency said it pertained to a former Navy officer, not aformer Marine, named Oswald.

Daniel Schorr checked with Navy officials who statedthat they "found no record of such a man.

Mae Brussell believes that Oswald was sent to the USSR bythe CIA for the sole purpose of ruini ng relations between theU.S. and the Soviets.

She further believes that the CIA, acting independently ofthe American government, has created a red herring" ofthis sort every time detente with the Communists seemspossible.

The U-2 spy plane was brought down on May I 1960. OnMay 16 President Ei senhower was scheduled to meet withSoviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev in Paris. The meetingwas called off as a result of the U-2 incident.

Miss Brussell believes that now the sudden appearance of new evidence connecting JFK's assassination toFidel Castro is another of these diversionary tactics designed to destroy detente.

She points out how "coincidental" it is that these documents have turned up just as America's relations with Cubaand the Soviets seemed to be improving.

And she further believes that right wing elements in theCIA were responsible for the assassination of President

Castro, she told MIDNIGHT. Foronethiog,JFK wantedthe CIA broken and torn apart. He said after the Bay of Pigs,'there's a hidden government behind my back.'

He assigned Robert Kennedy the task of investigating theCIA and he fired Allen Dulles and a long list of top people.

He embarrassed men like E. Howard Hunt, who hadworked with Dulles since the beginning of the CIA and whohad planned the Bay of Pigs attack on Cuba.

What was Oswald's role in the assassination and why washe picked?

Mae Brussell contends that Oswald was a patsy set up bythe CIA to take the blame for John F. Kennedy's murder. That someone else actually ftred the fatal shots.

In this way the CIA accomplished two things at the sametime, she says. They eliminated Oswald and the President.

Oswald's cover had been blown when his mother toldeveryone within earshot in Washington that her son wasworking for the CIA in Russia. And more than that, LeeHarvey Oswald, Miss Brussell says, knew too much.

He knew tht< truth of how and why Francis GaryPowers' U-2 spy plane was shot down over Russia.

The plan, Mae Brussell says, worked perfectly. LeeHarvey Oswald was silenced forever, and PresidentJohn F.Kennedy was assassinated.
