[HOWDY, PARTNERS] This last month has felt like miles have gone by in just minutes! 2011 Fine Arts has come to a final close, and we here at The Scoop couldn ʼ t be more proud of the results of our participant ʼ s results. All of them did a top-notch job in every aspect of the competition, whether it was their score, their attitude, or their behavior. Hey everybody!

As most of you probably know, we just got back from our trip to Phoenix for the National Fine Arts festival. In a word, it was awesome. The worship and services were great, everyone's performances were splendid, and our group just had a really wonderful time overall (even in the 110 degree heat)!

Most of the time we were at the convention center for everyone's entries - among our group, we had songwriting, percussion, photography, and human video, to name a few - but there was still time for fun things as well, such as dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, pool parties at the hotel, and a night at the amusement park. It's been a long week, but it's been a fantastic trip. We had a great time just talking and hanging with each other.

Fine Arts is a great way to showcase your talent! The categories range anywhere from writing to singing to drama. If you've been thinking about participating in Fine Arts next year, we would love to have you! It doesn't start until April of next year, so you have plenty of time to give it some thought :) Until then, have a great rest of the summer and stay cool!

! ! ! ! -Danielle

JON TORGESON

WITH

A SCOOP NEWS

INTERVIEWGET TOKNOW ‘EM

We had the chance to ask Youth Pastor Candidate Jon Torgeson a few questions. Here is our interview with him!

THE SCOOPJON

THE SCOOP: If you were an animorph, what animal would you morph into?JON: I have answered this question before, making me fully prepared for this question: I would be a "CHEE-GLE".It’s a cheetah and a bald eagle combined. That way I can fly and nobody can catch me!

TS: If you were a transformer, what vehicle would you disguise yourself as?JT: If I were a transformer I would like to disguise myself as a Lamborghini Aventador.

TS: If you were able to befriend a 90s cartoon character, who would it be?JT: I grew up playing roller hockey, so i will have to say if i was a 90's cartoon it would have to be "Wild-Wing" from the Mighty Ducks Animated Series. He was the leader.

TS: Who was your hero growing up?JT: My hero growing up was easily Michael Jordan. I grew up wanting to be in the NBA just like Mike.

TS: Favorite dance move to throw down?JT: My favorite dance move to throw down is the C-walk.I learned it in 7th grade, and all my friends wanted me to teach them how to do it. Everyone thought it was way cool.

TS: You have any super powers?JT: I don't have super powers, but if i did have one i would want it to be the ability to fly.

TS: What is something on your "bucket list?"JT: To go to Jamaica for vacation!

TS: What do you think it means to be a leader?JT: A leader is one who serves. One who has courage. One who has integrity. One who sacrifices. One who adds value to people.

JT: The best thing that has ever happened to me is obviously giving my life to Christ. But one cool thing that has happened to me: my senior year of high school, I played a man in basketball named John Wall, who is now in the NBA. He was the 1st pick in the NBA draft in 2009. I got to play against him, and our team only lost by 3 points, Close game!

TS: What is your passion in life?

TS: What's the best thing that has ever happened to you?

JT: My passion is to love people, to motivate people, to inspire people, to speak life to people, to develop people, and to lead people to Christ.

Jon will be preaching at OMS on August 14, and you don’t want to miss it!
