2012-2013 Fall-Winter Trends

In the last two years, Turkey has been

breaking records both in annual and

monthly terms in exports.

Then what is the locomotive industry of

our export achieving already a figure of

over 100 billion dollars! Of course it is tex-

tile. The contribution of textile to export

figures as of the end of 2010 already

concluded as 21 billion dollars. This year it

is also expected that these figures an de-

ven higher figures can be achieved. That is

to say that textile industry carrying 20%

of the export itself.

In terms of employment the same applies.

15 million people are employed in textile,

either registered or not registered, inclu-

ding textile workers and their families in

Turkey. Recently the Ministry of Finance

Mr.Mehmet fiimflek informed that: "Texti-

le industry is our sole hope to minimize

unemployment."

Within this scope we clearly see that tex-

tile is moving on its ways with its full

strenght. That's why Turkey is already fee-

ling excited for ITM TEXPO EURASIA 2012

Exhibition to be held next year on 21-24

April 2012.

Because this exhibition is going o be an

event in which textile will prove its lea-

dership in 2012 besided it has been the

pupil of the eyer of the textile industry for

many years.

We deeply believe that the textile in-

dustry, which is writing a success story

each month, will be awarded with a gol-

den medal at ITM Texpo Eurasia 2012 Ex-

hibition.

Fair and Congress Center on 21-24 April 2012. ITM Tex-

po Eurasia 2012 Exhibition to be organized with the co-

operation of TEKN‹K Fuarc›l›k and TÜYAP and the support of

TEMSAD is the largest textile machinery meeting of Middle

East and the Balkans.

ITM Texpo Eurasia 2012 will be an important platform to fol-

low and witness the latest textile technologies as it will be or-

ganized at a period of a global recovery of the textile industry

and at a period of increase in technology investments in Tur-

key. ITM Texpo Eurasia 2012 Exhibition will be organized si-

moultaneously with HIGHTEX 2012 Istanbul Technical Textiles

and Nonwoven Exhibition, the 9th International Istanbul Yarn

Exhibition and Fabric Expo 2012 Exhibition.

Haliç Kongre Merkezi’nde 2 gün boyunca devam eden

konferansta “modan›n hayal tak›m›” olarak nitelenen Ermenegildo

Zegna Grup Baflkan› Paolo Zegna, Loro Piana’n›n CEO’su Pier Luigi

Loro Piana, Polo Ralph Lauren’in Üretim ve Tedarikten Sorumlu

Baflkan› Don Baum ve Zara’n›n da içinde yer ald›¤› Inditex Grup Te-

darik Zinciri Tepe Yöneticisi Abel Lopez Cernadas birikimlerini Türk

haz›r giyim sektörü ile paylaflt›lar. Baflbakan Recep Tayyip Erdo-

¤an’›n yan› s›ra Devlet Bakan› ve Baflmüzakereci Egemen Ba¤›fl ile

Devlet Bakan› Zafer Ça¤layan’›n, kat›ld›¤› konferans›n aç›l›fl törenin-

de konuflan TGSD Baflkan› Cem Negrin, modan›n hayal tak›m›n›n ilk

kez “En Moda Konferans”ta ayn› çat› alt›nda bulufltu¤unu söyledi.

Cem Negrin, TGSD’nin 35. kurulufl y›l dönümüne denk gelen kon-

feransta uzun bir aradan sonra ilk kez bir baflbakan›n TGSD ve sek-

tör üyeleri ile bir araya geldi¤ine dikkat çekti. Negrin, konferansta

Cem Negrin: ‹ki günde 1,5 milyon dolarl›k ihracat zemini

oluflturaca¤›z

‹ki gün içinde al›m gruplar›yla tedarikçiler aras›nda yaklafl›k 3 bin gö-

rüflme gerçekleflece¤ini vurgulayan Negrin, “‹kili görüflmelerin so-

nucunda Türk haz›r giyim ihracat›na yaklafl›k %10’luk bir art›fl› sa¤-

layacak zemini oluflturaca¤›z. Bu da ortalama 1,5 milyar dolarl›k bir

ihracata denk geliyor” dedi.

Tekstil ve haz›r giyim sektörünün 2010 y›l›nda 11,5 milyar dolar d›fl

ticaret fazlas›yla Türkiye’ye en faydal› sektör oldu¤una dikkat çeken

Negrin flöyle devam etti: “Bizi en yak›ndan takip eden Tar›m-G›da

sektörü sadece 4,3 milyar dolar fazla verdi, yar› rakam›m›za bile ula-

flamad›. ‹hracat yar›fl›nda zaman zaman önümüze geçen otomotiv

sektörü ise 3 milyar dolar aç›k verdi. 2010 y›l›nda makine-elektroni-

¤in 19; maden metal sektörü-

nün 8,6; kimyan›n ise 6 milyar

dolar aç›k hanelerine yaz›ld›. En

çok ihracat›, en çok istihdam›,

en çok döviz fazlas›n› biz sa¤l›-

yoruz.”

Cem Negrin, kumafl ithalat›na

getirilmesi düflünülen korumac›

vergilerin haz›r giyim ihracat›na

faydal› olmayaca¤›n› belirterek,

“Nitekim daha flimdiden doku-

ma kumafllar›n fiyat› artmaya

bafllad›. Konulmas› düflünülen

önlemler sonucunda global fir-

malar siparifllerini geri çekmeye

bafllad›lar. Ancak biz biliyoruz ki

kumaflç›lar olmazsa haz›r giyim-

ciler de olmaz. Bu nedenle ku-

maflç›lar için enerji veya vergi

desteklerini içeren yeni bir Turquality yaratal›m. Ve böylece kumafl-

ç›lar›m›z›n bize Uzakdo¤u flartlar›nda mal satmalar›n› sa¤layal›m. Bu

yap› içinde haz›r giyim ihracat›m›z da uçar ve Türkiye ile kimse bafla

ç›kamaz” dedi. Tekstil ve haz›r giyim alan›nda hiçbir alt yap›s› bulun-

mayan ‹sveç’in H&M gibi bir moda devi ç›kard›¤› dünyada, Türki-

ye’nin bu yar›fl›n d›fl›nda kalmas›n›n düflünülemeyece¤ini belirten

Negrin, gelecek y›llarda en az 3 dünya markas› yaratmay› taahhüt

ettiklerini bildirdi. Firmalar›n baflar› ve karl›l›k oranlar›n› yükseltmek

için, ekonominin farkl› enstrümanlar›n› sektör ile buluflturduklar›n›

kaydeden Negrin, ihracat sigortas› alan›nda dünyan›n en önemli ku-

rumlar›ndan Coface’la yap›lan anlaflmayla yaklafl›k 5 milyar dolarl›k

ihracat riskini minimize ettiklerini ifade etti.

Loro Piana: ‹talya ekonomisine Türk dersi gerekiyor

Loro Piana’n›n CEO’su Pier Luigi Loro Piana, düflük gelir ucuz iflçinin

Cem Negrin: We will establish an export base of 1,5 milliondollars in two daysNegrin pointing out that around 3.000 bilateral meetings will berealized in two days between suppliers and buying groups, “We willestablish an export base which will provide a 10% increase in theTurkish ready wear export and this is equivalent to an export of 1,5million dollars.”Negrin , who pointed out that textile and ready wear industry is themost beneficial industry for Turkey with its foreign trade surplus of11,5 billion dollars in 2010, continued as follows: “The Agriculture-Food industry, which is the closest one following us, gave a deficitof only 4,3 billion dollars. That is to say that they could not evenreached our figures. The automotive industry, which sometimesjumps in front of us, gave a deficit of 3 billion dollars. In 2010 the

deficits given by sectors are asfollows: machinery-electronics19 billion dollars; mine-metalindustry 8,6 billion dollars andchemicals 6 billion dollars. Asthe textile machinery industrywe are the one providing themost export, the most employ-ment and the most foreign cur-rency.” Cem Negrin stated thatprotective taxes planned to beapplied to fabric import wouldnot be beneficial for the readywear export, “Already thewoven fabrics price started toincrease. Global companiesstarted to retrieve their orderdue to the planned precautions.However we know that if thereis no fabric manufacturer, thenthere is no ready wear manufac-turer. That’s why we should cre-

ate a new Turquality including energy or tax subventions for fabricmanufacturers. Thus we can enable our fabric manufacturers to sellgoods with the Far Eastern companies’ conditions. Within thisstructure, our ready wear export will run up and no one can copeup with Turkey”.In a world, in which a country like Sweden, which does not evenhave any background in ready wear, can create a world trademarklike H&M, Turkey cannot stay out of this race and Negrin addedthat they promise to create at least 3 world widely known trade-marks in forthcoming years. In order to increase the companies’ success and profitability rates,Negrin pointed out that they bring different instruments of theeconomy together with the industry and informed that they haveminimized approximately an export risk equivalent to 5 billion dol-lars by entering an agreement with one of the most important cor-porations, Coface, in the field of export insurance.

halinde baflar›n›n kendili¤inden gelece¤ini anlatan Piana, “Türki-

ye’de pek çok fabrika gezdim. Gördüm ki tecrübe ve bilgi birikimi

var. Birçok ülkenin yapamad›¤› tak›m elbise dikmeyi sizler çok iyi ya-

p›yorsunuz. Bu baflar›n›z› çok daha iyi noktalara yükseltebilirsiniz”

dedi. Piana, fabrikalar› bir bölgeden baflka bir bölgeye tafl›yarak ma-

liyetleri düflürmenin bir noktaya kadar fayda sa¤layabilece¤ini, an-

cak uzun vadede daha ucuzu üreten birileri ç›kt›¤›nda bu tafl›ma ifl-

lemlerinin de anlam›na yitirece¤ini ifade etti. ‹talya ile Türkiye eko-

nomisi k›yasland›¤›nda arada çok fark oldu¤una de¤inen Piana, flöy-

le devam etti: “‹talya’da yüzde 2’lik sabit bir büyüme söz konusu.

Ancak Türkiye ekonomisinde sizler yüzde 8’leri gördünüz. Ayr›ca

Whereas a growth rate of 8% has beenexperienced in Turkey. The buying strength of Turkey haschanged a lot since 2000. While the annual expense in 2000 was24 thousand dollars, today it is more than 60 thousand dollars.However the buying strength in Italy has not changed. In thatsense, I believe that we have a lot to learn from you being thebridge of Middle East as I see that you are better than us in thatissue.”

Turkey, was organized on May 18-22, 2011 at ‹stanbul Expo

Center. The exhibition was organized with the support of

Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade (DTM), TETSIAD (Turkey Home Textiles

Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association) and UTIB (Uluda¤

Exporters Association) and KOSGEB. This year EVTEKS 2011 was held with

the participation of 160 international companies. In addition to individual

participation, national participation of Belgium, Spain, India and Egypt

reflected an increase of 45% in the international participation to the exhi-

bition. Buyers came from about 60 countries to Evteks Exhibition.

Parallel events

The annual meeting of TBSL – The Austrian Association for Textile.

Clothing-Shoe and Leather Industry will take place at the

Kulturhaus Dornbirn on 13th September 2011. Some 150 to 200

member companies are expected. For the first time participants will

be able to combine their assembly with a visit to the DORNBIRN-

MFC. Lenzing AG will hold a work-shop from 12th to 16th

September in Vorarlberg with some 900 worldwide top customers.

The participation at the ornbirn-MFC is foreseen.

In a highly symbolic act a beech tree will be planted in the park of

the Textile College in Dornbirn on 30th of June 2011 in the presence

or representatives from the City of Dornbirn, the directorate of the

Textile College, local media and the Austrian-MFI.

leri endüstrisini bir araya getiren fuarlar› yaklafl›k 25 bin sektör

profesyoneli ziyaret etti. 32 ülkeden 445 firma ve firma tem-

silcili¤inin kat›ld›¤› fuarlar›; Azerbaycan, Beyaz Rusya, Bosna

Hersek, Bulgaristan, Fas, H›rvatistan, ‹ran, Karada¤, Kosova,

Makedonya, M›s›r, Rusya, S›rbistan ve Yunanistan’dan gelen

al›m heyetleri ziyaret etti.

The fairs which are considered as the most comprehensive

events of Turkey - the leading power of Eurasia - aim to meet

all expectations of the local and foreign textile investors. The

need of the sector to increase its manufacturing capacity upon

focusing on new target markets increased the interest placed

on the fair. The sector professionals desiring to make state-of-

art machine, yarn and raw material investments get the chan-

ce to examine the machines in operation and obtain informa-

tion on the advantages to decrease the manufacturing costs

at the fair. The fairs that will bring the textile, weaving, spin-

ning, knitting, embroidery and hosiery machine industries pro-

viding the second largest contribution to the economy of the

country after the automotive sector expect 25 thousand sec-

tor professionals.The fairs are attended by 445 companies and

company representatives from 32 different countries and visi-

ted by purchasing committees from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bos-

nia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Morocco, Croatia, Iran, Monteneg-

ro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Egypt, Russia, Serbia and Greece.

shirt fabrics after joint trials together. Special attention was focused

on the subject of width shrinkage. With the Section Control system,

shrinkage can be controlled even better, particularly in the area of

the selvedges. In the process, the new machinery continues to deliv-

er the well-known advantages of the Benninger Dimensa merceri-

sation technology .Thanks to this new development, it has been

possible to further reduce the cutting wastage during tailoring,

which in turn reduces costs. The key factor which swayed the bal-

ance of the investment cost calculations on the part of Esquel was

the controlled and low consumption of water, power and chemi-

the wet/wet principle. This means that the usual drying process

before the mercerising stage can be omitted. Even though this is

only one step within the overall value chain, the energy required to

manufacture a shirt - and therefore also the corresponding CO2

emissions - can be reduced by 5%. The main focus of the second

investment - a high-performance washing machine - was also on

the parameters water and energy. The Benninger Extracta washing

principle with its strict counterflow-based design has impressed the

customer enough to purchase a ninth machine. The outstanding

characteristic of this principle is the separation of the waste water

into partial flows, which makes waste heat recovery particularly

interesting and effective. Thanks to the integrated waste heat

recovery, 50% of the steam required for heating the washing baths

can be saved. The partnership between Esquel and Benninger has

been in place since 2005. Esquel has already operated nine

Benninger finishing machines for textile finishing of shirt fabrics and

knitwear. For both companies it is important to continue to increase

their technological lead, which is why several intensive technology

meetings and survey trips are held every year. The Esquel Group is

tanglement technology of Andritz Perfojet (Jetlace Essentiel unit,

Perfodry 3000 through-air dryer, and filtration system). Together

with the first line, which was also supplied by Andritz Perfojet

and went on stream during the first quarter of 2010, this will gi-

uring the Index 11 show in Geneva, Dilo Group has

finalized a contract with Mogul Tekstil Sanayi ve Ti-

The cards have a large working width and deliver the web to a

water-entanglement line. In addition Betap Tufting BV, Nether-

lands, has ordered from Dilo two complete nonwoven lines for

the production of floor coverings. These highly efficient lines inc-

lude not only fibre preparation, web forming and consolidation,

but also needle looms for structuring and patterning.

ets the requirements of knitted fabric manufacturers: Substanti-

ally reduced cutting waste, minimum maintenance, long life, and

easy retrofitting of old cutting devices. Quite a number of sop-

histicated details reflect more than 90 years of experience of Er-

hardt+Leimer in the field of web guiding and cutting systems.

Long-life blades that can be used on both sides, an actuator al-

lowing exact positioning of the system via two push buttons, or

automatic follow-up control of the cutting devices by web edge

via sensors guarantee top performance at minimum effort.

There are three versions of Elcut BTA 80: The basic version is

supplied with an actuator allowing exact manual positioning via

two push buttons. The second basic version includes a sensor

with a captive range of +/- 3 mm. When the web width changes

the sensor has to be positioned manually once, then the system

automatically follows the web edge. The premium version is

supplied with a wide band sensor that has a captive range of +/-

75 mm. When the web width changes the new position of the

web edge is fixed at the push of a button. Due to its wide capti-

ve range the web is always in the field view of the sensor.

Using trough and roller techniques, the Eco-applicatorapplies a liquid coating to a single side of the fabric, both sides, orapplies a liquid to one side of the fabric and a different liquid to theother side.The new process is available in a number of ranges suit-able for felt finishes, coated materials and medical textiles. The company will also be demon-strating its new Wefttronic machine platform, which is said to offerimproved weft-insertion in terms of width and square metre pro-duction rate. The central machine unit is fitted on both sides withan optimised weft chain and operates at a wider working width of268 inches. The display will include Karl Mayer’s V-creel, engi-neered to guarantee constant yarn tension over the length andwidth of the warp. The yarn feeding equipment operates withoutany guide elements or deflection points. Air resistance is reduced asa result of the shorter creel length. These elements ensure themachine operates at production speeds of up to 1,200 m/min. Inaddition, the company will be showcasing its Sucker-Size staple-fibre sizing unit. The size is applied to the warp yarn in the applica-tion system using the ‘double dip, double nip’ process. This processis said to improve the adhesion of the sizing agent to the yarn sur-face, as well as reducing hairiness. Finally, the exhibit will includethe Warp-Direct warping machine, engineered to provide perfectlycylindrical beam build-up and uniform surfaces by maintaining uni-form yarn tension and contact pressure. The back beams, with atoothed internal taper of 40°, are fitted as standard.

Newest innovations in the field of nonwoven technologyDouble Roller Unit for smoothening and calibrating - Uniform line pres-sure, in combination with a uniform gap width, ensures optimal resultsIn our constant efforts to adapt the products of the Trützschler Nonwo-vens Group to the requirements of the market, the calender, the foampadder and the calibration unit of our production program have beenredesigned. The target was to unify the double roller unit to a commonconstructional base and at the same time adjust the single aggregatesto our customer’s needs today. The result is a machine consisting of tworollers which can be used as a calibration unit, calender, foam padder,squeezing unit or printing unit. Depending on the requirements of theprocess the rolls can be installed horizontal or vertical. The diameter ofthe roller is chosen based on standard roll diameters according to theactual pressure needed and the process requirements. The pressure isgenerated pneumatically; an electro mechanical pressure generation isforeseen only for calibration units with special requirements. Of coursethe rolls can be cooled, heated or cooled and heated. 1999 y›l›ndan bu yana desteklenen tüm projelerde TÜB‹TAK

taraf›ndan yap›lan katk› Lafer Türk ve TTM firmalar›na, daha

sonraki Ar-Ge çal›flmalar› için firmalar›n önünü açarak yeni

projelerinin oluflmas›n› sa¤lad› ve finansal aç›dan cesaret ver-

di. Yararlan›lan hibe destekler ile Ar-Ge kadrosundaki nitelikli

mühendis say›s› artt› ve daha fazla proje üzerinde çal›flabilme

olana¤› sa¤land›.

2007 y›l›nda tasar›m›na bafllanan, 2008 y›l›nda Ar-Ge çal›flma-

lar› ve yürütülen ilgili projenin tamamlanmas› ile seri üretimine

geçilen, gerek yurt içinde, gerekse yurt d›fl›nda say›lar› 80’i bu-

lan TTM markal› Ram-X model ram makineleri, bugün Türkiye

ve tekstil endüstrisinin merkezi olan birçok ülkede tercih edi-

len teknolojiler olmaya devam ediyor.

K›sa süre içinde 100. ram makinesi üretim parkurundan ç›ka-

cak olan TTM firmas›, 22-29 Eylül 2011 tarihlerinde Barcelo-

na’da gerçekleflecek olan ITMA 2011 Tekstil Makineleri Fua-

r›’nda, bugüne dek yap›lan yenilefltirme ve gelifltirme çal›flma-

lar›n›n gözlenebilece¤i en yeni teknolojilerin tan›t›m›n› yapa-

cak.

Bugün dahi TTM markal› ram makineleri ile di¤er ram makine-

lerinin farkl› tip kumafllardaki üretim kapasiteleri, enerji tüke-

timleri ve di¤er ilgili veriler toplan›yor ve Ar-Ge bölümü gelifl-

tirme çal›flmalar›na devam ediyor.

Tasar›m› tamamlanan bu yeni ram makinesi tamamen kullan›-

c›lar›n uzun y›llar di¤er markal› ram makinelerinden edindi¤i

tecrübelerinin, TTM Ar-Ge bölümü ile ortak çal›flmas›n›n sonu-

cudur. ‹lk makineden bugün üretimi devam eden en son ma-

kineye kadar yine müflteri beklentileri ve de¤iflen teknolojiler

ile birlikte çeflitli gelifltirmeler yap›ld› ve bu geliflmeler mevcut

TTM markal› ram makinelerine de uyguland›.

State Prof.Dr. Mehmet Ayd›n, who is responsible of science

and technology. On behalf of HAS Group companies the pro-

duction manager Mr.Recep De¤irmenci informed about their

own success stories and finally provided information about

the stenter machine whose project is just completed. Since

1999, the contribution made by TUBITAK to all supported pro-

jects enabled Later Türk and TTM companies to create new

projects by encouraging companies for further R&D studies.

Thanks to the donation supports, the number of qualified en-

gineers working in the R&D team increased and the opportu-

nity to work on more projects was caught.

The project of Ram-X model stenter machines have started in

the year of 2007 and they start serial production in the year

of 2008 still continue to be the stenter machines preferred in

Turkey and also in many countries which are the sentres of the

textile industry which is the textile capital of world markets.

With its completed design, this new stenter machine is enti-

rely the result of the experiences of the users obtained from

other brans stenter machines for many years and it is also the

common work of TTM, R&D Department.

We also employ foreign engineers in our team for many of the

implemented projects and we are continuing to design the

machines of the future with a creative team spirit in the result

of the experiences of yesterday and today’s practices.

Even today, production capacities, energy consumptions and

other relevant data are collected for TTM brand stenter Mac-

hines and for the other stenter machines and R&D Depart-

ments continues their development works.

Whether for the com-prehensive input of values for start-mark correction, or for settingthe most important parameters for standard products: The valuesare completely reproducible and the setting is achieved with only afew operational steps. As on a domestic PC, pattern or product da-ta is transferred via USB stick or, alternatively, by Ethernet Interfaceif the weaving machine is linked to a bidirectional operating datasystem. Dornier ErgoWeave® offers the weaver various useful func-tions, such as the production of statistical evaluations over the en-tire weaving process or the recording and elimination of stoppagecauses via a system diagnosis tool.

Dornier system familyIn the modular construction of the Dornier system family, compri-sing airjet and rapier weaving machines, the important elements ofFT control also provide significant benefits. Approximately 95% ofelectronic and 65% of the mechanical subassembly componentsare of identical construction. This simplifies the maintenance andoperation of the machine types in weaving mills which utilise bothDornier rapier and air-jet weaving machines. Textile production ob-tains optimum flexibility and productivity for current market requ-irements in this way.

Evenwith running speeds of more than 1,000 rpm, this layout preventsthe compressed air tubes from getting into contact with each otherwhich, if they do, can result in leakages and premature failure. Inaddition, this provides a clearer view and, in case of a filling break,a trouble free access to the weft ends. The integrated pressure re-gulation plus semi-automatic filling threading also greatly improvesoperator handling. Other important improvements are also to befound in the throttle block and the relay nozzles. The throttle blockcan be easily repositioned to the required fabric width with onlyone tool. If necessary, the width adjustment can also be madesymmetrically. The flow-optimised Dornier single hole relay nozzleis maintenance-free and uncomplicated. The special conical bore ofthe nozzle ensures that an air stream which impinges on the tip ofthe weft yarn at supersonic speed does not destroy it, but carries itthrough the shed in the most efficient way. With these featuresmachine downtimes are further reduced and fabric quality is impro-ved.

Process reliability and new valve technologyThe patented Dornier PIC® system (Permanent Insertion Control) re-cognises imprecise operation in the case of every magnetic valve in-volved in weft insertion from the very beginning, thereby guaran-teeing maximum process reliability. Considerable reductions in airconsumption are also achieved with the new valve technology dueto there ultra short switching times.Another optimisation provides the option of using only two relaynozzles per valve, reducing the dead volume in the air lines and the-refore air consumption. These improvements are decisive successfactors of the new technology in practice.

weave high warp densities prob-lem- free. The Electronic ColorSelector ECS and the electronicyarn brake with integrated fillingstop motion EFC are based onmodern stepping motor techno-logy. In micro-step operation,yarn presentation in the color se-lector is effected with an auto-matic monitoring and correctingfunction of the yarn needle stro-ke. Low tear strength yarns andhighly tensioned heavyweightweft yarns, such as 2,400 texglass for example, can be proces-sed without any problems. This intelligent drive enables very low speed variation, faciliating aso far unachievable speed potential for dobby and Jacquard wea-ving mills. Shed closing times are also adjustable via the Dornier Er-goWeave® even at full speed, giving rise to new patterning possibi-lities with improved fabric quality. Markedly smoother machine run-ning, and consequently a smaller load on the shaft/heddle system,produces a very good fabric quality and results in a longer workinglife of mechanical components.

Energy efficiency and sustainabilityAll of Lindauer Dornier GmbH´s developments are considered fromthe important viewpoint of energy efficiency and sustainability.In the case of energy efficiency, it comes down to the sum of theindividual components, so that, at the bottom line, a user will se-e appreciable savings. This is the overall aim of the FT controlconcept, which consists not only of the drive motor but also ofthe weft insertion control with the Dornier ServoControl®-2 incombination with the PWC clamp in order to save on holding air.Experience to date has shown that a reduction in compressed airrequirement of 10 to 20% is achievable. The complete “weavingmill” system, including compressed air supply from the compres-sors, should be considered here. A lower compressed air require-ment in volumetric and pressure terms means a smaller energyrequirement and therefore reduced environmental CO2 polluti-on. This is a contribution to sustainability which will, in time, befollowed by others. It also includes fully responsible handling ofthe yarn material to be processed. For example selvedge wastecan be reduced by over 50% with the new DuoColor unit for ra-pier weaving machines.

ted with adjustable walls. This innovative design makes it pos-

sible to process full and partial loads of a wide range of light

and heavy weight articles. The Teflon lined chamber allowing

the material to flow forwards with minimal resistance, to-

wards the take off point just below the winch.

The “iMaster H2O” lacks an external winch housing, which in

a conventional rope fabric dyeing machine sits above the kier

making their cleaning and maintenance difficult. The machi-

ne's winch is now located inside the main kier, each winch of

a multi rope machine being driven by a separate motor. The

position of the winch reel and the intensive zone making it

possible to load the machine without a lead rope. Should it be

necessary to change or service a reel this can be carried out in

series of simple steps.

A lower fabric lifting height and segmented roller reducing

the stress on the material, especially those containing high le-

vels of elastane, eliminating the labour intensive and time

consuming process of “re bagging”.

With the textile finisher aiming to optimise the results at mi-

nimum cost, whilst striving to continuously improve the pro-

cess. The “iMaster H2O” provides a means to carry out all wet

processing; including pre-treatment, bleaching, dyeing, rin-

sing and post treatments, at varying liquor ratios and at fab-

ric speeds of between 90 to 500 m/minute. Offering flexibility

in the treatment processes and where possible a reduction in

the use of chemicals and textile auxiliaries. New functions, in

combination with well proven systems, allowing the user to

create a highly effective production unit.

In comparison with conventional hydraulic and aerodynamic

dyeing machines the “iMaster H2O” fabric speed, nozzle pres-

sure and the plaiter are automatically synchronised. A Quick

Stop rope detector instantly recognising a problem and shut-

ting down the winch in less than 1 second; preventing a bu-

ild up of fabric and avoiding running marks and damage to

the material's surface. Eliminating rope entanglement and the

need for operator intervention; the process proceeds unhin-

dered and uninterrupted. The gentle and secure treatment of

the material resulting in a high quality end product with an

excellent surface finish.

Contact between the dye liquor and the material takes place

in the newly designed Intensive Zone, which consists of a

single unit containing the nozzle, intensive zone and the plai-

ter driven by a frequency controlled motor, so eliminating pi-

ling and pyramiding of the fabric; in the past a common cau-

se of rope entanglement.

The optimised discharge of the liquor from the Intensive Zone

and the use of a newly developed Turbulence Protector allow

the machine to run 100% cotton at an ultra low liquor ratio

of 1:3.7. Synthetic fibres which have a much lower “carry

over”, can be run at lower

liquor ratios. Even with high

levels of liquor turbulence

the degree of aeration is to-

tally controlled, ensuring a

level dyeing. This significant

reduction in liquor ratio

helping to improve “batch

to batch” reproducibility

and the number of “right

first time” dyeings.

The following diagram

shows a typical reactive

dyeing on 100% cotton

(Fig. 2). With the process

divided into bleaching, dyeing and post treatment stages.

In the above example the individual program steps have been

optimised, bleaching taking place at a liquor ratio of 1:6, dye-

ing at 1:3.7 and rinsing and post treatment at 1:4.5.

Quicker drainage, draining at 92°C and the possibility to heat

up the liquor during filling the machine reduce the total cycle

time. With a typical material carry over of 2 litres/kg, the

process water is reduced to approximately 30 litres/kg.

In comparison with dyeing at a liquor ratio of 1:6, a saving of

circa 33% process water, and in the case of a machine using

a liquor ratio of 1:8 a reduction of 53%. In addition there is a

proportional reduction in the amount of auxiliaries and che-

micals which are used at a rate of x g/litre or x ml/litre.

If the amount of salt used to dye at a liquor ratio of 1:6 is 60

The controller calculating the number of baths required to re-

duce the salt concentration to 1g/litre, and remove any remai-

ning dyestuff (hydrolysed) while lowering the fabric tempera-

ture ready for unloading.

A more efficient cooling and rinsing can be obtained by using

CCR (Combined Cooling and Rinsing), a feature which combi-

nes the cooling and rinsing

operations into a single step.

The preheated water produced

by the heat exchanger during

the cooling process is directed

into the machine and used for

rinsing the fabric; the cooling

gradient of which is freely

programmable.

An innovative Pressure Vessel

regulator helps to significantly

reduce the consumption of

compressed air, by allowing

drainage of the machine at or

below 92°C. Eliminating the

need for “waiting time” when

the vessel is de-pressurised.

The option of a HT-drain

which discharges into a closed

drainage system at an eleva-

ted temperature reduces the

cooling water consumption

and the process time. An ad-

vantage when dyeing PES articles is the reduced level of oli-

gomer residue on the fabric and oligomer deposits in the

machine, so that the use of oligomer binders and post treat-

ments can be minimised or reduced to zero.

The newly developed Smart Dosing System yields improved

shade levelness while also reducing the dosing time, the prog-

ramming parameters for which are displayed on a user fri-

endly touch screen. All other fabric, chemical and dyestuff da-

ta important in the preparation of program can also be loa-

ded into the controller; and used to generate programs of op-

timum flexibility.

An Integrated Filter built into the liquor circulation system

continuously cleans the bath removing lint and other conta-

minants. The filter is automatically cleaned each time the

machine is drained, avoiding the need for manual interventi-

on, and ensuring that it is properly cleaned between each

batch. This reduces the machines “down time”, minimise ma-

intenance and improves the reliability of the process, by ensu-

ring that the system maintains a uniform liquor pressure.

The total process in a dyeing machine is highly reliant on the

operating environment, a delay in the supply of sufficient

fresh water or water at the correct temperature, causing the

machine to wait. By using a 100% stock tank, filled and pre-

pared in parallel with other machine functions the next bath

is automatically ready for the following step. A process en-

hanced by a rapid transfer system between the tank and the

machine also saving time.

To preheat the water the 100% stock tank is equipped with

indirect heating. Alternatively if a hot and cold water supply

is available these can also be mixed to achieve a targeted

temperature, so making more efficient use of available reso-

urces.

The “one off” input of Batch Parameters at the start of a

program, batch size, liquor ratio and material carry over ma-

ke it easy to edit existing dyeing programs. In turn reducing

the amount and number of programs, in which it is no lon-

ger necessary to enter batch data in each step of a program.

The “iMaster H2O” series is offered in three different capaci-

ties with nominal rope loadings of 100 kg, 200 kg and 250

kg, available with from 1 to 8 chambers and offering a wide

range of batch capacities from 100 kg to 2000 kg. The

machines excellent reproducibility levels means that batches

of varying sizes can be processed without difficulties.

In the technical centre located in Coesfeld, Thies have ava-

ilable an “iMaster H2O” and other machines, for trials by cus-

tomers using their own fabrics. It is also possible to carry out

tests under production conditions using the company's latest

developments in waste water treatment, chemical and dyes-

tuff dispensing.

As an additional option Thies also offer for new machine ins-

tallations the internal machine piping,

(Fig. 4) eliminating the need for local fabrication. All the pi-

ping is brought to a central header, and includes the neces-

sary high quality shut-off valves, steam traps, non-return val-

ves and strainers.

Increased productivity, while simultaneously improving the

process and its reproducibility, offers the textile entreprene-

ur new opportunities and a new perspective. The many inno-

vations introduced by Thies to conserve resources while en-

hancing production are summarised in the company's new

motto: “Go green whit Thies”.
