English Baptism Classes / Clases en Español
Two required Baptism Classes in English and in Spanish will be held on Thursdays, September 7th &14th at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. English Baptisms: Saturday, September 16th. attend 5p.m. Mass. Spanish Baptisms: Sunday, September 17th. attend the 12 p.m. Mass. Bap-tisms will be after the Mass you attend. Please sign up at the Church Office and bring the child’s Birth Certificate. Proceeds from this event will be used to support CDA’s scholarship program and charitable projects.
Prayer Blanket Ministry: A gift of love The Prayer Blanket Ministry provides comfort to those in need of support and prayer. A community of faith relies on God and one another to travel life's journey. Prayers are offered for recipients as the blankets are constructed by members of this ministry and thereafter are blessed by the priest. Who is eligible to receive a blanket? •Adults or children with a physical or emotional illness •Individuals preparing for surgery or recovering from an acute illness •Individuals living with a chronic condition or in treatment for a life-threatening illness •High-risk pregnancy, miscarriage or neonatal crisis •Individuals who are experiencing a crisis such as the loss of a loved one If you or a loved one is in need of a Prayer Blanket you may obtain one at the church office or in the sacristy at the back of the church. St. John the Baptist ACTS Core Team would like to invite you to think about serving on the Core Team. Four positions will be coming up in the next 6 months to serve. If you are interested in serving on the Core Team please submit your name, address and phone number to Lela Hoffmann, Facilitator (832)755-5863. The term for serving is for a 3-year term. Please prayerfully consider this service. Would you like to help your ACTS brothers and sister serve and come together past their ACTS retreat? The ACTS Core Team would like to have 4 different activities per year that put ACTS into motion: Adoration: Plan a night of adoration for families to come together for praise and worship once per year and possibly close with fellowship in the hall. Community: This event will serve as our major fund-raiser to help defer the overall costs of our retreat and/or help with a scholarship for retreatants. It would be a large community event socialization etc. Theology - This would be open for many options of adult formation - Small groups - speakers Service -"The Big Give" we would like to reach out to members of our community and participate in a weekend of giving back. Forming groups/teams to help those in need with yard work, painting, general repairs. We are excited about the possibilities that could happen if we are able to make these things a reality. If you would like to serve on a team or chair a committee - please send your contact information to Lela Hoffmann, Facilitator or any of the Core Team Members - The Core Team meets on the 2nd Monday of the month and you are always welcome to attend.
