Prayers are powerful and important for those in our parish community who are ill or need our support. We ask you to help us keep the list current by renewing the prayer request weekly and by letting us know when the person has recovered. In an effort to ensure our prayer re-quest list is up to date, at the end of each month we will remove anyone from the list for whom we do not have a current request. Thank you for your cooperation and your prayers for our parishioners in need.

In Need Of A Prayer? If you or a member of your family is in need of a prayer, or has been hospitalized or is homebound, please inform the parish staff. Call the office or e-mail us at office@la- salettecanton.com. Also, we have a Prayer Request book in the back of the church. These requests will be remem-bered in prayer during Adoration on Wednes-days.

Jesus' love transforms all people and all things! Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time

Week of November 3, 2013

Listen to the Word (Luke 19:1-10) As you listen to the familiar story in today’s reading, what word or phrase catches your ear? What image from the story strikes you?

Look into your life

Question for children: Jesus showed that he loved Zacchaeus by having supper with him. How does Jesus show his love for you? Question for youth: Jesus saw Zacchaeus as he was – mistakes and all. What masks, if any, do you hide behind so others won't see who you really are? Who do you trust to see your true self? Question for adults: Why do you suppose Jesus was so kind to Zacchaeus? What lesson do you draw from this reading regarding those who are considered "public sinners" today?

Activities for the week

• Sit down as a household and talk about those people whom you consider least welcome in your house. Are they people against whom you have a prejudice? Neighbors whom you don’t like? Family members against whom you hold a grudge? Of others? Choose one name from this list and plan how to reconcile.

• Invite family members to make special "welcome" placements for a simple supper you make. Invite people whom you know but haven't seen in a while to come to supper and share with them.

• Read the newspaper together to see who in your community is rejected and hated, including prisoners, immigrants, and others. Become more aware of these people and if possible, help them feel welcome.

Readings for the Week of November 3, 2013 Sunday, November 3 - Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time Wis 11:22 - 12:2 Ps 145:1-2, 8-11, 13-14 2 Thes 1:11-2:2 Lk 19:1-10 The Lord is full of mercy and compassion, slow to anger and of great kindness. He has come to search out and save what was lost. Let us be more concerned with doing the Lord’s work than with idle speculation about when he will come again. Monday, November 4 - St. Charles Borromeo, bishop Rom 11:29-36 Ps 69:30-31, 33-34 Lk 14:12-14 Sinful humanity is mysteriously redeemed by God’s mercy and love. No one is to be excluded from the table of the Lord. Tuesday, November 5 - Weekday Rom 12:5-16b Ps 13:1-3 Lk 14:15-24 Serve one another in love, in humility and simplicity of heart. All are invited to share in the Lord’s banquet, especially the poor. Wednesday, November 6 - Weekday Rom 13:8-10 Ps 112:1-2, 4-5, 9 Lk 14:25-33 Discipleship entails both prudence and the renouncement of attachments. But above all, it entails love. Thursday, November 7 - Weekday Rom 14:7-12 Ps 27:1, 4, 13-14 Lk 15:1-10 We are to wait in hope for the Lord whose judgment is a divine prerogative. The Father seeks out the lost and delights in repentance, in those who have been found. Friday, November 8 - Weekday Rom 15:14-21 Ps 98:1-4 Lk 16:1-8 The Lord has revealed to the nations the gospel of Jesus Christ. As his disciples, we are to be in the world but not of it. Saturday, November 9 - Dedication of the Lateran Basilica Ez 47:1-2, 8-9, 12 Ps 46:2-3, 5-6, 8-9 1 Cor 3:9c-11, 16-17 Jn 2:13-22 Waters flowing from the temple, the dwelling place of the Lord, bring forth life and growth. Jesus is the living sanctuary, we are his living body in Spirit. Sunday, November 10 - Thirty-second Sun. in Ordinary Time 2 Mc7:1-2, 9-14 Ps 17:1, 5-6, 8, 15 2 Thes 2:16-3:5 Lk 20:27-38 In response to an attempt to ridicule his teaching about life after death, Jesus again proclaims a resurrection from the dead, that life is indeed stronger than death itself. This is our eternal consolation and hope. Then will our joy be truly fulfilled. .

Corresponsabilidad de acuerdo a la Biblia

3 noviembre 2013

eficiente.”

Stewardship by the Bible

November 3, 2013

Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time

We are called to be good stewards of our personal

vocations. St. Paul’s prayer for the Thessalonians is

therefore ours, too – “that our God may make us

worthy of his calling and powerfully bring to fulfill-

ment every good purpose and every effort of faith.”

November —The Month of Giving Thanks! Noviembre —¡El Mes de Dar Gracias! Gratitude is a very powerful tool in life.

(Take a piece of paper and spend time every day remembering and writing down the blessings, people and things that you are grateful for.

Thank you... Gracias... Dear friends in Christ, Thank you for your expression of love and support last weekend as we celebrated Priesthood Sunday. It is a privilege for me to share my faith with all of you, and to share in your joys, hopes, and times of trial and sadness. Thanks especially to the children in the Religious Education program for the beautiful cards they handcrafted, they bring a smile to my face every time I see them. I am profoundly grateful for your generous friendship. May our good and gracious God continue to bless all of you with an abundance of grace! Rev. Rev. Victor Reyes
