Today, Winsor & Newton, makers of theworld’s finest sable brush, the Series 7, first made for QueenVictoria, constantly innovate and improve the quality of theirbrushes, maintaining one of the largest ranges of artists’ brushesavailable.

This booklet provides you with all the information you need toknow on the new range of Cirrus Kolinsky Sables available fromWinsor & Newton. General information is available on this sideand on the reverse is a handy table showing head shapes andusage of the different series within Cirrus. So choosing the rightbrush is simple!

WHY SABLE?Sable hair is an excellent material for artists’ brushes. Eachindividual hair has a belly which tapers to a perfect point. Whenthe hair is formed together the hairs form a point which springsback into shape during and after use. In addition, to the shape, thehair is covered in natural ‘scales’ which increase the surface area, resulting in excellent colour carrying capacity.

THE ‘NEW’ CIRRUS RANGEThe new Cirrus range has been developed to give you a quality sable at anaffordable price. The comprehensive range of suitable head shapes and sizes offers a brushfor your every need. Cirrus brushes are made from pure Kolinsky Sable. Each brush is carefullyhand made by our skilled brush makers.

The Benefits of a Cirrus brush:

• Fine Point:Produces detail marks using all sizes of brushes.

• Excellent Spring:Point naturally maintained during painting, giving better control of your colour.

• Excellent colour carrying capacity:Larger areas can be covered without the need to re-charge your brush with colour.

• Watercolour rounds ( 110 ) have a larger belly compared to synthetic hair brushes:Gives a distinctive tapered point to the head.

• Hand crafted:Perfectly formed and inspected individually.

• Kolinsky sable hair:Longer lasting point than synthetic brushes.

• Seamless ferrules:Prevents corrosion.

• Handle shape:Provides balance and comfort when painting.

• Attractive ultramarine stained handle:Extra hard finish prevents water penetration.

CARE AND CLEANING OF BRUSHESTo ensure the best performance and long lasting quality, follow these simple rules.

1. Always clean the brushes after use with the appropriate solvent ( water or turpentine) followed by plenty of warm water and soap.
