Colonel Ronel Otto of the Police in Limpopo sayts information indicated that Mr Sarel Janse van Rensburg, the farm manager on the farm Tonteldoos, was alone at the main house on the farm when he was approached by two suspects at around 11:00 last week Thursday. They forced him inside the house where he was assaulted with a sharp object. He died on the scene. Farm workers saw men running away from the house and alerted the Police as well as neighbouring farmers. Two suspects aged 21 and 25 were spotted and arrested. Some stolen goods from the house were found in their possession, namely a small money box as well as other smaller items. Cases of murder and robbery are being investigated. Two suspects were arrested shortlyafter an incident in which a farmmanager was killed on a farm in theLaersdrift area.

It is Tubatse ChromeFestival time this weekend!

The annual Tubatse Chrome Festivalkicks off today at 14:00 and everyone isinvited to come and join in the fun andfestivities today and tomorrow.The Friday programme of the festivalstarts off with DJ Ferdie gettingeveryone in the mood for a party.At 17:30 Tanya will take the stage andshe will be followed by Michelle Leigh at19:00. Willem Botha starts the aftereight shows and he will be followed byBongi at 21:00. Bongi proved verypopular at another event in the area lastmonth and he will have you on thedance floor with just the right beat ofpopular songs. He had three “We wantmore!” call backs.

The evening’s entertainment line-up will end with Stiaan taking youthrough to midnight.Entrance for Friday will be R40per person.Saturday DJ Ferdie starts the beatagain and at 12:30 Johan DuBruto will be on stage. AT 15:30David Fourie will take over the liveshow line-up. He will be followedby Ampie at 17:00 and DewaldWasserfall at 18:30.Klopjag’s Afrikaans pop music willkeep the dance floor busy from20:00 and Juba will finish theevening’s live entertainment.As always there will be loads to do

as well. On Wednesday this week HeritageDay was celebrated with a publicholiday. This day is meant tocelebrate the different cultures inSouth Africa and to create unitybetween the different people living inthe country.It is also so-called Braai Day andSouth Africans are encouraged tounite next to the braai fires.Platinum Gazette spoke to somereaders on Wednesday. We askedthem whether they celebrate the dayas Heritage Day, Braai Day or justanother public holiday?

Ms. Hazel Malatji said: “I’mwearing my traditionaldress to support HeritageDay. It is such an importantday. I’ll braai later with myfamily and we’ll all weartraditional clothes”.

Ms Lydia Malapane and Ms ThandiweMkhabela were both dressed for theoccasion. Lydia said: “It’s braai daytoday! I’ll have a braai at home withsome beef. I’m also nicely dressed toshow respect for this day”. Thandiwesaid: “To me it is only Heritage Day, nobraai today”.

Mnr. Jaco en Me. Samantha Dyssel sê: “Dis net ‘nBraaidag vandag. Ons gaan ribbetjies, wors, hoenderen steak braai vandag. Ons gaan genoeg braai vir dieres van die week!” By hulle is Zayden.

Ms Pamela Fabi said: “It’s Braai Dayand Heritage Day to me. This is notjust a public holiday. I will braai withmy family when I finish work”.

Mr Correy Thankge said: “Today isa day with a little bit of everything.We had to bury one of our churchmembers, but we’ll also celebrateHeritage Day. We’ll be making abraai later on”.

Right: Ms Stokkie Phiri said: “Todayis a public holiday and we celebrateboth Heritage Day and Braai Day. I’mgoing to cook for my family though –a traditional mala mogodu meal tocelebrate our heritage. My kids mustgrow up knowing their culture”. Withher are Boitumelo and Thato.

Mr Papi Makgate said:“Heritage Day is veryimportant. We need tocelebrate it so the childrencan learn from us aboutour heritage. I celebrate ittogether with Braai Dayand as a public holiday. I’lllater have a braai withsome boerewors”.

Ms Rosina Mogano said: “It is a dayof everything. It is important thatpeople remember our heritage. Latein the afternoon, we’ll braai and eatthe meat with traditional food suchas marogo and mabele porridge(pap)”. With her is Sigobane.

Mr Anthony Malepe said:“I generalise this day.Some people celebrateit well. I’m now from theTjati Heritage Site wherewe visited. Yes, we’llbraai today as well –some beef, pork andwors”. With him isMogau.

Mr Valley Mohlalaand Ms TretjieMkhondo said:“It’s a special day.It shows that we aretogether.We will celebrate itwith our family.Unfortunately thereis not enoughmoney for a braai,but we’ll be watch-ing movies toge-ther”. With them isPrecious.

Modikwa’s new cyclingteam getting fit

Modikwa Platinum Mine recently started theircycling team and in the past two weeks theseemployees have been practising with a timetrail event.They used a route from the Modikwa Minemain gate to South Shaft 2 on toDoornbosch.

The team is getting fit so that they can startparticipating in upcoming mountain bikeraces.The were looking forward to enter theKyalami 24 Hour MTB race, but unfortunatelythis event has been postponed to next year.

On Wednesday 24 September the TubatseMasters FC played against Burgersfort MallFC at the Sekhukhune FET College inPraktiseer. In the first half Tubatse Mastersdominated ball possession and managed toscore one goal by Andrew Skosana. At halftime the score stood at 1-0 in favour of theTubatse Masters.In the second half Burgersfort Mall playersfought back. On Saturday 20 September TubatseMasters hosted Phasha SelatoleMasters at the Sekhukhune FETCollege in Praktiseer.In the first half both teams createdmany scoring opportunities and theTubatse Masters was first to score.Lekgotla Motswiane and AndrewSkosana scored the first two goals forthe hosts. The visiting team managedto score one goal by Peter Monnye tobring the half time score to 2-1 infavour of Tubatse Masters. In thesecond half Tubatse Masters cameback very strong and managed toscore another three goals by AllyMaimela, Noko Malatji and PitsoSehlabela. ASA Metals athletesperform in Musina

ASA Metals’ athletes competed in the Musina marathon in the10 and 21,1km races on 13 September 2014.This was their first race after the Comrades Marathon earlierthis year.Their results for the 10km race: Isaiah Magabe - 36min (silvermedal), Elneth Thulare - 45min (silver medal) and RufusMalepe - 58min (silver medal). Their results for the 21.1kmrace were: Junior runner Tshepo Sekgobela runs for the ASAMetals team but participate in the under 18 age category. Hewas the junior race winner with a time of 1:23. He won a goldmedal and prize money. Other results: Pienas Magashule -2:24 (bronze medal); Abednigo Tjie - 1:32 (bronze medal)and Ronny Maroga - 1:36 (bronze medal). The athletesthanked the ASA Management Team for supporting themwith transport to the race.

Provincial cross country trailsat Hoërskool Lydenburg

The Mussa CrossCountry Provincialselection trails werehosted at HoërskoolLydenburg onSaturday last week.Runners from all overthe province gatheredto show what they aremade of. The first sixplaces in each agecategory wereselected to go andparticipate in thenational event.Distances variedaccording to age andgender categories.Hoërskool Lydenburgrunners performedwell and a few will begoing to the nationals.

Steelpoort Academy runners were keen to show thatthey are not afraid of the long distance races.
