3. PREPARATIONS TO TRACTOR AND PLOUGH

PREPARATIONS TO TRACTOR

Tyres: Tyre pressure, especially the tractor's rear wheels, must be equal. During ploughing it should be 0.8 bar.

Lifting rods: The lifting rods H must be set (differently) so that landside and plough beam are at right angles to the ground a, b. If the lifting rods H can be adjusted on the lower connecting rods U, then they should be set as far back as possible. This relieves the load on the tractor's hydraulic system.

Lateral stability of lower connecting rods: The lower connecting rods U need to have maximum possible lateral movement during operation. Stabilizing bars or tension chains S must never be tight during ploughing. During transportation, the lateral movement of the lower connecting rods U must be greatly reduced or fully blocked.

Front axle loading: Steering accuracy when using mounted ploughs, as well as enough load transmission for the front axles of 4 wheel drive tractors, needs to be achieved by the use of sufficient front ballast (front weights, wheel disc weights or front loaders).

PREPARATIONS TO PLOUGH

Lubrication: All lubrication points are to be lubricated (see lubrication plan).

Protective varnish: Peel off protective layer from plough blades and mould boards.

LUBRICATION PLAN

Page 13: Operating Manual - AMAZONE Ersatzteil Datenbank · 2017. 2. 2. · E-mail:info@vogel-noot.net When making enquiries or orders please state construction year, machine no., and plough

9

Lubrication points A must be lubricated regularly with a grease gun (lubricator nipple). The spindles must also be greased regularly.

4. MOUNTING AND DISMOUNTING THE PLOUGH

MOUNTING PLOUGH TO TRACTOR

The plough is connected to the tractor as follows:

• Set hydraulic control of tractor to position control.• Connect lower connecting rods to quick hitch bar and secure with linch pins.• Release stand support, push upward and secure again.• It must be possible for the plough to swing freely to the side during operation.• During transportation, the lower articulated rod must not swing to the side too much.• The procedure for releasing and securing the articulated rod may vary depending on the tractor

model. The operating instructions of the tractor manufacturer must also be observed.

• Connect upper connection rods of tractor in one of the three holes (2 slots and 1 hole) in the mountingbody with connecting bolt and secure with linch pin. Preferably use one of the long slots in the mountingbody so that top link can move freely during ploughing (advantageous on hilly ground). Connect upperconnecting rod in such a way that attachment point on plough is somewhat higher than that ofattachment on tractor during operation.

• For plough work set hydraulic control to traction control or mixed control. Please refer also to theoperating manual of tractor manufacturer.

Page 14: Operating Manual - AMAZONE Ersatzteil Datenbank · 2017. 2. 2. · E-mail:info@vogel-noot.net When making enquiries or orders please state construction year, machine no., and plough

10

DISMOUNTING PLOUGH FROM TRACTOR

• Park plough on solid flat ground.• Switch hydraulic control mechanism to position control.• Remove upper connecting rod from mounting body.• Release stand support, push downward and secure again.• Disconnect lower connecting rods from quick hitch bar.

5. ADJUSTING THE PLOUGH

FURROW-WIDTH ADJUSTMENT

FARMER M generally comes in 4 furrow widths:

Furrow width 28, 32, 36, and 40 cm for M850 Furrow width 32, 36, 40, and 44 cm for M950, M1020

(The numbers 850, 950, and 1020 refer to the interbody clearance)

FARMER MS-850 and MS-950 is available in 4, FARMER MS-1050 in 3 furrow widths:

Furrow width 32, 36, 40, and 44 cm for MS850 and MS 950

Furrow width 36, 40, and 44 cm for MS1050

(The numbers 850, 950, and 1050 refer to the interbody clearance.)

a) Loosen front plough beam bolt (1).b) Remove back plough beam bolt (2).c) Turn plough beam (3) so that the desired plough beam hole is on top of hole in frame tube.d) Replace bolt (2).e) Tighten bolts (1 and 2).

Any adjustments to the furrow width are automatically passed on to tools such as a manure skimmer and disc coulter (if present) and fit the new furrow width exactly. No further adjustments whatsoever are required.

11

ROUGH ADJUSTMENT OF PLOUGH ON TRACTOR

The following cross-shafts are available:

• STRAIGHT cross-shaft and FLOATING cross-shaft

• Cross-shaft cat. II / 28 and cat. II / 36 (= shoulder size ~825 / pin diameter 28 and 36 mm, respectively).

• Cross-shaft cat. III / 36 (= shoulder size 970 / pindiameter 36 mm).

Rough adjustment of the plough is done according to the clearance of the rear tractor wheels X (inner distance) and the set furrow width S, by connecting the holes in the mounting body A and the slots of the adjustment slide block B using the M24 hexagon head screws C (see drawings below). For the "rough" track width asjustment, a differentiation is made between the shearbolt and the non stop variant. Reason: position of the landside at the plough head is different). W = cross-shaft cat. II and III Z = traction point spindle

The M24 hexagon head screws C must be mounted at a distance of 210 mm (two holes between the screws must remain free).

The following drawings show the CLEARANCES for the ROUGH ADJUSTMENT DIMENSIONS X.

12

The factory setting is position (2) – (5) (holes) and it results in an approximate CLEARANCE (= rear tractor wheels – inner distance) • for straight and floating cross-shaft – shearbolt variant - of ~ 1200 mm• for straight and floating cross-shaft – non stop variant - of ~ 1350 mm

(These CLEARANCE dimensions depend primarily on the furrow width).

These ROUGH ADJUSTMENT VALUES can be changed from the slots in the adjustment slide block (+70 → larger track width and -70 → smaller track width) – as described for the "exact" track width adjustment.

If this factory setting is not conform with the clearance, the mounting body A must be moved.

Before moving the four hexagon head screws M24 C to the desired holes, the vertical strut must be loosened at the front and rear (frame tube). In case of multiple adjustments of the mounting body, the self-locking M24 hexagon nut must be replaced with a new one. Care must be taken that shim D is properly tightened with the M24 hexagon nut.

WORKING POSITION

Increase: Set hydraulic adjustment control to greater depth, shorten upper connecting rod, raise depth wheels

Decrease: Set hydraulic adjustment control to smaller depth, lengthen upper connecting rod, lower depth wheels.

DEPTH ADJUSTMENT VIA HYDRAULIC ADJUSTMENT CONTROL:

See operating manual of tractor manufacturer.

DEPTH ADJUSTMENT WITH DEPTH WHEEL:

Extract cardan joint K from support wheel stanchion St and turn by 90°. Shift support wheel R to desired depth and let cardan joint latch back into place.

WHEEL CAMBER SETTING

Wheel camber is set using the lifting rods (see page 8), so that plough legs or landside (Pos. 1) are at right angles to the ground.

TRACTION POINT SETTING (for straight and floating axle)

Set plough so that there is no lateral pull on tractor. Put lower lift arms in correct position to avoid lateral pull. For normal usage the plough is set so that cross-shaft A runs centrally to the tractor tracks.

Tractor pulls towards ploughed work: alter lower connecting rods towards ploughed terrain Traction point spindle Z is screwed together.

Tractor pulls towards unploughed work: Alter lower connecting rods towards unploughed terrain Traction-point spindle Z is screwed apart.

Page 18: Operating Manual - AMAZONE Ersatzteil Datenbank · 2017. 2. 2. · E-mail:info@vogel-noot.net When making enquiries or orders please state construction year, machine no., and plough

14

EXACT ADJUSTMENT OF TRACK WIDTH

Adjusting the cutting width of the first body S1 according to field depth is done so that it corresponds with the cutting width of the next body S.

Every adjustment to settings produces changes to other settings, which will have to be corrected accordingly.

During the exact track width adjustment, a differentiation must be made between the STRAIGHT cross-shaft and the FLOATING cross-shaft!

STRAIGHT cross-shaft – exact track width adjustment:

The exact track width adjustment is made using the tension jack A:

max. tension jack dimension – 500 mm (= small CLEARANCE) min. tension jack dimension – 360 mm (= large CLEARANCE)

If this adjustment is not sufficient, the mounting body B over the four M24 hexagon head screws C must be detached and moved accordingly (see rough adjustment).

As optional equipment the tension jack B can be replaced by a double-action hydraulic cylinder for a hydraulic track width adjustment (see spare parts drawing).

FLOATING cross-shaft – exact track width adjustment:

Before adjusting the floating cross-shaft, the four M24 hexagon head screws C must be loosened and then the adjustment spindle A can be used to perform an adjustment in the range of ± 70 mm.

If this adjustment is not sufficient, the mounting body must also be moved, as described above.

If the floating axle is supposed to oscillate over pivot point D, both bearing pins E must be moved to the front holes!

Prior to all these track width and traction point adjustments the vertical struts must be loosened.

DISC COULTER SETTING

Set depth of disc coulter after removing screw K and altering position of rocker bar L according to desired work depth. Make sure that hub N does not touch the ground.

The distance (unploughed side in direction of travel ON THE LEFT of landside) between the side of the disc and the ploughing tackle should be between approx. 1 and 5 cm depending on the soil properties, and at least protrude beyond the manure skimmer. This distance is achieved by rotating the coulter shaft. Generally a disc coulter is mounted on the last body; special disc coulter ploughs can be delivered or installed upon customer request (one disc coulter is mounted on each body). (ATTENTION: Disc coulter ploughs FARMER M and MS non stop stum—jump system are only available for frame heights from 76 cm)!!

MANURE SKIMMER

The work depth of manure skimmers (skim coulters) depends on the work depth of the plough body and should be set so that the work depth is approximately 1/3 of the cultivation depth. Where there are extensive crop remains, the setting can also be somewhat deeper. Should the manure skimmers be obstructed by oversized crop remains, they can easily be removed.

6. OVERLOAD PROTECTION

SHEAR OFF PROTECTION (Shearbolt)

To protect V&N ploughs from damage through overloading, they are fitted with shear-off bolts (1). After a shear-off bolt breaks, the swung-out plough body can be pivoted back into working position after releasing turning point bolts (2) and removing remains of shear-off bolt. After replacement, securely tighten new shear-off bolt and turning-point bolt.

I n c a s e o f a n y o v e r l o a d p r o t e c t i o n : Use only original shear-off bolts (see spare parts drawing) of the appropriate size and quality! Only these bolts guarantee proper protection. Never use bolts of higher or lower strength or bolts with shorter shafts!

FULLY AUTOMATIC STUMP-JUMP - mechanical (= Non stop stump-jump mech.) (with overload protection)

F u l l y a u t o m a t i c m e c h a n i c a l s t u m p - j u m p f u n c t i o n s a s f o l l o w s :

When plough body meets an obstruction (stone), the plough beam element turns upwards through the pivot point D (up to max. limit E – spring is compressed). When the obstruction has been passed, the plough beam element returns to its original position. The whole procedure occurs without having to stop the plough (NON stop, mechanical).

If the NON stop plough beam element with leaf spring (mechanical) is activated to often or if the plough does not go into ground (soil too hard), the number of leaf springs can be increased (from 5 to 10 leaf springs – see spare parts drawing) or decreased, should the opposite be the case.

!KEEP CLEAR of tilting plough beam element!

To disassemble the plough beam element or the leaf spring, turn the adjusting screw A to the left until screws B and C can be removed.

Screw B must be put in first, and after that adjusting screw A should be turned to the right until screw C can be mounted (compression length of spring = precompressed about 710 mm = middle of pin).

FULLY AUTOMATIC STUMP-JUMP - HYDRAULIC (Non stop hydr. stump-jump system)

The fully automatic stump-jump system works in principle like the mechanical stump-jump system. The only difference is that instead of the leaf springs a hydraulic cylinder with connected hydro-accumulator is used.

O p e r a t i n g p r i n c i p l e :

When the body of the plough meets an obstruction (stone) the resistance is so high, that the NON STOP element activates. The hydraulic oil of the hydraulic cylinder (fixed on the NON STOP element) gives pressure to the piston accumulator. As soon as the body of the plough has overcome the obstruction, the hydro accumulator presses the oil back in the hydraulic cylinder and brings the NON STOP element back in position.

The release pressure (= work pressure) can be adjusted, if needed, through the pressure regulating tube connected to the tractor hydraulics. The work pressure can be read from the pressure manometer.

When disconnecting the pressure regulating tube from the tractor the stop cock tap on the plough must be locked, the pipe to the tractor hydraulic must be cleared (pressure-free) and only then taken out. When leaving the pipe connected to the tractor, care must be taken that the pipe does not get squeezed or covered.

For protection against damage through overloading, all NON STOP elements are additionally provided with a shear bolt F. Installation and dismantling instructions using the three-point bolt G are described under "Shear-off protection".

PRESSURE ON THE HYDRO ACCUMULATOR:

!

KEEP CLEAR of plough beam element and hydro-accumulator! (System is under high pressure).

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: Prior to assembling or disassembling the hydraulic stone protection device (cylinder, accumulator, hose lines, tubes, etc.), reduce system pressure completely using the pressure control tube (SYSTEM IS UNDER HIGH PRESSURE) DANGER of ACCIDENTS! Before reducing the system pressure, the plough must be attached or supported appropriately or it may overturn.

The gas pressure side can only be adjusted by trained personnel or VOGEL&NOOT.

The oil pressure can be adjusted using the tractor hydraulics and the pressure-regulating hose.

Pre-stress pressure 90 bar (nitrogen)

min. working pressure 90 bar

max. working pressure 140 bar

IV. After operation, clean plough thoroughly and protect exposed surfaces against corrosion usingacid-free grease.

V: After operation, clean plough thoroughly and protect exposed surfaces against corrosion using acid-free grease.

! A T T E N T I O N !Important for environmentally friendly, low pollutant

varnishing:

The implement must NOT be cleaned with a steam jet device within the first 6 weeks. After this time, only clean at a nozzle distance of at least 50 cm at 100 bar and 50°C.

If these points are not adhered to, the warranty will not cover damage to varnish.
