3C Cost Cutting Concept – “More with less”

In these difficult times it is more relevant than ever that we look to reduce input costs still further. Enormous savings are still possible, particularly in the area of cultivation and sowing. AMAZONE has devel-oped, based on long-term field trials, the 3C “Cost-Cutting-Concept”. With “5% more profit from 50% less fuel and 60% less working time” this banner headline shows the potential that the 3C-Concept offers.

Any system, obviously, has to take into account the local farming structure so that the techniques are optimised to suit the region but achievement of these savings is made possible, by a combination of all the procedural steps from stubble chitting and primary soil tillage through to seed sowing techniques and also from fertilisation through to crop protection application techniques. In all areas of “intelligent crop production” one can turn the cost-cutting screw. Modern cultiva-tion and seed drilling technology, such as we would like to introduce to you today, makes it possible, not only to work more precisely but also more cost-effectively.

Reducing costs, however, does not mean “saving money at all costs”, but rather it is about preserving, in the long-term, the viability of the farming business. Cost reduction always therefore means “money earned” and so, working to the guidelines in the 3C-Concept just serves to underline the motto that has accompanied AMAZONE over the last 125 years:

GPS-Switch for AMATRON+: Automated part-width section shut-off for spreaders and sprayers.

This new GPS-aided on-board computer system facilitates the precise switching on and off of the machine

in the correct position on the headland, in shortwork and wedge shaped fields. The working widths and

the layout of the part width sections are taken into consideration. Once the machine has initially spread

or sprayed the headland the field boundary is recorded and the rest of

the field is controlled automatically.

AMATRON+ – one for all.

AMAZONE has developed AMATRON+; a machine over-lapping terminal for fertiliser spreaders, crop protection sprayers and seed drills facili-tating optimum application

AMATRON+ enables the electro-hydraulic activation of the Limiter border spreading device and the hydraulic shutter slides for the forward speed related application rate control, on, for example, the AMAZONE ZA-M fertiliser spreader in conjunction with the Comfort electronic package.

On AMAZONE seed drills AMATRON+ carries out the electronic tramline control and seed rate changes in pre- determined increments. On Cirrus trailed seed drills the comprehensive electro-hydraulic functions such as sowing depth or soil tillage intensity are controlled via AMATRON+.

ZG-B bulk fertiliser spreader –maximum precision.

The ZG-B bulk fertiliser spreader for large-scale farms and con-tractors has a large hopper vol-ume and robust running gear for speeds up to 60 km / h.

The large-volume tyres reduce pressure on the soil. The hopper can simply be filled from the silo or the loader.

The rubber floor belt can be easily removed from the base frame for maintenance. Included: automatic floor belt alignment for constant conveyor centring.

UF mounted field sprayer –superbly light profile design.

All UF mounted sprayers up to 1800 litres have a light yet very robust frame and a slim, close-coupled tank position making them easy to carry.

The modern polyethylene tanks with their rounded design ensure perfect agitation and cleaning with the minimum of residues.

Due to the special profi le design all AMAZONE booms are superbly robust, yet at the same time extremely light and their conical hinge pins without lubricating nipple make them virtually maintenance free.

The hydraulically folding Super-S boom of 15 to 28 m has a very narrow trans-port width of just 2.40 m. The pre-select- or profi-fold allows many folding and angling possibilities.

As standard the hydraulically folded Q-plus boom from 12 to 15 m working width allows the left hand folding seen in direction of travel.

The operator station of the UF is located on the left hand side of the machine. Only three operating taps are sufficient for the actuation of all functions.

Front tank FT 1001 – the value for money self-propelled machine.

Particularly in smaller field sizes, the front tank solution proves to be a flexible alterna-tive to trailed sprayers. Thanks to the larger tank capacity, the

FT 1001 front tank system achieves work rates comparable to that of a trailed sprayer or self-propelled machine.

The Flow-Control fi ll level management in the AMATRON+ on-board computer provides the optimum, fi ll level depend-ent homogeneity of the spray agent in both tanks.

Compact, manoeuvrable, optimum weight distribution!

The tank shape was designed in such a way that both, on the road and also in row crops the view forward is not obstructed.

The AMATRON+ on-board computer controls the liquid circuit. Only when the fill level of the mounted sprayer has reached the 30 % mark is the liquid is pumped from the front tank to the rear.

The special advantages of better manoeuvrability of tractors in small fields and the stability in sloping terrain are positive arguments for the front tank solution.

UX trailed field sprayers –utmost efficiency!

The UX, with a maximum capac-ity of 6200 litres and working widths up to 40 metres has a low centre of gravity and com-pact dimensions. The sprayer

is manoeuvrable, light to pull and designed for optimum boom coverage, with the best possible spraying and transport speeds.

The compact tank with perfectly smooth inner walls without nooks, crannies and swoop walls, has a very low centre of gravity.

The axle pivot steering ensures especially smooth boom ride and great stability in all driving conditions. The Trailtron steering ensures precise tracking.

The large, swivellable induction bowl with ring line and three additional noz-zles is very well suited to all product for-mulations. The rotating canister flushing nozzle works effectively.

All control elements are logically and unmistakably arranged on the left-hand side when viewed in the direction of travel.

Booms and Profi-folding –in a performance class of its own.

Profi-folding is the electro-hy-draulic actuation of the boom. The height adjustment, folding out / folding in, one-sided fold-ing, boom reduction and tilt

adjustment (Profi-fold I) func-tions can easily be controlled via AMATRON+. Additional boom tip angling is possible with Profi-fold II.

Everything fi ts: The boom is securely locked into its transport position. Shock loads are dampened not only in the fi eld but also in transport position via the par-allelogram suspension. This means pure comfort and above all ensures a long service life of the boom.

With a transport width of just 2.60 m, the Super-L boom, from 24 to 40 m, folds down very narrow next to the tank. With a transport height of max. 3.80 m, the UX is very compact, even with high tyre sizes (18.4R46).

The parallelogram suspension of the UX enables spraying heights of 0.50 to 2.50 m to be achieved. The boom posi-tion is excellent in all directions due to optimum co-ordination of the suspension system.

Alternatively, the Super-S boom, from 18 to 28 m, can also be used on the UX. All booms can be automatically control-led with Distance Control parallel to the target surface.



UG trailed sprayer – proven technology for

the most demanding use.The broad profiled steel frame, the compact tank and the robust boom technology with its pro-filed structure ensure optimised weight and strength.

The UG is therefore both extremely robust and light. All hoses are protected within the profile of the frame.

The clear control panel at the front left offers easy access for the fast, comfortable and error-free operation of all switches.

A tracking, universal, straight or hitch drawbar with hydraulic steering prevents wheel track damage. Brake system on request.

The track width adjustment, the large ground clearance and the smooth chas-sis underbelly ease the crop protective operation.

The pressure re-circulation system (DUS) for all AMAZONE sprayers ensures that the concentration of spray chemical at the nozzle is constant. When cleaning, the system is flushed with clear fresh water right up to the nozzle.

EDX – Xpress grain singling and planting system.

The Xpress system features a di-vision of the grain singling and

planting system, allowing for operational speeds of 15 km / h.

The revolution inprecision air seeder technology!

Decisive is the modular separation of grain singling and grain planting. The exact pneumatic singling of the grains is carried out via two centrally arranged singling drums for six or eight rows.

With a working width of 9 m yet only 2 seed hoppers have to be filled. This centralisation means shorter filling and set-up times and thus results in an addi-tional increase in efficiency.

Due to the fast operational speeds of up to 15 km / h the acreage output can be increased by up to 50 % without any loss in planting accuracy compared with normal precision seed drills.

ED precision air seeder –shrewdly engineered.

The ED precision air seeder pre-cisely singles seeds on a vacu-um principle with the vacuum safely pulling the grains onto the nap holes. The accurate grain singling is carried out

mechanically via strippers and operates almost independently from forward speed and grain shape.

Sowing with the clockwork precision!

Very precise placement due to very low dropping height and “free” fall of the seed.

The classic sowing unit is suitable for behind the plough sowing of maize, sunflowers, beans, peas and cotton, even at high speeds.

The Contour sowing unit can be used both for behind the plough and mulch sowing. Here: sugar beet / rape version with intermediate roller.

Optimum placement depth with longitu-dinal tandem guidance. The resultant low sowing unit movements permit high forward speeds.

ED precision air seeder –works fast and well.

AMAZONE relies on the very flex-ible parallelogram folding tech-nology that gives only little wear. When sowing wedge shaped fields the machine wing can be raised whilst travelling with the seeder units switched off.

Only 3 m transport width. The track markers fold above the machine so that the height is only 2.65 m. Fast transport on small narrow roads is not a problem.

The large full size fertiliser hopper features an extremely favourable centre of gravity.

KIK – the compact integrated folding system.

With up to 12 units, the ED has a partic-ularly space-saving folding system and comes with a front tank for the transpor-tation of fertiliser.

The filling auger for high delivery capacity is made of stainless steel.

The micro-granular spreader is suitable for the application of insecticides, heli-cides and micro-fertiliser. In Germany only the application of micro-fertiliser is allowed.



Introducing the Catros family –performance to behold.

Both, the mounted Catros – rigid or hydraulically folded – and the trailed version are available for any farm structure and maximum area output. Two rows of con-

cave discs break up the surface soil. The high speed provides the optimum mixing of soil and straw.

With the harrow the Catros is also per-fectly suited for seed bed preparation in spring, for maize and sugar beet.

Maintenance-free twin-row bearings with slide ring seals, stone protection thanks to sprung rubber mountings and tool-free implement adjustment are all features of the Catros.

The disc rows can be simply adjusted using the square eccentric pins, so that the machine always covers the full area when working.

The mounted C-Drill in 3 m and 4 m (rigid) is used for sowing catch crops.

As the special design of the wedge ring tyres also makes them suitable for road transport no separate transport axle is

needed for the trailed Catros. This is known as integrated running gear.

The depth guidance and targeted re-consolidation is carried out on the mounted Catros with the wedge ring roller and on the trailed Catros with the wedge ring tyres.

Reliable in the fields and on the road.

Safe road transport with a transport width of less than 3 m is assured by the implement frame which is hydrau-lically foldable as standard.

The rubber spring elements allow the optimum adaption of the concave discs to the soil contour. The operational safety of the maintenance-free overload safety device is ensured and the shallow working depth is always possible.

The tractor-mounted, 2-row Pegasus wingtine cultivator is ide ally suited to stubble work-ing and ensures the even germi-nation of volunteer grain. Wing

shares provide full area opera-tion. The mixed soil is levelled by the following concave discs and reconsolidated by the rear roller.

The concave discs are arranged in two rows and can be centrally adjusted. The depth and intensity of the operations can be adjusted without tools.

The Cirrus Super packer coulter seed drill is designed for high work rates even in areas of diffi-cult conditions. The distinctive feature of the Cirrus Super is the PacTeC packer coulter. The

sowing coulters are connected to the wedge ring tyres and are positively held at the required placement depth. Sowing speeds of up to 20 km/h are possible.

Cirrus Super large area seed drill – maximum technology

The wedge ring tyres are linked via a hydraulic pressure equalisation system allowing them to follow the ground con-tours. The soil is evenly reconsolidated and in this way the accurate placement depth is ensured (only on Cirrus Super).

For any operational use: the right sowing technology.

With the seed tank positioned at the front, up to 1/3 of the machine's weight is trans-ferred to the rear axle of the tractor. This creates better traction and at the same time frees up space for a tighter steering angle of up to 90° on the headland.

On the Cirrus Activ, a rotary cultivator with “on-grip” tines is used to prepare the seedbed instead of the passive twin-row disc harrow. Even in difficult areas and changeable soil con-ditions, this active technology plays to its strengths: 6 m work-

ing width and sowing speeds of up to 15 km/h. However, the machine remains easy to handle at the headland. This makes it an extremely attractive option for use across several farms or by contractors.

On the Cirrus Activ, RoTeC+ coulters are responsible for the accurate seed placement. A disc diameter of 400 mm, together with an adjustable coulter pres-sure of up to 50 kg/coulter, ensures that the coulters run extremely smoothly. The shallow depth limiter disc means that this is also the case in areas with light soils, as it is possible to operate the machine with a permanently higher coulter pres-sure.

The rotary cultivator comes with depth adjustment of a standard that is unri-valled allowing reaction to changing soil conditions during work.

Optimum adaptation – efficient operation!

The row spacing for the Cirrus is the tried-and-tested 12.5 cm. Single disc coulter technology offers enough clear-ance between each disc for sufficient through-flow for use in both plough-based and mulch sowing.
