en motocicleta, son otras estupendas opciones para el campo. Aunque ésa no es mi idea de un tarde llena de diversión (a mí personalmente me gusta más montar a caballo), aunque sí que son actividades muy populares. Mi estudio sugiere que la experiencia puede ser de una a dos horas, o todas unas vacaciones dedicadas a hombre(o mujer) y máquina.Sin embargo, si prefieres máquinas menos ruidosas, quizás el ciclismo sea más para ti. Se trata de un deporte muy popular en esta zona. Hay unas cuantas tiendas de bicicletas por aquí donde puedes alquilar una bicicleta con todo el equipamiento, si no dispones del tuyo propio.Si quieres velocidad y emoción, debes ir a los karts. Bien organizado y recomendado para la familia, y con

límites naturalmente. El precio ronda los 6-7 euros por la misma cantidad de minutos en el kart, pero merece la pena, y quien sabe, quizás descubras que eres el próximo campeón de fórmula uno en tu familia.Aún en el interior, también tenemos el golf. Esta parte de España, es conocida mundialmente por la calidad de sus cursos de golf. Los cursos impartidos en el este de Málaga son menores en número, pero para nada inferiores en calidad a la masa de ofertas de la zona oeste de Málaga. El campo de prácticas con algunas lecciones, es el sitio perfecto para comenzar si eres nuevo en el juego.De la mano del golf, también está el tenis; y otro deporte más moderno que puedes probar, el pádel. Si todavía no has jugado al pádel, debes hacerlo inmediatamente. Muchos clubes y urbanizaciones tienen pistas y en la n

mayoría de los casos, no tienes que ser miembro para reservar una pista, sólo ve hasta el centro deportivo y escribe tu nombre en la hoja de reserva. Reservar una pista no te costará más que unos euros, así que también merece la pena.Y finalmente, para terminar con la ronda de actividades en el interior, no podemos olvidarnos de los bolos. Es una actividad llena de diversión para familia y amigos, y estupenda para disfrutar del tiempo libre. Para todas las edades. No es para nada caro, y te garantizará horas de diversión sin parar.Aquí termina nuestra ronda de actividades en el interior, pero la semana que viene nos vamos a la playa para ver lo que podemos hacer con nuestro tiempo libre mientras disfrutamos jugando con la arena entre los pies.

are other great land based activities on offer. This is not quite my idea of a fun filled afternoon (I like the horse riding personally) but they are very popular. My research suggests that the experience can be anything from an hour or two to an entire holiday dedicated to man (or woman) and machine. However, if you like your bikes just a little quieter then perhaps Cycling is for you. This is an incredibly popular sport here, both on and off road. There are a few bike shops around and they will hire you a bike with all the equipment, should you not have your own, for both activities. For speed and excitement, you must try go-karting. It is very well organised and suitable for all the family, with limits naturally. You can expect to pay about 6 or 7 euros for the same amount of minutes on the track but it is worth

it and who knows, perhaps you will uncover the next formula one champion in your family. Staying inland still, what about golf. This part of Spain is world renown for it’s quality golf courses. The courses east of Malaga are fewer in number but are in no way inferior to the masses on offer west of Malaga. The practice range with a few lessons is a great place to start if you are new to the game.Alongside golf there is tennis and the more modern game of padel to try. If you have not experienced padel you must do so straight away. Many clubs and urbanisations have courts and you do not have to be a member in most cases in order to book a court, just call into the sports office and put your name down on the sheet. A court will cost you no more than a few euros so it’s good value as well. And finally for our round up of inland n

sports we must not forget ten pin bowling. This is truly a funfilled way for family and friends to enjoy a little leisure time. All ages and all abilities can enjoy the game and compete with each other. It is inexpensive and will guarantee hours of endless fun.So that is the inland round up finished and next month we go down to the beach to see what we can do with our leisure time whilst enjoying the sand between our toes.

El interés en el mercado inmobiliario española creció el mes pasado,

con una creciente cantidad de inversores que buscan comprar bienes raíces en suelo español. El último índice del portal de la vivienda Rightmove muestra que España encabeza la lista en cuanto a solicitudes de información se refiere. Entre las zonas más populares del país se encuentran Menorca, que registró un 9,06 por ciento de aumento en búsquedas, Marbella, con 6,68 por ciento y el norte de España, que gozó de una subida en la muestra de interés del 5,22 por ciento. “El mes de Mayo obtuvo un gran resultado para España, alimentado por la vuelta de la confianza entre los compradores a medida que los malos recuerdos y los titulares del año pasado se desvanecen”, dijo un portavoz de Rightmove, “Los vendedores también parecen más abiertos y con una idea mucho mas realista de los precios para conseguir que se efectúen transacciones. “

Un nuevo informe de los Registradores de la Propiedad sugiere que las transacciones - la parte vital del mercado inmobiliario

- están tocando fondo, aunque todavía es demasiado pronto para declarar una recuperación en curso. El número de escrituras de propiedad registradas en el Registro de la Propiedad aumentó un 7% en el primer trimestre en comparación con el mismo período del año pasado, según el último informe del Colegio de Registradores de la Propiedad. Esta es la primera vez en varios años que las ventas anuales han aumentado en un trimestre.En términos trimestrales (4o trimestre de 2009 vs 1er trimestre de 2010), las ventas registradas aumentaron un 16,3% (no ajustado por factores estacionales, como las vacaciones), dando así “el mayor volumen de transacciones en el último año y medio”, según el informe. Después de ajustar por factores estacionales, las ventas subieron un 1,83% en el 1er trimestre, el primer resultado positivo trimestral después de 15 trimestres consecutivos de descenso. Del total de 117.911 escrituras inscritas en el registro en el 1er trimestre, 60.740 eran de nueva construcción y 57.171 fueron reventas, un incremento trimestral del 16% en las ventas de obra nueva, y el 17% en reventas. Esto apunta hacia una “lenta pero progresiva recuperación de la relativa importancia de las reventas, en estos momentos el 48,5% del total”, según indica el informe. Sobre una base anual, las reventas subieron un 22%, mientras que las ventas de nueva construcción cayeron un 4%.

highest volume of transactions in the last year and a half,” says the report. After adjusting for seasonal factors, sales were up 1.83% in Q1, the first positive quarterly result after 15 consecutive quarterly declines.Of the total 117,911 deeds inscribed in the register in Q1, 60,740 were new builds and 57,171 resales, a quarterly increase of 16% in new build sales, and 17% in resales. business men and women etc, all understand the risk involved in property for profit. You win some and you lose some, as in any other business, but a lifestyle property purchase is very different. It seems to me that it has become popular to criticise the concept of a life in Spain with newspaper headlines telling us that the recession is forcing expatriates to return home with their dreams in tatters, and don’t get me started on the television programmes about the apparent thousands of illegally built homes that are to be demolished, taking with it the life savings of the owners.Now without doubt these are issues, but is it only in Spain? Does the UK for example not have any illegally built homes? Makes you think doesn’t it. If you are unfortunate to have to return home and your dream of a life in the sun is over, I am sure it is very distressing, but I have seen more expatriates return back to the UK before the u22u22

Y con mucha más frecuencia de lo que parece, el problema principal estriba en el hecho que lo realmente problemático es ganar lo suficiente para vivir, aunque ésta es una historia que trataré otro día.Las propiedades ilegales son un tema a tener en cuenta, especialmente si usted está atrapado en esta situación, pero la cantidad de casos de este tipo se aleja mucho de ser mayoritario. Yo no pretendo minimizar el problema para aquellos que lo padecen, pero en España hay miles de residentes cuyas propiedades son totalmente legales y son muy felices viviendo en España.Como ya dije, yo hablo de mi propia situación personal pero sigo pensando que el sueño está todavía sano y vivo y le pido a la gente que sólo sabe protestar y que no aprecia la calidad de vida de este país llamado España que hagan las maletas y se vayan por donde vinieron y nosotros los que nos quedamos disfrutaremos de lo que nos ofrece . Al margen de los problemas económicos que el país padece actualmente, España sigue ofreciéndonos; cultura, estilo de vida y precios bastante asequibles para adquirir propiedades.

In spite of the economic troubles, Spain still offers a lot. Weather, culture, lifestyle, a new experience in life and due to the world economic situation, property at very affordable prices.n n

Al tiempo que este número sale a la calle durante la temporada alta turística, estoy seguro que nuestros lectores me perdonarán si uso

una o dos líneas para poner al día a nuestros promotores turísticos y a nuestros visitantes veraniegos sobre Málaga en general, antes de ver el contenido de “plaza”; la revista de este mes.Situándonos en la costa del sur de España, Málaga es la ciudad más importante y la más famosa de la Costa del Sol. Todo el mundo está familiarizado con el aeropuerto, pero muchos menos estarán familiarizados con sus espectaculares playas, sus centros comerciales y su historia. La continua afl uencia turística ha permitido que la ciudad se haya desarrollado enormemente incluyendo un número impresionante de complejos hoteleros. La zona centro de Málaga ha sido restaurada en gran parte y en ella se encuentran los edifi cios históricos más importantes, como la Catedral, museos y la casa donde nació el mundialmente conocido Pablo Picasso, en la Plaza de la Merced.De modo que ahora que le hemos puesto al día, vamos a centrarnos en un lugar de Málaga al que nuestra revista le dedica especial atención en este número: La plaza de la Constitución. Esta bella plaza fue llamada originalmente, “La Plaza Principal”(no muy original), o” Plaza de las cuatro calles” (un poco mejor, pero un nombre todavía no muy adecuado). En 1812 se llamó Plaza de la Constitución ( mucho más bonito). Desde antes del cristianismo había sido el corazón del centro histórico de la ciudad y desde el siglo XV hasta nuestros días había sido el centro político de la ciudad. De hecho, se podría decir que los más importantes eventos políticos de la España moderna y contemporánea se celebraron en este espacio abierto.Hasta 1869 la Sala Capitular o Ayuntamiento se encontraba en esta plaza pero también se encontraban otros edifi cios emblemáticos como el Palacio de Justicia, la Prisión y el Juzgado. Hoy, aunque la Plaza de la Constitución es un lugar idóneo para gozar de la conocida hospitalidad de los malagueños, con numerosos cafés, bares y restaurantes donde elegir. Ir de compras, tapear, beber y participar del ambiente malagueño se puede compaginar maravillosamente con la historia de la ciudad y la modernidad.

As this issue is hitting the streets during the high season of tourism, I am sure our regular readers will forgive me if I use a line or two to bring our

holiday makers and summer visitors up to date with Málaga in general before we get into this months featured ‘plaza’.Standing on Spain’s southern coastline, Málaga is the main resort along our world-famous Costa del Sol. Everybody is of course familiar with the airport but few will be familiar with the spectacular beaches, great shopping and remarkable history. Málaga’s continuous tourism boom has allowed the city to redevelop and improves its facilities, including a range of new and impressive accommodation. Much of Málaga’s central zone has recently been renovated and restored, containing numerous churches and historic buildings, together with museums and the birthplace of world-famous artist, Pablo Picasso in Plaza de la Merced.So now you are all up to date, we can have a look at this months featured location, the Plaza de la Constitución. This beautiful square was originally called ‘Main Square’ (not very original) or, ‘Square of the Four Streets’, (a little better but still not very creative). In 1812 it became Constitution Square (so much nicer). Since before Christianity, it had been the heart of the city’s historical quarter and since the 15th century to the present day, it has been the city’s public and political space. In fact, it could be said that all the city’s important political events of modern, contemporary Spain have taken place in this open space. Until 1869 the Chapter House or Town Hall was located in this square, as were other offi cial buildings such as the house of the Justice of the Peace, the prison and the Courthouse. Today though, Plaza de la Constitución is the perfect location to enjoy the famous Málaga hospitality with numerous cafe bars and restaurants to choose from. Shop, stroll, eat, drink and take in the Málaga ambience, where history and modern times come together so beautifully.

Shopping in Málaga is a fascinating mix of the old

and the new. Years ago shopping for the malagueños was a fairly low-key affair but economic booms and the increase in tourism, has resulted in more contemporary and chic shopping options, including international chains and shopping malls.If this all sounds worryingly anonymous, don’t worry. Málaga is still home to plenty of small individual shops, many of which have been in the same family for several generations and seem to charmingly thrive on selling just one or two specialities. It is this diversity in era and style that is one of the great aspects of shopping here; the fact that right next to a cutting-edge designer boutique you can still find a stuck-in-a-time warp haberdashery buzzing with elderly ladies scouring racks of buttons, bobbins and bows. On either side are alleyways and tiny squares and a number of additional retail outlets, bars and restaurants. There is also the central indoor market which is absolutely not to be missed. Even if you don’t plan to buy, Malaga is a window-shopping wonderland. tradicionales de nuestra costa . Estos bares y restaurantes que pueblan las orillas de las playas pueden parecer modestos, pero a menudo son los mejores sitios donde degustar productos del mar recién capturados. En este artículo sugerimos unos cuantos lugares donde pueden ir a degustar estos manjares del mar. Para su información y para comprobar la calidad de los mismos hemos probado en cada uno de estos restaurantes y podemos recomendarlos a ustedes personalmente. Que hay de esos menús de los cuales se oyen comentarios. Pues bien, como podrán suponer, los menús ofrecen siempre una gran variedad de pescados y otros productos del mar, aunque hay opciones para degustar carnes verduras y otros platos. No nos equivoquemos, hay veces en la vida que las

mejores cosas no le llegan a uno por si solas si no que hay que salir a buscarlas, el Restaurante Los Laureles es una de ellas. No es que el restaurante sea particularmente difícil de encontrar, es sólo que esta un poco escondido y apartado de los caminos de mucho transito, se requiere un poco de tiempo y esfuerzo que, sin duda, vale la pena invertir. Entonces, ¿te preguntara que dónde está? Bien, saliendo de la autovía en La Heradura (no Almuñécar), basta con seguir la carretera hacia abajo en dirección a La Herradura, pasamos La Herradura en dirección Almuñecar, pasamos el desvío de Marina del Este (también se merece parar y visitarla), continuamos hasta llegar a Almuñecar. Ahora buscamos una rotonda y la salida para la Escuela Internacional de Almuñecar. Esta es también la salida para Los Laureles. A partir de aquí siga las señales a través de la urbanización que le van dirigiendo hacia Los Laureles y ¡listo!, hemos llegado. Sé que parece

algo complicado, pero el restaurante se encuentra, literalmente, a sólo un par de minutos de Almuñécar y a tan sólo 5 o 6 de La Herradura. El restaurante tiene su propio aparcamiento privado justamente afuera e incluso dispone de habitaciones para alquilar, con ofertas de cena y alojamiento. Cierra los domingos por la noche, todo el día del lunes y martes al mediodía. Todos los demás días está abierto para el almuerzo y la cena.

towards La Herradura and beyond towards Almuñecar, past the turning for Marina del Este (worth stopping for a visit as well), continuing on until you reach Almuñecar itself. Now you are looking for a roundabout and an exit to the Almuñecar International School. This exit is also the one for Los Laureles. From here simply follow the Los Laureles signposts through the urbanisation and hey presto, you are there.I know it seems a little tricky but literally, the restaurant is only a couple of minutes from Almuñecar and only 5 or 6 minutes from La Herradura.The restaurant has it’s own private parking right outside and even has rooms to let with overnight dine and stay packages.It is closed Sunday evening, all day Monday and Tuesday lunchtime. All other days it is open for lunch and dinner.

Spanish trumps French these days for many young chefs looking to expand their

culinary knowledge.“No one goes to France to eat now,” says Andy Nusser, executive chef and partner at Casa Mono in New York. “Everyone goes to Spain. Spanish food is in the forefront.”“We’re at an important moment,” says Ferran Adrià, chef-owner of el Bulli in Spain and a leader of the global molecular gastronomy movement. “People know about traditional Spanish food. Avant-garde [cuisine from Spain] has gotten known everywhere, including the United States. Tapas too appears to have made deep and permanent inroads at restaurants across the United States”. It seems Spanish cuisine really is making a big impact around the world.

The S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2010 have now been announced. The list is the result of an extensive poll of the

world’s most celebrated chefs, renowned food critics, leading restaurateurs and well-travelled gourmands – collectively they are The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy. Spain’s El Bulli has won the Best Restaurant Award no less than 5 times in the last decade but a new restaurant has knocked the chef supreme from his top spot. The restaurant is NOMA in Denmark.For those in the know, Rene’s colossal achievement of winning the World’s Best Restaurant Award in such a short space of time is no surprise. But when you consider the legends he has leapfrogged and you cannot help but think something truly significant is taking place at Rene’s Copenhagen
