FACTS ABOUT EASTERN PARTNERSHIP

The Eastern Partnership (EaP) is a joint initiative of the European Commission, EU Member States and six East

European states: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The objectives of the EaP are

economic integration and convergence with EU policies, strengthening energy security, promoting

democracy and good governance, as well as developing people-to-people contacts. More specifically EaP

focuses, for example, on the visa facilitation and liberalisation processes or the conclusion of Deep and

Comprehensive Free Trade Agreements between the EU and the EaP countries. The Eastern Partnership

project was launched by the Czech presidency of the EU Council, with the cooperation of Poland and Sweden,

in 2009.

WHY PRAGUE

The Eastern Partnership was established at the European Union Summit held in the Czech capital, Prague,

on 7 May 2009. The Czech Republic has been supporting the integration efforts of all the Eastern Partnership

member states for past decade and perceives this platform as a basis for closer economic cooperation

on the Union level.

WHO WILL BE THERE?

The conference will bring together inspiring combination of senior officials from the EU and the Czech

Republic, EaP member states, state administration, business, banking sector and academia.

TERRITORIAL EXPORT CONFERENCES

The six specially designed territorial export conferences, organised in cooperation with the Chamber

of Commerce of the Czech Republic, aim to bring the markets of individual countries of the EaP closer to

Czech exporters and investors. Our goal is to attract more Czech and European exporters and investors to

partner countries, as well as more exporters and investors from EaP countries to the Czech Republic and

the EU
