Innovation is more about problem-solving and learning than aboutscientificdiscovery, moreaboutthecustomerthantheproducer, moreaboutthemarketplacethanthelaboratoryandmore about business transformation than technology.

Productivityisnotaboutdoingmorewithless, noraboutworkingpeopleharderfor longer. Productivity improvement is not generally the result of greater capital investment to replace labour. Productivity does not equate with efficiency; it centres on innovation and transformation–ofbusinesscapabilities, processes, skills, technologyandcompetitiveness.

Inpracticalterms,theproductivitygainsthatmattertomanufacturerscomefromincreasingrevenue,notjustcuttingcosts.

MPO 2014 will focus on addressing the productivity linked issues that is bleeding the manufacturing sector and will be a platform where path breaking case studies arepresented, currentnormsarechallengedandarobustplanofactionisdevisedbyindustry thought leaders.
