Dear Parents/Caregivers
SCIENCE INQUIRY SHARING EVENING
It was so great to see so many parents with their
children at our Science sharing evening last Tuesday.
It was obvious that students were very proud of their
work and keen to share their learning.
Est 1853
Vision To work together in a positive, supportive environment, providing excellence in teaching and learning, where all people are respected and skills for life are developed.
RIPPA RUGBY TOURNAMENT
Thanks to parents who helped with teams at last week’s rippa rugby tournament. Well done to all
teams who took part. Great skills and sportsmanship were shown by players and there certainly
were some close games, with both Year 5/6 teams making it to the semi-finals.

SCHOOL TRAVEL PLAN
We are currently working with the DCC and Sport Otago to develop a travel plan aligned to the
regional transport strategy.
School, student and parent surveys will be distributed this week. We encourage you to fill in
these surveys, as the information compiled will assist us in planning to improve the safety of our
children and the local road environment.
Many thanks
Nic Brown
School Travel Plan Facilitator
THURSDAY GROUP
Our design brief at Thursday group last week was
to make a cube using newspaper, strong enough to
hold a weight. Our structure held 620g.
Then we strengthened the cube with 5 more paper
tubes
which we
added
making
triangles,
and now it
held 1400 g. We learnt that the triangle is the strongest 2-
D shape.

Jennifer THREE LITTLE PIGS – Room 11
The real reason the wolf ate the pigs was I think something had made him sick and he went to his next door neighbour to see if he had some medicine. “Little pig little pig do you have some medicine?” “No you cannot have some medicine.” The wolf smashed the door down and the wolf ate the pig up. The second pig built a wood house and the wolf came along and a sneeze was coming out of the wolf’s nose and he blew the pig’s house down. So the wolf ate that pig too! At the third pig’s house the policeman came along and put him in jail and the policeman went away to his house and had a cup of coffee By: Pieter van Rooyen
The real reason the wolf ate the pigs was he needed ham for his sandwiches. Then he went to the first little pig’s house and he said “I am going to eat you up!” and he did. Then he went to the next pig’s house and he said “I will eat you up!” and he did. Then he went to the next pig’s house then he could not eat the pig and the pig lived happily ever after. The police came along and took the wolf to jail. By: Kaitlyn Behr The real reason the wolf ate the pigs was because he needed marmite for his toast so on Monday he went to the first pig’s house. The pig said “NO go away,” so the wolf broke down the door and ate the pig.

On Tuesday the wolf went to the next pig’s house. “I need some milk for my cupcakes” said the wolf. The pig said “NO go away,” so the wolf broke down the door and ate the pig. On Wednesday the wolf went to the third little pig’s house. The cops came along to the third little pigs house to arrest the wolf. The cops put him in hand cuffs! By: Mitchell Ballantyne
