Dear Parents and Caregivers I hope you had a fantastic Labour Weekend and found some time to spend together as a family relaxing. We had an outstanding Agricultural Day on Friday and the feedback I have had has been most humbling. I would like to thank Sheree Horton and all the team from the PTA for their outstanding work. Also many thanks to our judges and stewards, those who compet-ed, parents, teachers and ancillary staff. Together we create a very special event and one I hope will be around for years to come. To those students who now have the opportunity to move through to Group Day a special congratulations and the very best of luck. To those of you are not, remember there is always next year and I be-lieve as long as we know we did our very best then the rest is out of our hands and how the judges on the day see it. A highlight for me was the excellent dog agility display. This really let the children know what was possible if they work hard in the care and training of their dogs and I hope this is something we retain for the years ahead and perhaps we can include a competition element like this as an option for those taking part in the dog section. Remember we have Grandparents Day coming up on the 14th November. As we now hold this in THE Action Centre there is plenty of space for parents to come along as well. KIDS for KIDS: was last week and was a great success. A
massed choir of bright, happy children was a delight to be part of. Our two soloists Jayden MacDonald and Tamatea Smith were superb and our ukulele players Malachi White and Ashleigh Clarke were expert as well.

Photo Life Studios coming THIS Friday Photo Life come and take all our school photos including family portrait photos. All portrait photos will be taken in the Hall beginning from 8.30 onwards. If you are wanting family portraits with pre-schoolers etc., this is where you will need to go and envelopes for this NEED to be collected from the office and returned with payment before Friday. ALL children will have a portrait photo taken along with a class photo. We use online processing so you order and pay for your photos online. A school computer is also available for this if you don’t have access at home.

Community/School Notices Horse Riding Lessons: Briars ‘riding school at Maketu offers beginners lessons and horsemanship training after school for ages 10 up. Providing a good start to basic riding, horse handling and safety skills needed to ride horses confidently. Exercise, fresh air, friendship, learn something new and develop another skill set. Yr 7 & 8 Open Evening 6th November at 6.00pm
An Open evening will be held for all parents and students who want to know more about what we do in the senior block. This is an excellent opportunity for Year 6 students and their parents to come along and find out some more information regarding the opportunities available in Year 7/8. This evening will be largely run by current senior students so there will also be an opportunity to ask questions directly. More information will be available in the coming weeks.

Please notify our office by tomorrow morning if you wish to attend and your child wasn’t placed 1st - 3rd (as these are already entered). Also if you are NOT attending and won a ribbon we need to know. Group Day organisers need names early for their programme. Be at the A & P Showgrounds (opposite Kiwi360) by 9.00am. Gates open at 8.00am. A school representative will hand out tops and tag numbers. All pets are going to be entered into every event which is also new this year. BYO standards for your pet. Sunhat, sunscreen and even a raincoat . Food & drinks sell throughout the day. Attention Lamb and Calves participants; Lambs: Please check in with Janella Whitehead before leaving & Calves: Please check in with Steve Milsom before leaving because your child’s pet may be needed to compete in the teams events.
