Survey Results
Direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising of prescription drugs is a
rela- tively new way for pharmaceutical manufacturers to promote
their prod- ucts. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has
conducted sev- eral surveys to determine if DTC-type advertising is
providing a benefit to consumers. The results of the FDA's latest
survey involved the opin- ion of 500 physicians. This latest survey
confirmed an earlier belief that when done correctly, this type of
media advertising can increase the public's awareness of diseases
and treatments and prompt discussions with their doctors. Most
physicians agreed that after seeing a DTC ad, their patients tend
to ask more thoughtful or detailed questions during office visits.
Some physicians thought DTC ads gave people a greater awareness of
treatment options and helped them become more involved in their own
healthcare.
On the other hand, just under 10 % of physicians surveyed said that
they felt pressured to prescribe particular drugs when their
patients mentioned a specific DTC ad. Over seventy percent of
physicians felt that DTC ads often mislead patients to believe that
the drug advertised works better than it actually does.

that's not an easy or quick task. Dumping is still a problem.
People
are using dumpsters for their own per- sonal use. STOP IT!
Owners have to pay for the use of these dumpsters and they have a
cer- tain quota before they are charged a higher rate. If I owned a
dumpster, I wouldn't be excited about the City go- ing up on my
rates because someone is dumping their trash in my dumpster.
I swear, I don't know what people are thinking these days when they
use our highways or someone's dumpster for their own personal
trash!
I'm not sure if it's a lack of pride or a lack of brain matter. Get
it through your heads... you put trash in a trash can... preferably
your OWN trash can. Did no one teach you to pick up your trash?
What part of that do you not un- derstand?
Webb informed Council that the patching was finished inside the
water tower and painting should start soon, weather
permitting.
Holland told Council he is asking the City crew if any of them want
to

work on a three-man crew so they can get caught up.
No one's filed for any of the Coun- cil positions. Is anyone
interested?
Council was adjourned.
Just my thinking
After the water tower is painted THEN Eagle Lake will be painted on
it instead of Rice Raiders or In God We Trust. Yes, I said God in
the paper!
This is America and America was founded on Christian principals! I
think "In God We Trust" would have been great on the water
tower!
Why do we always let one or two people dictate what we do? Can't
pray
Newsbriefs
Continued from Page 1 in schools, can't pray at football games,
can't say God, can't fly the flag in case we offend someone!
Do you think if I went to China, the Chinese would be worried what
I thought while they were praying to Buddha? Do you think they
would re- ally CARE what I thought?
By the time you read this, our na- tion may be at war. I hope you
are ALL saying a prayer for our country and its leaders at this
time. I hope you say prayers for all the people in uniform and
their families.
If our country has ever needed prayer, it's now. This isn't the
time to be worried about offending someone with prayer.
Am I going to be saying a prayer? You betcha!

agement programs. Dr. Lee Dickerson, Director of U.S.
Range Cattle Business for Purina Mills LLC said, "Bunge Halla and
Eagle Lake General Store was named Top Hand because the dealership
has suc- cessfully brought Intake Modifying Technology™ to their
market through programs like Sup-R-Lix®, Accura- tion®/Cattle
Limiter™, IMPACT®, and Sup-R-Block®. These programs allow the
ranchers to utilize their most valuable resource, their grass or
hay. At the same time, because these cattle feed products are
offered free-choice to cattle 24-7, the cattle producer saves
significantly on feeding cost since he doesn't need to deliver feed
to them every day or every other day. The re- search proven intake
modifiers in the products assure cattle only consume the amount of
supplemental feed that they need depending on the quality of the
forage they have available. This assures the cattle meet their
nutritional needs, but the producer doesn't spend any more than
necessary for supplemental feed. Bunge and his staff have done an
exceptional job of providing counsel to customers, allowing them to
get op- timal performance from their cowherd and improve their
profit potential."
