Juan comes from Sick- lerville, NJ and transferred here this semester. Upon introduction Juan hit the ground running, quickly proving to be a key mem- ber in PRSSA. He ex- presses true passion for the organization, stating that “PRSSA’s comradery is in- fectious due to its ability to provide members inspira- tion in collectively succeeding together.” Juan exudes modest confidence with an eagerness to learn and a networking approach centered on empathy. Currently he participates in the Liasian Committee, balancing re- sponsibility while managing his PRaction client, Labrador Farms. Upon graduation in May 2015 he hopes to continue his dedi- cation in pursuing non profit PR work, with a dream job at the Philadel- phia Zoo. Once again, congratulations to Oct/Nov member of the month Juan Serrat. May this be just the beginning of your successful journey in public relations. A Message From The President Labrador Hill Farm Visit Volunteers are needed to help work an event at Labrador Hill Farm Horse Sanctuary. Contact Director of Philanthropy Devon Thilker at [email protected] if interested. Dear Members, Thank you for your participation this semester in PRSSA. This organization could not function properly and successfully without the support of its general members. I am proud to serve as president for this chapter and see such enthu- siasm not only about PRSSA, but the public relations industry in general. Even though the semester is coming to an end, I cannot wait for what next semester brings. Keep up the hard work, dedication, and of course passion to the indus- try, three ingredients that not only lead our chapter to success, but will someday lead our members there as well. Best Regards, Diana DiNapoli President, PRSSA

Winter Break is right around the corner. Here are some things youcan do to sharpen and improve your PR skills during our time off:

Update Your Resume andLinkedIn. Add any new thingsyou have done during the semester. Make sure your resume and LinkedIn are consistent.

Read a Book Related to the Industry. I recommend “Normal Gets You NoWhere”by Kelly Cutrone or “This IsHow You Pitch: How To KickAss In Your First Years Of PR”by Ed Zitron.

Clean Up Your Portfolio.Make sure your portfolio hasyour latest and best work. Thiscan give you a huge advantagewhen looking for a job/intern-ship.

Apply for Internships. It’snever too late to apply for aSpringinternship. Now is also the timeto look and apply for Summerinternships.

Research. Look up some companies you may want towork for once you graduate.Start following some industry-related blogs.

Clean Your Computer. Youprobably have a ton of workfrom this past semester. Now isa good time to back up yourhard drive and get rid of filesyou don’t need.

Start Using a New SocialMedia Platform. Or work onperfecting your skills on a current platform.

Have Some Fun. You deserveit.
