Welcome center: $11.1 million60 percent of project costs
• Outright gift for construction: $9.25 million• Sustaining facility fund: $1.85 million
WELCOME CENTER
The prominence and importance of the welcome center offers an exceptional naming opportunity. This facility will be a major hub for campus activity and will have the distinction of being an area that nearly every K-State student and their family members will visit over the course of their college experience. The excitement of prospective students and those ready to graduate will give this environment a vitality that few other buildings on campus can match.
Based on current policy, at least 60 percent of the total cost for renovation of an existing facility — 50 percent for construction and 10 percent to the sustaining facility fund, is required for naming recognition. Total construction cost of the welcome center is $18.5 million.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT ON SEPT. 19

GALLERY
FULL GALLERY GIFTED BY THE ESTATE OF WAYNE McINTOSH The gallery that connects the welcome hall to the Career and Employment Services suite is an important symbolic and functional feature of the structure. The design has allowed for a literal and figurative “connection” between the beginning of a K-State experience to transitioning into one’s career. The hallway is the design element that allows us to bring the two points in a student’s educational experience together.
The gallery will highlight the individuals whose legacy and leadership provide examples for prospective and current students, while illustrating the impact a K-State education has on the betterment of society. Located at the entrance of the Welcome Center south tower, the gallery will lead visitors along the expanse of the building intersecting with the north end of the corridor. The north gallery will feature industry partners who invest in our talented graduates and create the career opportunities for the entire K-State family. These two galleries will be visible from the exterior of the building and create the K-State success story!

GREEN ROOF SYSTEM
The renovation of the structure requires a permanent solution for waterproofing the roof. The green roof system is both an attractive and sustainable option to bring K-State to the forefront of building innovation. The current design offers a solution for providing traditional seating (bleachers) and non-traditional (grassy areas) on the stadium stands. Guests who are enjoying a day on campus may sit outside in a green space while waiting for an appointment or campus tour.
Green roof system: $1 million
