    In observance of the International Day of Climate Ac tion, 350 held a

    to launch their campaign to reduce CO2

    emissions worldwide. We (C

    with 2 other RISD studen ts) created an animation that simulated a c

    from 389 (Actual levels of CO2

    in the atmosphere) to 350 (Safe level

    that played in four screens in Time s Square, during this event.

    Hectic Planet

    Client: Artist As Citizen, 2009

    The purpose of this project is to encourage a conversation on climate change. In or-der for this to happen, the content had to be clear and easy to access, through an

    entertaining interactive process.

    The visitor to the site (built using Flash) will discover an illustrated spinning globe

    of great detail, where he or she can discover diverse environmental concerns that

    pop-up on screen when the mouse is scrolled over particular areas of the screen.

    Vincet Figgins (1766-1844) was

    the rst typessetter recorded

    to have developed Slab Serif or

    Egyptian typefaces. In 1815,

    Figggins designed a font he

    called Egiziano Black, its name is allusive to

    its reminiscence of Egyptian hieroglyphics.

    The sharp angles, created between the stem

    and the solid and bold serifs of the letter-

    forms, were particularly helpful when used in

    larger scale. Since the letters hold a weight

    that maintains their legibility even from

    afar, making this typeface particularly ap-

    pealing for advertisement purposes.

    Later, in the year 1821, Figgins introduced

    Monotype Ionic. A typeface inspired in the

    classical Ionic Greek columns. The letter-

    forms hold -as columns- a balance between

    roundness, boldness and angular vertices,

    which creates solid characters of easy read-

    ability, thanks to their clean and scarcely

    adorned forms. Differently from Egiziano

    Black, Monotype Ionic is characterized by a

    lighter weight, which makes it appropriate

    for use as body text.

    Figgins, worked as a punch cutter and desi-

    gner at Joseph Jacksons foundry shop. After

    Jacksons death, William Caslon III, acquired

    the late Jacksons foundry. Apparently due

    to Figins extraordinary skills, Caslon III

    found himself at unease, prompting Figgins

    to leave the foundry and look for patron-

    age. Luckily enough, John Nichols, intimate

    friend of Joseph Jackson, offered auspice to

    Figgins, whom would remain grateful for

    Nichols generosity through out his life.

    This is an interactive piece (built in Flash), that collects color-sorte

    Colombians on the streets around the world, pleading for

    impossing to this color-coded collection of photographs, is

    Colombias President Alvaro Uribe, depicted as Jesus. Presid

    been controversial figure being questioned about his apparen

    with paramilitary forces in Colombia.

    This piece aims to start a dialog amongst Colombians, on the

    religion, politics and idiosyncrasy. As Colombian, I am very p
