MAIN ARTICLE

Kali and the Concealed Weapon connection”

Many civilians conceal carry for the sake of

personal safety. Many of them also are

students of the SinaTirsiaWali Kali system.

Is there a connection between the two

when it comes to self-defense? The answer

to that is yes. Knowing the broken 8 and

the forward rotunde from the sinawali

assists the concealed firearm carrier in

several ways. The most important way is

the quick and effective way of deploying the

firearm from a concealed location on the

body when the shirt is tucked out. This

enables the firearm carrier to lift his or her

shirt in a forward rotunde pattern and

deploy the firearm from close quarters

quickly. Like anything in life, it takes

practice and thousands of repetitions to

deploy the firearm in this fashion. To see

this in action, go to

2013”

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

“You’re only as good as the

time you put in your training”

– Mas Guru Dennis Ocampo

SKILL OF THE MONTH –

The skill of the month is the importance

of the footwork with body mechanics. In

the beginning stages, the student learns

the basic footwork of the SinaTirsiaWali

Kali system. Once the student is no

longer thinking, then the emphasis of

blading the body is next. As the student

steps in the triangle, whether it is the

reverse or forward triangle, the opposite

shoulder needs to be turned. For

example, utilizing the forward triangle,

once the student steps in with the right

foot, the left shoulder must be turned and

the students head must not be in the

center line of the opponent’s body. Thus,

the students head must be to the outside

shoulder of the opponent at all times.

The Miami Florida SinaTirsiaWali Kali Society

I had the opportunity to return to Miami, Florida to train with Guru Randy Garcia’s dedicated students. The training began with Mas Guru Mike Dziak, Guru Randy Garcia and I visiting the founder of the SinaTirsiaWali Kali system Mas Guru Greg Alland. The weekend training continued as the students learned effective ways of deploying their firearm and blade using the skills of SinaTirsiaWali Kali system. The students of the Miami Florida SinaTirsiaWali Kali Society are progressing very well because of one thing….they practice.
