ADORATION CHAPEL NEWS
We thank Mr. Joseph Polizzi for hand crafting the new wooden easel that stands by the entrance to the Adoration Chapel. It gives sturdy support to the new picture of The Divine Mercy along with a neat holder for news flyers and pamphlets pertinent to the practice of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. We are grateful, too, for the leadership of Joan Rochford in this ministry.

The Rosary Ministry is in need of Rosary Leaders to lead the congregation in the Sunday Pre-Mass Rosary. If you can offer your assistance, please contact Rosaria Incantalupo at 718-948-0128.
Do not hesitate or be afraid to come forward, but do as Mary did and give your “yes”. Remember, Mary was a teenaged girl when she gave her YES, and Joseph was many years her senior when he too gave his yes. Let Mary speak to your heart.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Rev. Garry Squire was a most welcomed guest here on Friday evening 19 January. He was invited to address us in the course of a prayer service for The Week Of Prayer For Christian Unity.
The event gave an opportunity for a few members of his flock at Messiah Lutheran Church to join 25 Holy Child parishioners to share prayer and sing hymns.
The Reverend Squire gave a brief overview of Christian separatism, a brief exposition of Lutheranism, shared personal recollections of his youth and engaged in Q – A period.
During the course of the presentation, Pastor Squire was joined by Pastor Wolfgang of Christ Lutheran Church to provide further insight to the Lutheran perspective vis-à-vis some Catholic positions.
It is hoped that the intention of the opening prayer of that evening will come to pass:
“Lord, thou whose Son didst pray that all thy children might be one in thee, we come with repentance for the sin of useless division, and for the secret vice of pride. We
beg forgiveness for harsh judgment, for prejudice nourished as a virtue, for self-will, for scorn of others, whose experience before thee is as valid as our own.”
