Bidders are advised that a notice to proceed may be issued upon approval by the Guilford County Board of Education, and in advance of the contract document.

The undersigned further agrees that in the case of failure on his part to execute the said contract and the bond within ten (10) consecutive calendar days after written notice being given of the award of the contract, the certified check, cash or bid bond accompanying this bid shall be paid into the funds of the Owner’s account set aside for the project, as liquidated damages for such failure; otherwise the certified check, cash or bid bond accompanying this proposal shall be returned to the undersigned. Bluford STEM Academy – Cafeteria HVAC ReplacementMechanical Construction

Sealed proposals will be received by the Guilford County School System until 3:00 pm on Thursday, May, 17, 2018 at 501 W. Washington Street, Greensboro, NC 27401, Room 100, and immediately thereafter publicly opened and read aloud, to furnish all materials and labor for the Bluford STEM Academy Cafeteria HVAC Replacement project. Upon arrival, please check-in at the front information desk for room location and sign-in. Please allow sufficient time for this, as late bids will not be accepted.

Plans, specifications, and contract documents will be available for inspection during business hours from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm from May 7, 2018 until bids are opened at the following locations: office of SKA Consulting Engineers, 300 Pomona Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407; North Carolina A&T State University Plan Room, Greensboro, NC; Associated General Contractors, Raleigh, NC; Minority Contractors Resource Center, Charlotte, NC; Reed Construction Data, Norcross, GA; Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas, Winston-Salem, NC. A $100 deposit is required to obtain a complete set of plans and specifications. The full deposit is refundable to contractors submitting a Bona Fide bid and returning the plans and specifications in satisfactory condition within 10 days of the bid date.

Plan Deposits should be made payable to Guilford County Schools and delivered to the office of SKA Consulting Engineers, 300 Pomona Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407. Plans may also be viewed on the Guilford County Schools website. Contact Thomas Griffis at griffit@gcsnc.com for sign up and access to the plans room. A brief description of work in the project follows:Demolition of the existing rooftop units and outside ductwork for the cafeteria, re-enforcement of platform access ladder, install one new rooftop unit with outside ductwork, new unit DDC controls, and minor electrical.

A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at the site at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Attendees should park in the east parking lot and meet at the rear of the cafeteria. Attendance at this conference is strongly encouraged for all potential bidders to examine the existing conditions and to discuss particular details of the project. Bidders must be properly licensed for the work in accordance with Section 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes.

A 100% Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds are required for this project. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 60 days.

E-Verify Requirements: This project requires the awarded vendor to comply with the requirements of E-Verify. (U.S. law requiring companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the United States – either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization.)

Minority businesses are encouraged to submit bids for this project. The appropriate forms from the section entitled “Participation by Women and Minority Owned Businesses” must be submitted with each bid to show good faith efforts to obtain Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise participation.

The Guilford County Board of Education awards public contracts without regard to race, religion, color, creed, national origin, sex, age or handicapped condition as defined by North Carolina General Statutes, Section 168A-3. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids presented and to waive any informalities and irregularities.
