    Presidents MessageJanuary 2016HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My goodness! I dont know about you, but has this year gone faster

an you that it would? January was just here and I looked and said, Oh, my!

hat a long year ahead! To my surprise, it didnt happen that way. With myead to the grindstone, the year wore down to the end. What was accom-

ished? Well, in HRWF we increased membership, finances, and fun!

Because we went to emailing your newsletters, we saved $300 a

onth. For those still choosing to receive them via snail mail and not printing

em from your computers, your cost was $12.00 a year. Please know that I

tally understand your choice. I prefer books to Kindle. Theres something

bout having a book in ones hands..

As a result of the savings, however, we can pay for the registration for all members choosing to attend our

pring Conference at the end of January. I do hope you will take my invitation seriously and attend. You would

ave for the conference on Friday and stay at the Crowne Plaza in Sacramento for $124 per night single or double

ccupancy, and leave about 12:00 for home on Sunday. Because of Presidential responsibilities and those of

egional Director, Ill be there a day earlier. Id so love to have you attend and catch the magic.

We have so many wonderful things already of the agenda for 2016! Debbie Baciagalupe and a wild and

ooly White Elephant sale are on the docket for January. Debbie attended the Paris Climate Change Conference

aris and will be reporting to us regarding her take on the event. In February, Im looking at asking Sheriff Mike

owney to speak on immigration; March might be Cindy Broese and the Pregnancy Care Center. I just contacted

    S. Senatorial candidate Rocky Chavez to join us for a meeting. He is interested in joining us for a luncheon even

Dont forget our fundraising activities! As Ive already mentioned, we have a White Elephant Sale in Janua

nd were looking for items you no longer are using that are in superior shape which you think others may enjoy.

ing them to our meeting with an idea of how much you think we should ask for. Well supply the stickers for the

ices you assign for each item. This is a fun event! I have purchased wonderful soap from France as well as beau

l necklace from France as well. Thank you, Lora!

February will be our opportunity to donate in cash what you would be spending on Valentines Day baking

March we take a break. Then in April, along with our IRS form, we have our Membership Tea. You now, we real

o have a great time with each other, dont we?

If youve been having fun, why not ask your friends and neighbors to join us? January is Membership Mon

e won three certificates at our last conference for membership increase. Why not continue the tradition? You a

etty much know of people who need to get involved. Lets make it a point to each invite another person to

tend our next meeting. Our Christmas party was a great success because members invited their friends. Lets

    ontinue the tradition!

SEE YOU AT BAYWOOD IN JANUARY! DOORS OPEN AT 11:15! PURCHASE YOUR OPPORTUNITY DRAWING

CKETS AND CHECK OUT AND PURCHASE WHITE ELEPHANT ITEMS!

ooking forward to seeing you there.

n Explanation at last...nce upon a time there was a king who wanted

    o go fishing.

e called the royal weather forecaster and inquired as to the weather forecast for the next few hours.

he weatherman assured him that there was no chance of rain in the coming days.

o the king went fishing with his wife, the queen.n the way he met a farmer on his donkey. Upon seeing the king the farmer said, "Your Majesty, you sho

eturn to the palace at once because in just a short time I expect a huge amount of rain to fall in this area

he king was polite and considerate, he replied: "I hold the palace meteorologist in high regard. He is an

xtensively educated and experienced professional. Besides, I pay him very high wages. He gave me a ve

ifferent forecast. I trust him and I will continue on my way." So he continued on his way.

owever, a short time later a torrential rain fell from the sky. The King and Queen were totally soaked.

urious, the king returned to the palace and gave the order to fire the weatherman at once!

hen he summoned the farmer and offered him the prestigious and high paying role of royal forecaster.

he farmer said, "Your Majesty, I do not know anything about forecasting. I obtain my information from m

onkey. If I see my donkey's ears drooping, it means with certainty that it will rain."o the king hired the donkey.

nd so began the practice of hiring asses to work in the government, and occupy its highest and most

nfluential positions..... and which later became the symbol for the Democrat party.

A Peacekeeping SoldierSanta's words "Says it all".

COULDN'T HELP WONDER,HOW MANY LAY ALONE,

ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE,IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT,A TEAR TO MY EYE,I DROPPED TO MY KNEES,AND STARTED TO CRY.

    THE SOLDIER AWAKENED,AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,"SANTA DON'T CRY,

    THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

    I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,

I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,MY LIFE IS MY GOD,MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS...

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,SO SILENT AND STILL,AND WE BOTH SHIVERED,FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE,ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR,SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,WHISPERED, "CARRY ON, SANTA,IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT."MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

This poem was written by a Peacekeeping soldierstationed overseas. The following is his request. Ithink it is reasonable. PLEASE. Would you do me thekind favor of sending this to as many people as youcan? Although Christmas is over, some creditis due to all of the service men and women for ourbeing able to celebrate these festivities. Let's try inthis small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Makepeople stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do yoursmall part to plant this small seed.

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,HE LIVED ALL ALONE,

IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE,MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY,WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,AND TO SEE JUST WHO,IN THIS HOME, DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,NOT EVEN A TREE.

    NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,

JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES,OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,A SOBER THOUGHT,CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,SILENT, ALONE,CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR,IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,THE ROOM IN DISORDER,NOT HOW I PICTURED,A TRUE AMERICAN SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO,OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,

    THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES,THAT I SAW TONIGHT,OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS,WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE,A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM,EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,

    LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.
