March 29, 2014 was possibly the most gratifying and humbling experience of my life. To be nominated by our Humboldt County GOP as Volunteer of the Year at the same time Peter Hannaford was being honored as Republican of the Year was an experience I will always treasure. Thank you for your respect and trust, which I will always seek to honor. I also want to thank my HRWF sisters (and brothers) who were able to attend this event. You are awesome and beautiful! Thank you for attending and supporting the ‘Ticket”. I felt your love and acceptance as one of your own.It was a fun-lled and sentimental event for us, and especially heart-warming when Peter’s son, entered the room to greet his father. Peter had no idea that he was coming. Precious letters were read from very special people in Peter’s past, including one from Ed Meese and another from Nancy Reagan. My, Peter is a walking history book! I’ve often wondered what it was like for him during the Reagan Presidential administration to be part of the Berlin Wall speech when President Reagan stated, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down that wall!” Peter Hannaford is more of a gift in wisdom and history than we will even know. Isn’t it wonderful that he and Irene are part of our family?Soon we will have our Membership Tea. Please save the date! April 24th.We will be meeting this month on the fourth Thursday of the month due to your President’s ‘cannot be changed” Mexico vacation plans. This is such a great event and an opportune time to invite all your friends to join you. Belonging is always important; and when it’s a group like ours, there’s always room for one more. Or two…. Or….. This year Esther Holmes has volunteered her beautiful home in the Trinidad area. You will nd directions to her home in the newsletter. Do yourself a favor and don’t think twice about attending. You won’t be sorry! Come and enjoy a great fashion show by the Irish Shop and delicious hors d’oeuvres in a beautiful setting. Looking forward, as usual, to visiting with you.
Blessings,

THE ‘COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS’
TAX RETURNOur popular April fundraiser, the ‘Count Your Blessings’ HRWF Tax Return is back!. This is guaranteed to be more fun than our govern-ments tax returns and I’m sure much cheaper too! Please make a copy of it and give it to some of your like-minded friends and family!!
Please return your form and payment to: HRWF, P.O. Box 3563, Eureka, CA 95502,

REPUBLICAN OF THE YEAR DINNERThe Republican Of the Year Dinner was a huge success. Our scheduled speaker, Jim Brulte’s plane was delayed, so we made do, with Peter Hannaford answering ques-tions following his own speech. His journey, from his early start in politics, to the halls of the White House is inspirational and heartwarming.Bob Burchit then read letters that had come in from Peter’s many friends - including Ed Meese and Nancy Reagan. Many people in the audience reached for tissues. Our own Annette De Modena was honored as Volunteer Of The Year, introduced by Humboldt Republican Central Committee Vice-President Gwen Morris. (shown right)Young Republicans were well represented, led by John Hudson, who came to us as an intern from HSU.
Thanks! TO ALL WHO HELPED
MAKE THE EVENING A SUCCESS, from the Young Republicans
greeting people at the door, to the
GOP EVENTS COMMITTEE, & the
wonderful sta at the Ingomar.

Rhody Parade Time!!!!!!
Saturday, April 26th , 2014This year's theme is
“Our Youth -- Ambassadors for the Future of Humboldt County.”
We always have a good time together as we not only celebrate Humboldt County, but we celebrate ourselves! Carol Del Biaggio has oered her awesome red truck for us to decorate and use for the event. We want walkers and riders, and the more, the merrier! We usually try to wear reds, white, and/or blue. I've submitted the papers and have requested that we be in tandem with the HCGOP. Grab those grandkids, husbands, friends, and dogs and join us in celebrating who we are!
Contact Annette at 442-2788 or 499-6310 for more information or "reservations" for this great activity.
