HESWALLS Riverside Players are back on stage

this month with their production of Jason and the

Argonauts. Its on at Heswall Hall and should be

worth a visit.

In this months edition weve got news of Mia

Austin, who has written a book despite having a

condition which has rendered her totally paralysed.

Theres also an award for a couple from the Rotary

Club, a historic Heswall map, a wedding, whats on

Pinewood Drie, Heswall, in Noember.Among the items stolen were a number

of watches, of sentimental alue to

Traelcare on Telegraph Road, but

with no warning whatsoeer, on

16th Noember 2009, she suffered

a massie, deastating stroke. After

more than a ear in hospital, Mia

was nall able to return home to

be with her famil, but onl when

considerable alterations had been

made.Though Mia can hear, see and

understand perfectl, she is totall

paralsed except for the use of her ees. She was onl able to write with the help

of an amazing, but expensie, new computer which picks up her ee moements

and which was bought thanks to local fundraising efforts. Preiousl, Mias famil

had to painstakingl work through a printed alphabet chart for Mia to select each

letter of anthing that she wanted to sa.

Though the computer is an incredible lifeline, its b no means the end of the

stor. Mia now desperatel needs a special wheelchair which

can be operated b her totall independentl, and also a

unique exercise machine to slowl encourage the use of her

the prestigious Taste of Cheshire Award 2011.

The awards were held at the new West Cheshire

College late last ear and were hosted b MarketingCheshire with special guest Diane Oxberr from

BBCs North West Tonight.

Roses Tea Rooms, a famil run tea room opened

in 2005 in Heswall. Husband and wife team

Andreas Constantinou and Michelle Foulia wanted

to proide the quintessential English tea room with

a Mediterranean twist which reected their Greek

Cpriot heritage. Specialising in homemade food

and patisserie all made on site using locall sourced

ingredients their small friendl tea room was soon arm faourite with the locals and won man awards oer the next four ears.

In August 2010, the relocated to Ness Botanic Gardens at the initation of its Director,

Kein Reid.

Haing won the Taste of Cheshire Award, Roses Tea Rooms will now go on to

represent Cheshire in the North West regional competition and if successful, the

BACK in victorian times, Ordnance Sure mapped the entire Heswall area.

The sure took place in 1871 and in 1912 it was reised and issued as the Edition of

1912 Wirral Diision, Wirral Union & R.D. XXXII.I. Cheshire sheet XXXII.I

Now, nearl one hundred ears later, there is a chance to bu a 2012 Centenar

Edition of the Heswall Map. These are prints of the original 1912 map that has been

watercoloured b Alan Talor, a renowned technical illustrator, who has preiousl

created works for the likes of Jaeger, Cartier, an so on.

The largest sized print aailable is at the original map scale and is of a similar size to

one of todas OS maps (118cm x 84cm / 46 x 33 inches). The original was restored

b hand, remoing the arious aging marks and stains it had collected oer the past

Biker highlights Heswall charity

BIKER And Palmer is traelling around the world to raise awareness of the Heswall

Disabled Childrens Holida Fund (HDCHF). He hopes that he will generate some

good publicit for the Barnstondale Centre, in Barnston, with his blogging on his

Bletchle Park was where one of the wars most famous and crucial achieements was made:

the cracking of Germans Enigma code in which its most important militar communications

were couched. This countr house in the Buckinghamshire countrside was home to Britains most

brilliant mathematical brains, and the scene of immense adances in technolog indeed, the birthof modern computing. The militar codes deciphered there were instrumental in turning both the

Battle of the Atlantic and the war in North Africa. What was life like during the war for the thousands

of men and women who lied and worked there an odd, secret territor between the ciilian and
