productio ‘A Perfect Day’ to more tha 120 people.

The group, which is based at Heswall Day Cetre, Telegraph Road, eve maaged

to overcome ‘backstage’ problems whe the water supply was cut off i Heswall ad

Pesby, leavig the cetre with o supply.

Udauted, the group, which is made up of people with learig disabilities ad/or

physical disabilities, carried o, ad the eveig started with a performace from Wirral

Taiko drummers ad eded with a scouse supper ad rafe.

Debra Smith, Maager of Heswall Day Cetre, paid tribute to Lida Withers, aprofessioal actress ad tutor of the drama grouop, ad her assistat Chris Joes a

actor ad soud ma, for makig a ‘massive impact’ o the people they have bee

workig with at the cetre.

Said Debra: ‘Drama has had amazig therapeutic advatages for our people who

have learig ad or physical disabilities. It has facilitated creativity, imagiatio,

learig, isight ad growth. The impact o idividuals has bee amazig, with people

with o commuicatio skills or who have isolated themselves from group activities

takig active roles withi the productio.’

HESWALL’S police chief has sought to reassure the public that they will cotiue to

see bobbies o the beat despite the cutbacks i the Merseyside Costabulary budget.

Ispector Steve Hall admitted that the Merseyside Police Authority has made some

difcult acial decisios, but he added: “We have doe everythig i our power to

protect frot lie policig as far as possible.

“We will maitai a visible police presece, aswer your calls withi our target time

ad atted, both emergecy ad o-emergecy calls, withi our agreed target time.

I must emphasise that o police statios will close, however the umber of geeral

equiry ofces (GEOs) across the force will reduce from 34 to 12. This will mea each

area will have oe 24-hour GEO ad aother statio, which will be ope from 8am –

10pm.”

Liverpool i 1913 by a youg

Adolf Hitler.The book, which featured

Liverpool, is by local author Michael Uger, a fried of lmmaker James Chalmers, who

wrote the lm script after readig this fasciatig book.

Actress Melaie Smith, who plays the leadig role, was lmed comig ito the
