Drama Club

On Sunday morning, December 18th in ourchapel, our village choir and selectedresidents performed a musical drama givinga modern view of the visits of the angels toBethlehem. The play was titled “Angels, please come to order”. It was a light-heartedyet deep- meaning script that showed howeven angels had their own personalities andwanted to take things into their own handsonce they received their assignments fromthe Almighty. As usual, our choir took ontones of the heavenly host, singing thecarols of the blessed event.

Greetings Residents and Friends of theMasonic Village at Burlington!

HappyNew Year!

Inthis edition of “Family Matters” you will find some great information andpictures aboutvarious events our residents and team members participated induring the end of 2016. Oneof the most notable events, was thegenerosity of both residents and team members thathelped with collecting foodfor the local food pantry as well as providing holiday gifts forseveralfamilies in need throughout the county.

Wehad yet another successful, in fact, most successful, Tricky Tray event inNovemberever. All proceeds from this event go towards sponsoring andproviding items/events forresidents in the community. Thank you to CindyShemansky, our Assistant ExecutiveDirector and Administrator of our KeystoneCenter and the entire Tricky Tray team for theirleadership with thisevent. We hope to see you there next year or if not, we wouldwelcomeyour donations to this great event.

Ben Franklin and Matching Gifts

TheMasonic Charity Foundation of New Jersey is exempt fromfederal taxation underSection 501(c)(3) of the Internal RevenueCode. As such, charitable contributions made to us are deductiblesubject tothe conditions imposed by law. Alldonations are verymuch appreciated, and help us to succeed in our mission ofcaring

for the residents of the Masonic Village.

Ifyou are thinking about making a charitable donation to the Foundation, there isone questionto ask first. Do you workfor any of these companies?

AT&T, PepsiCo, Merck & Co., TargetCorp., Wells Fargo, Coca Cola, Lockheed-Martin,Johnson & Johnson, VerizonCommunications, Boeing, Bristol-Myers Squibb, MetLife,ExxonMobil, FedEx.

Ifyou do, your employer will double your charitable donation to the MasonicCharityFoundation of New Jersey. Manyemployers match donations from their employees, dollar-for-dollar, up to acertain dollar amount for every employee each year. In fact, last year over65% of Fortune 500companies offered an employee matching gift program.

Matchingdonation programs are a big part of corporations’ social responsibilityinitiatives, but employees often times are not aware such programs exist. Unfortunately, the funds thatare not used formatching donations are never distributed to charities.

Theconcept of corporate matching originated with Benjamin Franklin over 200 yearsago. While raising funds for thePennsylvania Hospital, Franklin approached the coloniallegislature to proposethat once the hospital had raised £2,000 in private contributions, thecolonialgovernment should contribute another £2,000 to the effort. “Every man’s donationwould be doubled,”Franklin later wrote.

Pleasecheck with your employer regarding the matching gift program’s policy atyourcompany. In doing so, you could doubleyour gift to the Masonic Charity Foundation

Page 4: Family Matters - Masonic Village at Burlington · "Family Matters" is a newsletter that is designed to keep families and significant others abreast of important information and events

and provide twice the benefit toour Masonic Village at Burlington’s residents. For moredetails about corporate matching or about any of our charitablegiving programs, pleasecontact Christopher Abbott, Development Director at theMasonic Charity Foundation, bycalling (609) 239-3999.
