South Carolina and parts of the east coast were pounded with record rainfall recently. Fires on the west coast along with record drought are regularly part of news reports. El Nino is expected to be the strongest ever. If you are not careful CNN and Fox News can create in you uneasiness and fear.

Lest you forget, our God is still in charge. A seldom read verse in Nahum states this so confidently. “The Lord is slow to anger and great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm and clouds are the dust of his feet.” (Nahum 1:3)

I especially like that last phrase “the clouds are the dust of his feet.”

Some of you are in financial storms, health storms, relational storms even mental storms. I can’t promise the clouds will go away overnight, but I can assure you there can be a calmer spirit, a lighter heart, and brighter future when you look beyond the clouds.

William Cowper wrote it this way: “God moves in mysterious ways His wonders to perform He plants his foot above waves And rides above the storm.”

Early in the space program a Russian cosmonaut went into space and said he didn’t see God anywhere. Dr. Criswell of First Baptist Dallas said “If he stepped out of that spaceship he would have met God real quick.” A few months later John Glenn went in an American spaceship. He said “I see God everywhere.”

Try changing your focus. Don’t remove the clouds but look above them. I’ll See You Sunday,
