Church Staff Rev. Scott Stancil Pastor Rev. Ricky Stark Minister of Students & Education Carol Petty CDC Director Hayley Smith Ministry Intern Encourager THE FIRST BAPTIST LYMAN WEEK OF MAY 5, 2010 Church Family and Friends, Summer is almost here and with it comes many opportunities for you and your family. These opportunities are designed to enhance the fellowship of our church family, equip each participant to walk more closely with the Lord, and encourage others who may not have a church home to come and be a part of the family of faith. Allow me to share more about just a few of those opportunities. To begin with, I hope you will join us on Sunday evening, May 23, at 6 PM in the sanctuary for First Joy. Along with a few items of business we will focus on two primary points of interest. The first will be our ministry to preschool and children. The second focal point will be the new members the Lord has brought to our fellowship during the past twelve months. We will recognize these folks and lay hands on them in prayer. Next, on June 2 at 6 PM we will enjoy a great time of food and fellowship at Lake Cooley. This is always a great time! There’s a playground for the kids and a covered area for the adults to sit and enjoy one another. Bring your lawn chairs and your appetite! Thirdly, June 12 we have a special Roundtable for Parents. Parents with children ages preschool - rising sixth graders are encouraged to come and join the discussion. This positive interaction and information sharing will provide great direction for our planning. Our time will be brief, 10 AM—Noon, but very well spent. Call the office or email us and let us know if you plan to attend and need child care. Call 439-8721, or email Allison, [email protected]. Finally, beginning Wednesday, June 16, we will begin Crazy Love. This will be a study for students and adults in the fellowship hall at 6 PM. Crazy Love will challenge the status quo of our spiritual life. It will deal with the issue of complacency vs. passionate and authentic faith. This study will knock your socks off! What an awesome summer we have to look forward to! Be sure to go online to www.firstlyman.org and find out more. I’m praying now for God to show off in an extraordinary way. How about you? I love you!
