WEEK OF JUNE 3, 2009

Church Family,

Have you heard the exciting news? We have a new Minister

of Music and Senior Adults. Brian Dailey will join our ministry team on June 8. Brian, his wife Leigh Ann, and their

daughters Katy (7), and Emma Grace (3), were with us this past Sunday and received an incredible affirmation!

The Daileys come to us from First Baptist Spartanburg where Brian has served the past nine years as the Associate Minister of Music. He has

incredible musical ability, particularly playing the piano and organ. You

will quickly learn of Brian’s beautiful voice and humble spirit.

As the Minister of Music and Senior Adults, his dominant responsibilities

will pertain to the totality of the music ministry opportunities in the church, from preschool choirs to the orchestra. His secondary

responsibilities will include pastoral ministries and senior adults. He is very excited about this new stage of ministry.

I want to thank Wade Rodgers for his faithful service as our Interim Minister of Music. Wade has done an incredible job leading us to worship

through music for the last six months. I praise God for our brother.

Well, the team is complete (for now). I believe that God’s blessings are

about to fall down upon His church like never before. Don’t miss it. Don’t

wait to read about it. Come and experience it yourself.

I love you all. It is a joy to serve you. Know that I’m praying for you and looking forward to seeing you Sunday.

God bless,

Pastor Scott

Summer is here (what, what)! Man, is it going to be intense!! Students, you should have received a summer calendar in the mail! Set aside these dates because you will not want to miss a thang (that’s right, I just spelled “thing” with an “a”—boo-yah)!

Our first big event will be on June 11. Carowinds. Bam. You will need to sign up to go by JUNE 7. Caylie is going on year 3 of roller coaster madness—so the rest of you better man up or you’re gonna get left behind, suckas (that’s right, I just spelled “suckers” with an “a” too—I’m fly like that)! Just kidding—if you don’t like to ride the coasters, we’ll still let you come along! We will also be helping with VBS again this year (June 14-18), so if you haven’t signed up for a slot yet, give Shakin’ McMakin or his lovely bride a call and ask where you can help out (and no, not everybody can be with the rec crew this year). Also, don’t forget mission trip applications and deposits are due JUNE 14. They are available at firstlyman.org under the student ministry page (click on the Summer Mission Trip icon). Man, it’s going to be a crazy summer—Carowinds, Sliding Rock, Lock-In, Underground Church, Drive Game, Frankie’s. Insanium in the cranium, dawgs. And then there’s Crossroads and Lookout Mountain. Whew—I can’t wait to see what God does! You do not want to miss ‘dis, fer shizzle. P.S. How cool is God for giving us Brian Dailey and his family? Um, answer: pretty insanely ridiculously cool. Man, worship was awesome on Sunday! And props to Sethular for joining the choir. I know I wish I were cool enough to join the choir. Get ‘em, dawg.

Just a note of thanks to all who helped make LymanFest 2009 a success. As we have learned, all the parts of

the body of Christ must work together and then let God take care of the rest . First Lyman continues to move forward and I am thankful to work alongside such caring people. In His Service- Roger Crowe A very special THANK YOU to all who helped with the MTCC Family Literacy Reception on May 19! We had more than 15 people who helped to make this an experience that will long be remembered in the minds of the graduates and their families. We allowed God to “show off” to our community through the efforts of First Lyman. Thanks to: Brandy & Thomas McDonaldBrandy & Thomas McDonaldBrandy & Thomas McDonaldBrandy & Thomas McDonald, Jason’s Deli, for their assistance with the wonderful fruit trays and other items needed; Keith Laws,Keith Laws,Keith Laws,Keith Laws,Chic-Fil-A, for the excellent chicken salad and the manpower he and his wife Joyce gave us in getting over 200 sandwiches made; Jimmy McMillan Jimmy McMillan Jimmy McMillan Jimmy McMillan & Gideon’s International, for making New Testaments available to the graduates and their families. We also appreciated those from our church familychurch familychurch familychurch family who assisted in taking down tables and moving chairs. I am so proud to be a part of this church! Beth Arms

Don’t forget to pray for our adopted missionary Alissa Stewart, who is serving in Uganda!
