Along with Home For Christmas, we celebrated The Splendor of Christmas on Sunday evenings. Thank you to all the children’s choir leaders, the children, the adults and all the musicians, and the sound and technology team for their incredible effort, and for sharing their amazing talents with the church. Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are now geared up to begin a new year. Ecclesiastes tells us there is a season for everything. I hope the

season we are entering is filled with blessings and renewed hope and joy for each of you.

Did you make it Home For Christmas? What a great day it was in worship and fellowship.

It was so exciting to see many of the folks who normally are unable to attend. Thanks to

family, friends, and church members who provided the way.

Along with Home For Christmas, we celebrated The Splendor of Christmas on Sunday

evenings. Thank you to all the children’s choir leaders, the children, the adults and all the

musicians, and the sound and technology team for their incredible effort, and for sharing

their amazing talents with the church. Your ministry added so much joy and meaning to

our Christmas celebration. I also need to thank Wade Rodgers for stepping in with very

little notice and providing tremendous leadership in our music ministry. I praise God for all

of you!

There are so many wonderful things before us in 2010. In the weeks ahead I will be sharing

with the congregation the vision the Lord has burned in my heart. I hope you’ll be with us

on Sunday mornings to hear all about it. It’s going to be an exciting year.

Please know how much my family and I love and appreciate each one of you. It is such a joy

to be your pastor. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for our church! Let’s continue to

pray together, worship through our lifestyle, tell others the Good News, and enjoy fellowship with one another!

Whew! It’s hard to believe Christmas has already come and gone! I hope

your family had a wonderful time together as you reflected on Christ’s coming and looked forward to His coming again. Christmas is “the most

wonderful time of the year,” but we have got some incredible things

coming up this year in 2010. Let me encourage you to begin to pray about

a couple of things as you prepare for the new year.

1) Ask God what you can do to grow more spiritually this year. We have a number of

exciting studies coming up. If you have never taken our Financial Peace course, let me encourage you to come to the free preview night on Sunday, January 17. Even if you are

completely debt-free, this course can show you how you can be an even better steward

of the money God has entrusted you with so that you are better equipped for kingdom

living. We will also have a special preview night for our Covenant Groups on Wednesday,

January 6. Make plans to be here as we share some of the exciting opportunities we

have in store for our Covenant Groups this year! And of course, if you are not a part of a

Sunday School class, boy are you missing out! Sunday School is our primary avenue of

ministry here at Lyman and is filled with solid biblical study as well as good Christian fellowship. Make this the year you commit to being in a Sunday School! I’d love to talk

to you more about any and all of these opportunities! Let’s dive in deeper this year!

2) Ask God where He would have you serve. Many Christians treat church like it’s a

spectator sport. Make this the year you get out on the field! If we’re going to continue

to grow and thrive at Lyman, we need all hands on deck! There are so many amazing

areas to serve in our church—some that we might not have even thought about yet! I know you’re busy—we all are—but I pray this is the year that we’ll all give a little bit of

our time and resources for the glory of God and the sake of His church!

I love you guys so much! I’ve been enjoying my vacation, but I can’t wait to be back this

week to worship with you again! God bless you—and Happy New Year!
