planning is well underway in readiness for major events in Term 2.

Thank you Congratulations to our Blue Day organiser, Susan Strong. With the help of the delicious blue cup cake sales in the

organising this event for the children.

PBL Morning Tea Students who have received their PBL certificates are looking forward to the PBL morning tea on Thursday.

Positive expected behaviours for RESPECT. RESPONSIBILTY and SAFETY are taught at school and celebrated. Our PBL

Anzac Day March on the Holidays

ANZAC day 25th April, falls on the last Friday of the school holidays. The RSL ANZAC march in Deniliquin will be held on

this day. Traditionally, Edward Public School, is proudly represented in this march. Again we welcome all students

and their families to join us on this day, to participate. We are meeting at the Town Hall. Children must assemble at

10.30am, for the service at 11.00am. Students are asked to

wear their full summer school uniform and hat.

Aspire Me Drama Camp Four of our senior students, Bella White, Katie Godfrey,

Kimberly Cartwright and Chloe Blenkiron headed off to Oaklands this morning to be part of the Aspire Me Drama

Camp. Learning and performing skills of drama is always a lot of fun, and I’m sure our young actors will enjoy the two

days with their friends from other schools in our area. Have

a great time, girls!

Year 6 Easter Raffle

Year 6 are now selling raffle tickets for their Easter raffle. Tickets are 50 cents each or 3 for $1.00. Available at recess

and lunch each day or from the school office. This will be

drawn at school on the last day of Term.

Easter Hat making and Parade Our juniors will be busily creating on Wednesday. Their

colourful ideas for Easter bonnets and hats will come in handy when our mums and dads and grans join in the

festivities of hat making. The beautiful creations will be on show at the Easter Hat Parade on Friday afternoon, straight

after the Easter Tabloid for Kinder and Stage One classes.

Parking Please remember to park in the right place before and after

school, at drop off and pick up times. We have received friendly reminders from our local police officers about the

hefty fines and demerit points. Keep our children safe, park

in the right place.

Survey A School Community Survey is currently being conducted

for Edward Public School this week. Personnel from the Department Of Education and Communities will be phoning

a random selection of parents and staff from our school this week to ask a few questions. The information gathered

will be presented on our School Development Day. This will

be used to inform our policies and practices. We thank you for your participation and input. If you would like further

information, or a survey to complete, please contact the school. Surveys will be collected from the school admin

office Wednesday morning 9:30am, 9th April.

Rideathon Soon we will be getting the bikes out for that all important

safety check in readiness for riding marathon around the

forrest. The school holidays is a great time to get some pedalling practice. The Rideathon date is yet to be

confirmed. We look forward to the great support of our parents and friends who come along to help out with

transporting the bikes and the BBQ, and joining in the fun. Watch this space first week back of Term 2.

Parent – Teacher Interviews Another important week to mark on the calender is Week 3 for Term 2. During this week we will be holding parent and

teacher interviews. Every child’s parents will be invited to

come along to a meeting with their child’s teacher. This will be a time to talk about the children’s strengths and areas

for improvement, and an opportunity to discuss any concerns. Notes with interview times will be going home

after the holidays. We look forward to this important meeting.

Walk Remember to walk your scooters and bikes in the school grounds. Keep yourself and others safe.

Resilience program Our school chaplain has been working with children in several classes to build resilience strategies. Children and

teachers have found the program to be very encouraging in

giving children skills to ‘bounce back’ and move forward from events.

Busy times continue, and many students, parents and

teachers are looking forward to a well earned break from

the rigorous routines of the school term. On the school holidays, enjoy your time with family and friends and stay

safe.

Come back to us recharged, ready for another term of

energised learning and engagement at our great school.

Best wishes

Joy Soper

Principal

Netball Trials

Last Wednesday, 2nd April, 8 girls from Edward School

were selected to try out for the Riverina PSSA Netball trials held at the Deniliquin Netball Associations courts.

Throughout the day the girls played a total of 4 games, playing in a variety of positions to give each netballer the

greatest opportunity of being selected.

The Edward School team was very competitive and

should be commended on their sportsmanship and the way they represented Edward Public School. The success

of the netball side was through strong defensive skills

from Taylor Wilkinson, Georgina Mildren and Steph Maher which made it difficult for the opposition goalers

to score. Gabby Clarke and Ella Harvey made the most of their opportunities under the ring and shot well. Molly

Shaw and Montana Muldoon-Leetham pulled in a number

of intercepts with Bella White providing safe and controlled options at both ends.

Out of the 8 netballers, 3 girls; Steph, Georgina and Ella

were selected into the ‘probable and possible’ 15 girl

squad with Steph Maher and Georgina Mildren making it into the final selection and are set to represent the

Deniliquin and District at the Western Riverina Pre-selection PSSA Netball Trials held on the 5th May.

Well done girls.

Tips for Parents

School holiday kids and family camps It’s not too late to book your child into a NSW Sport and Rec holiday camp. There are also family camps available year-round, for an active, family-friendly (and pocket-friendly) geta-way. Find out more: http://bit.ly/1hWxTra

Managing screen-time Helping kids find the right balance between activities, home-work and screentime is a challenge that only gets harder as they grow older. Commonsense Media has lots of useful re-sources to help – from movie and game ratings to articles like this one on setting screentime limits that are realistic enough that your children will actually follow them. Read the article here: http://bit.ly/1pBIfmk

Books to boost brains Literacy skills often progress suddenly in leaps and bounds. The secret is to keep kids of all ages reading over the week-ends and school holidays. Even 20 minutes a night can make a huge difference to their reading, comprehension and general knowledge. It’s also a great way to settle their minds down before sleep (for adults too!). If your child hasn’t found a book that grabs their imagination, why not try them on a series book from the Premier’s Reading Challenge list? Here are top sug-gestions for all ages, including young adult : http://bit.ly/1dLSGC0

Kik, Vine, Instagram – are they safe? It’s no contest – kids discover and understand new social me-dia long before we adults do. If your child is thinking about cre-ating a new social media account – or complains that “everyone else is doing it”, you can get the facts a glance from School A to Z’s technology glossary. You’ll also find infor-mation about age restrictions and things to watch out for: http://bit.ly/188OerY
