K-2 Easter Performance at School Assembly This week’s assembly is one with a difference. It will

start at the earlier time of 12:15 and will include the

K-2 Easter performance. All welcome!

Easter Hat Parade The annual Easter Hat Parade on Thursday, com-

mencing at 1:45pm, is bound to be as ‘egg’-citing as

ever. Students in Grades K-4 are asked to get

creative and whip up a not-too-’egg’-spensive’ hat,

while Grades 5/6 have the chance to go crazy with a

colourful and trendy new hair style.

School Anzac Ceremony

The school’s annual ANZAC ceremony will be held

on Friday, April 8 from 10am on the top

playground. Again, all welcome to attend!

P&C Motor Rally Fundraiser Update Update regarding the Motor rally

fundraiser which is going to be held in

the first week on the holidays.

North school are providing morning tea on

the Tuesday 12th April.

We have:

Sarah Atkins kindly making her lovely

Yoyo's (don't forget the extra for me:-))

Dianne Morris with her well known jelly

slice. (fingers crossed just waiting upon

answer)

Simone Learmonth - Apple slice, sounds

lovely!

Ron McKenzie "The super Scone Maker" will

help supervise helpers on the Monday 11th

about 5 batches!!!!

Ali Ferguson is making some Hedgehog

slice

Louise Bashford has offered to do a

gluten free vanilla slice.

Maureen will order some petite cakes.

What we need:

Some have asked what can we do to help,

but don't have time to cook etc.

If you would like to donate a few

dollars to the canteen and this would

help cover costs of napkins, plates, bags

and ingredients, this would be most

kindly appreciated.

Maureen will do a big shop. This will be

easier to keep in check what we have.

If you would like to donate a slice it

would have to be 3 batches of the same

one. This can be dropped off to the

canteen on Monday (11th) or just let

Maureen know if there is another time

more suitable.

Also, we need some helpers on the day to

pick up slices to transport to Memorial

Park at 8.30am.

Morning tea is served between 9.30-10.30

then help with pack up. Please let myself

or Maureen know so we can work out a

roster.

Many thanks

Our School Canteen Update

As we hope most of you are aware our school canteen is one

of the services provided and maintained by our P & C

Committee. Our canteen, including canteen related

fundraising activities, has traditionally broken even

financially or had to be funded by other P & C activities.

Eight months ago, financial concerns regarding the viability

of the canteen were a major concern for the P & C. As a result

a number of strategies were introduced to ensure the canteen

did not become a major financial burden to our P & C, as the

P&C were very focused on ensuring the canteen continued to

operate.

The P & C Committee are extremely happy to report that the

canteen is now running at a profit and if we can maintain the

current trend it is looking likely that the canteen will be a

major fundraising activity carried out by the P & C this year.

So we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone

in our school community for their contribution, from those

who volunteer their time to help in the canteen and catering

activities, who provide ingredients, those on the canteen

subcommittee and everyone who uses the canteen service.

We would also like to thank Maureen for her enthusiasm in

her role of managing North School canteen in this new era of

the school canteen contributing funds back to North School.

So well done everyone and please keep up the great work and

the continued support of your canteen.

Regards,

P & C Committee

PS. If you have not yet had a chance, please get involved and

if you have a few spare hours once per month then please

contact Maureen and don’t forget if you are going to the

Easter Hat parade then consider ordering the special meal

deal from the canteen for yourself.

THIS WEEK’S THINKING TASK for Grades 3-6, was……

A dragon would make a great pet. -YES or NO ?

Why ?- Time to Argue

Dragons would not make a good pet because they could burn your house down, scare people away and you could also

get hurt.

If your dragon isn’t trained, it might burn your house down. If it gets angry it could blow fire at you and when it does

it could start a bushfire. Would you like to be the one responsible for people’s houses getting burnt down?

Dragons could scare friends and family away if you ask them to come over. Also, people might get worried and ring

the police. The dragon could break wind and smell out the whole neighbourhood…..Excerpt by Bree Collins

Do dragons make good pets? No!-I think this is a stupid, ridiculous, horrible idea.

They might tread on things, burn things and even eat someone.

My first argument is that it would be horrible to have a dragon because they might tread on things. They may even

tread on something very valuable like your mother’s very valuable vase or car. Your mother would be very angry and

would probably send him away.

Dragons would make horrible pets because they might burn something and start a fire. They could even burn your

precious house or even start a bushfire. Then your dragon would probably be put in gaol..Excerpt by Sophie

Stringer

I would like a dragon for a pet because it could go into Miss Smith’s classroom and catch the mice in there. He would

be like a vacuum cleaner. Beep! Beep! Coming through!

He could sharpen my pencil with his sharp teeth and Mrs Rumble’s too.

When we have a cross-country he could fly me to the finish line. First place! Oh man! I win again! Dragon

power!...By Duncan Hughes

Many people think dragons would make a great pet. I absolutely agree!! They would make a brilliant pet because they

can clean your house, breather fire and sleep with you.

Firstly they make good pets because they can clean your house and the toilet. Now, I don’t know anyone that likes

cleaning the toilet. That’s why you have a dragon to get it done for you.

Secondly, they breathe fire. This is good because they can cook marshmallows for you and a roast like chicken and

vegetables.

Finally, they can sleep with you to keep you warm all night. When it is very cold at night get your dragon and try to

get to sleep.

In conclusion, I think dragons make good pets. They can clean your house, breathe fire and they can sleep with

you….By Charlotte Warren

More Great Ideas Dragons would make a fantastic pet! They can breathe fire and burn all your enemies!-

That’s RADICAL!! You could ride it overseas and fly up to plane windows and poke

out your tongue and scream, “You call that first class!!”…. By Isabel Osborne

Would you like it if you came home and saw your dog eating your neighbor or setting

fire to your house? No?-I didn’t think so, but that is what it would be like to have a

Lighting fires would be a breath! Oh!-I mean breeze!-All you would have to do is get

the dragon angry...By Elly Stringer

If you had a dragon as a pet, and I do hope you don’t, well, I’ll tell you a fact. All ani-

mals do their business, and a dragon’s droppings..I probably shouldn’t say the word,

but they would be very, very large and stinky...By Lucy Metcalfe

Firstly, dragons may rip people’s head off. Imagine you invited your best friend over

and they dragon ate him….By Ben North

Why should someone have a dragon? That would be stupid. Every time he breathes on

my home it would go on fire...By Thomas Nevinson

Dragons can burn down the school, smash buildings and you can ride them...By Ryan

Borella-Holschier

I think this is outrageous! Dragons might burn down your house, jump on the roof and

smash it and they might fly to the beach and eat everything in the sea...By Calypso

Granny pegged Jacko to the line because he got on the motorbike and he did

burnouts on the lawn. He was very naughty….By Will King

Jacko was getting chased by a fire-breathing dog. The dog looked really cute. It

looked so cute that Jacko picked it up. The dog tried to get Jacko’s pants on fire

and it did.

Then Jacko dropped the dog and when he saw a puddle of mud he tried to splash

water on the pants so they would not be so hot.

Jacko accidentally splashed himself and that is why Granny put Jacko on the
