Edie Erickson was born to Anton Carlson and Florence Hogenson-Carlson on December 19, 1936 on a farm in Elsberry, North Dakota. She attended school in Rock Lake, North Dakota and later married Orville Erickson in 1952. The oil field brought them and their five children to Williston, North Dakota which became the family’s permanent home.

Edie had many names but her favorite was mom, grandma and of course grandma-great. She spent the majority of her adult life in Williston, North Dakota where she owned/managed four restaurants; Westland Café, Husky Café, Skelley’s, and Sitting Bull. She also farmed, drove over-the-road semis, and was a bookkeeper. She was actively engaged within the community as a Moose president, delivering for Meals-On-Wheels, and a victim supporter at the Family Crisis Shelter. Edie was a long standing member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Anyone who knows her would recognize whenever there was a challenge or an issue to face Edie was there to help.

Edie’s past-times were bingo, bowling, and socializing. Her joys in life were her friends, family, grandchildren, and anyone who crossed the threshold of her home. Everyone was greeted with, “have you eaten”, and she always wanted a hug, and during the winter it was, “always dress warm.” Her favorite holiday was always Christmas. She loved looking at lights, decorating the tree, and playing Christmas music and hearing kids singing Christmas songs.

She had a very special place in her heart for her caregivers who came day and night, and followed her request to add salt to the coffee grounds. Edie was a lover of animals and gave special attention to the family dog Ben by feeding him from the table.

Edie was welcomed into heaven by her mother, Florence; father, Anton; brother, Dwaine; sister, Minnie Fosaaen; son, Orlynn Mark. Her memory is carried on by her daughter Florence; sons, Orville Jr., Orlando, and Ordean; along with her 12 grandkids, and 15 great-grandkids.

Her parting message to everyone was always,

“I love you, God bless and take care.”
