Faye was born November 8, 1949 in Breckenridge, MN to Marvin and Dorothy (Guderian) Krueger. Faye was the oldest of six and started working early in life. She inherently had a love for baking and cooking, helping to keep fed her five younger brothers. Faye helped care for her brothers and also worked at the local café throughout high school.

Faye met the love of her life James (Jim) Salveson in the spring of 1970 while he was attending North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton. They wed on August 21, 1971 in Breckenridge, Minnesota.

Expecting their first, Jim was drafted to the Army and they relocated to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. There, Faye’s love for cooking and serving others continued as she worked as a civilian on base.

The family returned to Crosby, ND where Faye worked at the Ryan Café and then at St. Luke’s Hospital as the dietary supervisor.

In 1978, they moved to the farm south of Wildrose. She became very involved with the local church, serving as Sunday school teacher and superintendent, Luther League leader, and church secretary.

Faye said some of her greatest blessings were “those that called her mom or grandma”. She loved to do for others. That love extended beyond her own children and grandchildren in 2002 when she and Jim welcomed the first of over a dozen beloved foster children into their home over the next 15 years.

Jim and Faye shared the love to ride motorcycle, preferably Harley Davidsons. They enjoyed 30 consecutive trips to the annual Sturgis rally in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Faye retired from St. Luke’s Hospital the summer of 2017 after nearly 40 years. In retirement, Faye enjoyed spending as much time with her family as distance permitted. She exercised her green thumb with love of flowers and gardening, and enjoyed bird watching with Jim. She took up sewing and quilting with the ladies of Grace Lutheran Church. All while keeping Jim’s sweet tooth satisfied.

Bless to have shared her life are her husband, James; her children Teresa (Mike) Ackerson, Arlington, TX; Timothy (Sarah) Salveson, Fate, TX; Mandi (Dustin) Wimer, Washburn, ND; her grandchildren Justus, Joren and Jarrett Ackerson, Emma and Adyson Salveson, Kinley Wimer; her brothers Mike (Nancy), Greg, Rick (Sharon), Jeff (Jeri) Krueger; sister-in-law Ione Oskay; mother-in-law Edyth Pladson; aunt Beverly (Jim) Gorder; and many nieces and nephews.

Those who preceded her are her mother and father; father-in-law Paul Salveson; brother Doug; and sister-in-law Mary.
